General informationInfotainment systemThe Infotainment system providesyou with state-of-the-art in-carinfotainment.The Radio is equipped with 6 stationbuttons for storing radio stations onFM and AM wavebands, Autostore -an automatic radio station storingfunction - and Radio data system(RDS) for enhanced reception andtraffic information.The CD player can play audio CDs,CD-R and CD-RW CDs and,depending on version, also playsMP3 CDs.The digital sound processor providesyou with preset and user-definedequalizer modes for soundoptimisation1).The well-thought-out design of thecontrol elements and the cleardisplays enable you to control thesystem easily and intuitively.

NoteThis manual describes all optionsand features available for thevarious Infotainment systems.Certain descriptions, including thosefor display and menu functions, maynot apply to your vehicle due tomodel variant, countryspecifications, special equipment oraccessories.

Handsfree system withmultimediaThe Handsfree system is compatiblewith the Radio with CD / MP3 playerand allows you to operate variousphone and audio functions with thesteering wheel controls or the Voicerecognition system.The Handsfree system is equippedwith Bluetooth technology for mobilephone operation, SMS text messagereader, USB Media player and isprogrammed to recognise a widerange of voice commands.Bluetooth technology enables you toestablish a connection between aBluetooth mobile phone and the

Handsfree system, so you cantransfer phone operation to thevehicle.The SMS Message reader uses voicesynthesis and Bluetooth technologyto read incoming mobile phone textmessages over the vehicle speakers.NoteNot all Handsfree phone systemfunctions are supported by everymobile phone. The possible phonefunctions depend on the relevantmobile phone and network provider.Refer to the operating instructions inyour mobile phone handbook orconsult your network provider.

The Media player allows you to playand control digital audio stored on aUSB device. External data storagedevices, e.g. iPod or MP3 player canbe connected to the Media player viathe USB port.The Voice recognition systemenables you to make and receivephone calls, access SMS textmessages and operate the Media

player using a series of voicecommands, for increased safety andconvenience.Further external devices, e.g.portable CD player, can also beconnected to the AUX input andplayed over the Infotainment system.

Theft-deterrent featureSecurity systemThe Infotainment system is equippedwith an electronic security system forthe purpose of theft deterrence.The Infotainment system functionsonly in your vehicle and is thereforeworthless to a thief.

Security codeA 4-digit security code (suppliedseparately) must be entered uponfirst use of the Infotainment systemand after prolonged interruptions tothe power supply, to unblock theInfotainment system.

Entering the security codeWhen switching on the Infotainmentsystem for the first time, the messageRadio code - - - - is shown briefly inthe display and the 4-digit securitycode must be entered.If no code is entered within a set timelimit, Enter code - - - - will appear.To enter the security code:● Press repeatedly the numbered

button 1 on the Infotainmentsystem until the desired first digitis displayed.

● Enter the 2nd, 3rd and 4th digitsusing buttons 2, 3 and 4 in thesame way.

When the 4th digit of the security codehas been entered, the Infotainmentsystem is unblocked after a briefperiod.

Incorrect code enteredWhen an incorrect code has beenentered, an audible signal is soundedand Radio blocked/wait is shown inthe display, along with a countdowntimer.Wait until the countdown time hasexpired and Radio blocked/waitdisappears from the display, thenenter the correct code.Each time the code is enteredincorrectly, the countdown time isdoubled.

Code CardThe Code Card certifies ownership ofthe Infotainment system and containsthe radio model, serial number andradio code.NoteKeep the Code Card in a safe place.If the Infotainment system is stolen,the relevant authorities can besupplied with these importantdetails.

Handsfree system codeAfter the Infotainment system securitycode has been entered correctly andboth the Infotainment and Handsfreesystems are operational, it is possibleto view the Handsfree systemidentification code.Using the buttons on the steeringwheel:1. Press Â / MENU.2. Select SETTINGS using R / S,

and press SRC/OK.3. Select Advanced features using

R / S, and press SRC/OK.4. Select System code using R / S,

and press SRC/OK.The 8-digit identification code isshown on the display.NoteThe 8-digit Handsfree systemidentification code is unique to yourHandsfree system and cannot bechanged.

The identification code can also beaccessed using voice recognition3 42.

14 Introduction

UsageControl operations forRadio with CD player:The Infotainment system is equippedwith Radio and CD player functionsand various adjustable radio andaudio settings.The Infotainment system is controlledvia a rotary knob, function buttons,and the menus shown on the display.

