GENERAL LOCATION GROUPS IN VALENCIA
The new neighborhoods were built on the periphery of the Valencia city between 1946 and 1988. The following examples
are included in the Javier Pérez Igualada thesis: "The open building city. Valencia, 1946-1988"
ANTONIO RUEDA GROUP (1965 - 1972)
ANTONIO RUEDA GROUP LOCATION
The Antonio Rueda group was designed in 1965 by architects Vicente Valls, Joaquin García and Luis Feliu Mares. It is a complex
public promotion built between 1969 and 1972.
Located surrounded by the Vírgen de los Desamparados group on north side and on south side by Tres Forques street. It occupies about 10 hectares and
consists of 1002 homes.

According to Pérez Igualada:
"The group is a late example of the model of mixed residential development theorized by Van der Broek and Bakema CIAM in Aix en Provence, 1953 [...] consist
in the reformulation of the apple from the open building, combining buildings of different volume and shape where they are arranged around a central open space,
to create a repeatable modular unit "
The project is based on three fundamental premises according to the authors:
- Differentiation of pedestrian and vehicular circulation.
- Maximum occupancy of land to try to eliminate the wastes typical of green areas.
- Create public spaces proportionate to assist the coexistence of neighbors, in which were relapsing businesses everyday.

Antonio Rueda group. General Plan
The group combines several types of buildings composing a modular building unit opened. It consists of two parallel blocks of eight floors north-south orientation, a block of four floors design with orientation East - West and a group of row houses. These buildings are bordering a central square
connected to the next street over a pergola. To this was added two towers twelve floors for irregular parcels.

Antonio Rueda group. Tower and row houses plansIt should be noted single family homes as they are the only example Open low-rise building in Valencia. They are compact groups of rows of houses developed around a private courtyard. They are separated by pedestrian streets to access. This allows a greater occupation of land, which in this
case can prevent residual green areas.

The various uses of housing and commerce in the complex are totally separate, the result of extreme functionalism. So the ground floors of the
blocks are empty and this created a problem that the authors viewed later.