Switch on / switch offPress the ON/OFF rotary knob toswitch the Infotainment system on.The previously used audio source isactivated.Removing the key from the ignitiondoes not switch off the Infotainmentsystem.Press and hold ON/OFF rotary knobto switch off or it will switch offautomatically after approx.20 minutes, to avoid discharging thevehicle battery.

VolumeRotate the ON/OFF rotary knob toadjust the volume.The current setting is shown on thedisplay.

Maximum start-up volumeWhen the Infotainment system isswitched on, the last selected volumeis set by default, providing thatvolume was lower than the fixedmaximum start-up volume.

Automatic volume adjustmentIf the volume is adjusted during atraffic announcement, the new settingonly remains during theannouncement and automaticallyreturns to the previous volumesetting.

Mute / pausePress the ON/OFF rotary knob tomute the Radio or pause the CDplayer. Mute or Pause is shown on thedisplay.To unmute/unpause, press ON/OFFagain.

NoteAdjusting the volume automaticallycancels the mute/pause function.

Menus on the display screenAccess and navigate menus on thedisplay and adjust values using thefunction buttons on the Infotainmentsystem:● Press AUDIO repeatedly to

access the Audio settings menuitems 3 18.

● Press MENU repeatedly toaccess the Advanced functionsmenu items 3 27.

RadioOperate the Radio using the functionbuttons:● Press SRC to change the audio

source to radio.● Press BAND repeatedly to switch

waveband selection (FM1, FM2,FMT Autostore, AM).Press and hold BAND toAutostore stations.

● Press the Station buttons 1...6 torecall a stored radio station.Press and hold 1...6 to store aradio station.

● Press _ or 6 to search radiostations.

Using the Radio 3 24.

CD playerOperate the CD player using thefunction buttons:● Press SRC to change the audio

source to CD player.● Press _ or 6 to skip to previous/

next track. Press and hold to fastrewind / fast forward.

● Press f to eject a CD.Using the CD player 3 32.

Control operations forRadio with CD / MP3 playerThe Infotainment system is equippedwith Radio, CD player (including MP3CD compatibility), USB Media playerand AUX functions and variousadjustable radio and audio settings.The Infotainment system is controlledvia a rotary knob, function buttons,and the menus shown on the display.

Switch on / switch offPress the X ON/OFF button to switchthe Infotainment system on. Thepreviously used audio source isactivated.

Press X ON/OFF to switch off.

Automatic switch-offIf the Infotainment system is switchedon while the ignition is off, it will switchoff automatically after approx.20 minutes, to avoid discharging thevehicle battery.

VolumeRotate the R/S rotary knob to adjustthe volume.The current setting is shown on thedisplay.

and press SRC/OK.When Yes is selected, Resettingis shown on the display and thedefault system settings arerestored after a brief period.

Changes are saved and menus areexited automatically after a briefperiod. Alternatively, press MENUagain to save and exit when resettingis complete.NoteThe previous source is resumed andshown on the display.

Tone settingsIn the Audio settings menu, the tonecharacteristics can be set.Press the AUDIO button on theInfotainment system to open theAudio settings menu.

Volume settingsRadio with CD player:Turn the ON/OFF rotary knob on theInfotainment system to adjust thevolume for the CD and radio modes.The current volume level is shown onthe display.

Traffic announcements (TA)With the TA function activated (shownon the display) 3 27, it is possible toreceive traffic information at a pre-defined minimum volume even withthe radio volume off.

The volume with which the trafficannouncement is transmitted variesdepending on the listening volume:● If the listening volume is below a

fixed level during a trafficannouncement, it will beincreased to the fixed level for theduration of the announcement

● If the listening volume is above afixed level during a trafficannouncement, it will bedelivered at the current level +1for the duration of theannouncement

During a traffic announcement,temporarily adjust the volume level byturning the ON/OFF rotary knob.If the volume is adjusted during atraffic announcement, the newvolume level (shown on the display)will only be kept at this level while theannouncement is in progress. Thevolume will then revert back to thelevel prior to the announcement.

Emergency announcementsDuring an emergencyannouncement, the volume will beautomatically adjusted in the sameway as the TA function.This function is activatedautomatically and cannot bedeactivated.

Mute / pausePress the ON/OFF rotary knob brieflyto mute/pause.The following will be shown on thedisplay, depending on the audiosource:● Pause: CD player, Media player● Mute: RadioNoteThe audio source cannot bechanged while the current audiosource is on mute / pause.

To switch the mute/pause functionoff, press the ON/OFF rotary knobbriefly again.If the ON/OFF rotary knob is adjustedwhile in mute/pause mode, themute/pause function will beoverridden.

If an emergency / trafficannouncement is broadcast with themute/pause function on, themute/pause function will beoverridden, and will be resumed atthe end of the announcement.

Radio with CD / MP3 player:Turn the rotary knob on theInfotainment system to adjust thevolume for the CD, Radio and Mediaplayer modes. Alternatively, forvehicles equipped with the Handsfreesystem, you may also adjust thevolume level by pressing the < or ]buttons on the steering wheel.

Speed volume adjustmentThe Speed volume adjustmentfunction allows the volume level to beadjusted automatically depending onthe speed of the vehicle, increasing itas the speed increases to maintainthe same balance with the noise levelinside the passenger compartment.

To activate the function using thebuttons on the Infotainment system,select the following:● MENU: Press● R / S: Scroll up/down to display

the Speed volume function● _ / 6: Press to select one of the

following options:OFF: function deactivatedLow: function activated (lowsetting)High: function activated (highsetting)

Traffic announcements (TA)With the TA function activated (shownon the display) 3 27, it is possible toreceive traffic information at apredefined minimum volume evenwith the radio volume off.

The volume with which the trafficannouncement is transmitteddepends on the reception volume:● If the listening volume is below a

fixed level during a trafficannouncement, it will beincreased to the fixed level for theduration of the announcement

To temporarily adjust the volumeduring a traffic announcement, turnthe rotary knob on the Infotainmentsystem. Alternatively, for vehiclesequipped with the Handsfree system,you may also adjust the volume levelby pressing the < or ] buttons on thesteering wheel.If the volume is adjusted during atraffic announcement, the newvolume level (shown on the display)will only be kept at this level while theannouncement is in progress. Thevolume will then revert back to thelevel prior to the announcement.

Emergency announcementsDuring an emergencyannouncement, the volume will beautomatically adjusted in the sameway as the TA function.This function is activatedautomatically and cannot bedeactivated.

Mute / pausePress the MUTE button on theInfotainment system briefly to mute.Alternatively, for vehicles equippedwith the Handsfree system, you mayalso press the Ã / q button on thesteering wheel.The following display will be shown,depending on the audio source:● Pause: CD or Media player

pause mode● Mute: Radio mute mode

To switch the mute/pause functionoff, press the MUTE or Ã buttonbriefly again.

If the volume is adjusted while inmute/pause mode, the mute/pausefunction will be overridden and thevolume will be set to the new levelselected.NoteTo access the other menus of theInfotainment system, the Mute andPause functions must bedeactivated first

If an emergency or trafficannouncement is broadcast with themute/pause function on, the functionwill be temporarily overridden, andwill be resumed at the end of theannouncement.

AUX input volume adjustmentThis function enables you to align thevolume of the AUX source,depending on the portable player, tothe one of the other sources.The volume of the external audiosource connected to the AUX input,can only be operated via the controlson the audio source itself. It is notpossible to adjust the volume via theInfotainment system or the steeringwheel controls.

To activate the AUX input volumefunction, connect your auxiliary audiodevice and ensure that it is turned off.Using the buttons on the Infotainmentsystem or the steering wheel, selectthe following:● Press the MEDIA or SRC/OK

button● Press the R or S buttons to

select the AUX mode on thedisplay

● Turn the auxiliary audio deviceon

● Press the _ or 6 buttons todecrease or increase the volumelevel

An audio source that is connected tothe AUX input can only be operatedvia the controls on the audio sourceitself.

Speech volumeThe fixed phone volume can beadjusted by using the Speechvolume function.

To activate the function using thebuttons on the Infotainment system,select the following:● Press the MENU button● Press the R or S buttons to

select the Speech volume optionon the display

● Press the _ or 6 buttons todecrease or increase the volumelevelIf the _ button is set to 0, thedisplay will show Speech off.

To adjust the preset volume, pressthe < or ] buttons on the steeringwheel or press the R or S buttons onthe Infotainment system.To temporarily adjust the presetvolume of an ongoing call or vocalannouncement in progress, press the< or ] buttons on the steering wheel.At the end of the call/announcement,the volume will return to its originallevel.

Radio volume maximum limitactivationThis function enables the user toactivate/deactivate the maximumvolume limit when turning the radioon.To activate the function using thebuttons on the Infotainment system,select the following:● Press the MENU button● Press the R or S buttons to

select the Radio on vol. option onthe display

Radio data system (RDS)Advantages of RDSRDS is an FM station service thathelps you find the desired station andensures its fault-free reception. TheRDS encodes digital informationwhich is transmitted in addition to theFM radio broadcasts, providinginformation such as station name,traffic information and radio text.

With the RDS activated:● the programme name of the

chosen station appears on thedisplay instead of its frequency

● during an automatic stationsearch, the Infotainment systemtunes into RDS stations only

● the Infotainment system alwaystunes into the best receivablebroadcasting frequency of thechosen station, by means of anAlternative Frequency (AF).

Under no circumstances placeDVDs, single-CDs with a diameterof 8 cm or shaped CDs in the audioplayer.You must not put any stickers onCDs. These discs can get jammedin the CD drive and ruin the drive.An expensive replacement of thedevice will then be necessary.

The following CD formats can beused:● CD-ROM (Radio with CD player).● CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW

(Radio with CD / MP3 player).

The following sampling frequenciesfor MP3 CDs can be played(Radio with CD / MP3 player only):● 44.1 kHz, stereo (96 - 320 kbps)● 22.05 kHz, mono or stereo

(32 - 80 kbps)● Variable bit-rates (VBR)

CD-Rs and CD-RWs used must beburned in compliance with thespecification ISO9660.● Audio CDs with copy protection,

which are not in compliance withthe audio CD standard, may notplay correctly or not at all.

● On mixed mode CDs(combinations of audio and data,e.g. MP3), only the MP3 audiotracks will be detected andplayed.

● Self-recorded CD-Rs and CD-RWs are more vulnerable tomishandling than prerecordedCDs. Correct handling,especially in the case of self-recorded CD-Rs and CD-RWs,must be ensured; see below.

● Avoid leaving fingerprints whenyou change CDs.

UsageStarting CD playback

Radio with CD player:Switch on the Infotainment systemand push the CD with the printed sideup into the CD slot until it is pulled in:CD playback starts automatically.If there is already a CD in the unit,press the SRC button: CD playback isstarted, and the CD track is resumedfrom same location as it was when itwas stopped.Pressing the SRC button when no CDis loaded, No CD will be shown on thedisplay. While this message isdisplayed, the mute function isactivated automatically. The soundsystem will then resumeautomatically to the radio mode.

Using Voice recognitionAfter activating Voice recognition withbutton s, a system message will askyou to say a voice command or say"Help", to list the voice commandscurrently available.Following a system message, say avoice command within a few secondsor the system will automaticallydeactivate.To interrupt a system message at anytime, press button s and say a newvoice command.When the system recognises a voicecommand, it will either perform thefunction or ask you to confirm yourchoice:● Say "Yes", or● Say "No".

If the system fails to recognise a voicecommand, it will ask you to try againor say "Help".The system will deactivateautomatically if no recognised voicecommand is given.

When a valid level 1 voice commandis received (e.g. "SETTINGS"), thesystem is then able to recogniselevel 2 voice commands.When a valid level 2 voice commandis received (e.g. "User data"), thesystem is then able to recogniselevel 3 voice commands (e.g. "Deleteusers").

3. After the system message, enterthe desired phone number usingthe following voice commands:● Say "Zero" (inserts the

numeral 0).● Say "One" through to "Nine"

(inserts numerals 1 - 9).● Say "Plus" (inserts the +

The 8-digit identification code isshown on the display.To access the GPRS code:1. Press s and say "SETTINGS".2. Say "Advanced features".

Helpful hints for voice commands● The vehicle's microphone is

intended for use by the driver.The microphone is correctlypositioned and directed for thispurpose, so that you do not needto alter your normal drivingposition for your voicecommands to be recognised bythe system.If you speak too far from thevehicle's microphone, e.g., if youare sitting in the rear seats, the


system may not recognise yourvoice command.

● Background noise and loudexternal noises can also causevoice commands to bemisunderstood. It may benecessary to close all windowsand sunroof, switch off the airconditioning and request thatpassengers do not speak whilstyou deliver your voice command.

● After activating the Voicerecognition system, always waitfor the audible signal beforespeaking, otherwise the systemwill only register part of the voicecommand and will not recogniseit.

● If the system does not recognisethe voice command, a messageasks you to repeat it. If the voicecommand is still not recognised,the list of recorded voicecommands is played back.Repeat the desired voicecommand when it is played back.In the event the system still doesnot recognise the voicecommand, the Voice recognition

system is automaticallydeactivated.

● If no voice command is givenwithin a few seconds of activatingVoice recognition, the system willautomatically deactivate.

Important notes on languagesupport● Voice commands are

programmed to be recognised bythe system in a particularlanguage. However, the systemdoes not need to identify a uniquevoice, therefore voice commandscan be recognised regardless ofthe person speaking.

● The system is able to recognisevoice commands in differentlanguages, but will onlyrecognise voice commandsbased on the language currentlyset.

● Languages selectable for theVoice recognition systeminclude:

General informationThe Handsfree phone system, basedon Windows Mobile technology, is apersonal telematic system whichallows the use of communication andentertainment devices, speciallydesigned for use in vehicles.The system provides you with thepossibility of having mobile phoneconversations via the vehicle'smicrophone and loudspeakers, aswell as operating the most importantmobile phone functions via thesteering wheel control buttons or byvoice interaction with the Infotainmentsystem.To be able to use the Handsfreephone system, the mobile phonemust be connected to the system viaBluetooth 3 52.NoteNot all Handsfree phone systemfunctions are supported by everymobile phone. The possible phonefunctions depend on the relevantmobile phone and network provider.

SMS (Short Message Service)By means of voice synthesistechnology, the Infotainmentsystem's integrated SMS Messagereader 3 54 can read incoming textmessages on your Bluetooth mobilephone over the vehicle's soundsystem.The SMS Message reader functionsare managed using the steeringwheel controls or voice commands.

Not all mobile phones support thevoice reading of SMS messages.Refer to the operating instructions inyour mobile phone handbook orconsult your network provider.

ConnectionA mobile phone must be connected tothe Handsfree phone system in orderto control its functions via theInfotainment system.No phone can be connected to thesystem unless it has first been paired.Refer to the Bluetooth connectionsection (3 52) for pairing a mobilephone to the Handsfree phonesystem via Bluetooth.When the ignition is switched to theMAR position, the Handsfree phonesystem searches for paired phones inthe vicinity. Bluetooth must beactivated on the mobile phone for thephone to be recognised by theHandsfree phone system. Searchingcontinues until a paired phone isfound.

The display message Connecting,indicates that the phone beingconnected. A confirmation of theconnection on the display, showsdetails of the paired mobile phone.NoteWhen a Bluetooth connection isactive, using the handsfree phonesystem will discharge the mobilephone battery more rapidly.

Automatic connectionFor your phone to connectautomatically when the system isswitched on, it may be necessary toactivate the automatic Bluetoothconnection function on your mobilephone. Refer to the mobile phoneoperating instructions.If connection fails:● check the phone is switched on● check the phone battery is not flat● check if the phone has already

been paired

The Bluetooth function on the mobilephone and on the Handsfree phonesystem must be active and the mobilephone must be configured to acceptthe system connection request.

Bluetooth connectionBluetooth is a radio standard for thewireless connection of, e.g., a mobilephone with other devices.Compatible mobile phones enablethe user to make and receive callsand listen to voice messages usingthe steering wheel controls or byvoice interaction. Information such asmobile phone contact lists and calllists can be transferred to theInfotainment system's memory andshown on the display.NoteThe functionality may be restricteddepending on the phone make andmodel.

Pairing a mobile phone to theHandsfree phone systemNoteBefore pairing a mobile phone, addcontacts to the mobile phonebook soyou can call them using thehandsfree system.

In order to use your Handsfree phonesystem, a connection must be set upbetween the mobile phone and thesystem via Bluetooth, i.e., the mobilephone must be paired to the vehiclebefore using it. For this purpose, themobile phone must supportBluetooth. Refer to the operatinginstructions for your mobile phone.To set up a Bluetooth connection, theHandsfree phone system must beswitched on and Bluetooth must beactivated on the mobile phone.To pair a mobile phone, use thefollowing controls on the steeringwheel:1. If you lose it, you canstill use the handsfree system.

The pairing procedure can also beactivated with the voice recognitionsystem 3 42.NoteIf another phone is automaticallyconnected during a new pairingprocedure, it will automatically bedisconnected, to allow the newpairing procedure to continue.NoteTo interrupt the pairing procedure atany time, press the Ã / q button onthe steering wheel. An errormessage will appear in the displayconfirming that pairing was notsuccessful.

The first time a mobile phone ispaired, the system gives a welcomemessage as soon as it is connected.This message will not be given duringsubsequent connection of the samemobile phone.

You only need to pair your phoneonce. After that, the Handsfreesystem will connect automaticallyevery time you turn the ignition key tothe MAR position.NoteThe mobile phone's Bluetoothfunction must be activated, so thatthe Infotainment system willrecognise the phone each time youenter your vehicle and turn theignition key to the MAR position.NoteIf the pairing fails, check to ensurethat the device lists the vehiclephone system.It may be necessary to delete thedevice from the device list and pairas a new device.

When the system has completed thepairing, it will then ask you if you wantto copy across the contacts of thephone you have just paired 3 54.When the pairing is complete, thephone is automatically connected tothe Handsfree phone system. The

mobile phone can then be operatedvia the Infotainment system controlson the steering wheel.

Unpairing a mobile phone fromthe Handsfree phone systemIf the maximum amount of pairedphones have been used, a newphone can only be paired if anexisting phone is unpaired.To unpair a mobile phone, usebuttons on the steering wheel:1. Â / MENU: Press2. R / S: Press to move up/down on

Connection setup cannot beguaranteed in all situations. Forthis reason, do not rely exclusivelyon a mobile phone when a vitallyimportant communication (e.g. amedical emergency) is concerned.On some networks, it may benecessary for a valid SIM card tobe properly inserted in the mobilephone.

Please enquirebeforehand about the correctemergency call number for therelevant region.

Making an emergency callDial the emergency call number (e.g.112).The telephone connection to theemergency call centre is set up.Answer when the service personnelquestions you about the emergency.

OperationIntroductionWhen a Bluetooth connection hasbeen set up between your mobilephone and the Handsfree phonesystem, the functions of your mobilephone can be operatedpredominantly via the Infotainmentsystem controls on the steeringwheel.The Handsfree phone system mayalso be operated by using voicecommands 3 42.It is then possible, e.g., to import andupdate the telephone numbers andcontacts stored in your mobile phoneinto the Handsfree phone system.After connection, the mobile phonedata is transmitted to the Handsfreephone system. This can take sometime, depending on phone model.

● MESSAGE READER: allows youto read the last text messagereceived, call the sender of themessage or delete it. You canstore up to 20 text messages in adedicated inbox and listen tothem later, call the sender ordelete them. You can also set thenotification methods for receivedSMS messages.

● SETTINGS: allows you tomanage the names in yourphonebook, pair a new device oraccess the PIN code for theHandsfree system.

Dialling a telephone numberSeveral options are available fordialling telephone numbers. Theseinclude the following:● Calling a contact from the

phonebook● Call the caller or recipient of the

most recent calls● Call the sender or recipient of an

SMS message

PhonebookThe phonebook contains contact listsavailable only to the current vehicleuser. For reasons of confidentiality,each downloaded contacts list canonly be viewed when thecorresponding phone is connected.After setting up the connection, thecontact list on your mobile phone canbe copied to the Handsfree phonesystem.When asked by the system whetherto copy the contacts list, pressSRC/OK (Yes) or Ã / q (No) buttonon the steering wheel. Alternatively,say "Yes" or "No" using voicecommands 3 42.After a mobile phone contact list hasbeen copied to the Handsfree phonesystem, every time the phone isconnected, the system's phonebookis updated automatically.

NoteNot all mobile phones copy contactnames in the phonebookautomatically, but have to betransferred manually, using themobile phone keypad. If promptedby the system, carry out thisprocedure following the specificoperating instructions for yourmobile phone.

Adding contacts to the phonebookAfter a phone has been paired, theoption to copy the phone contactsautomatically is given by theInfotainment system.Contacts can also be added manuallyto the phonebook at a later date bypressing the Â / MENU and selectingthe following display options:● SETTINGS● User data● Add contacts

Deleting phonebook contactsPhone book contacts can be deletedfrom the Handsfree system byselecting the following menu options:1. Â / MENU: Press2. R / S: Press to move up/down on

the display

3. SETTINGS: Select option, thenpress the SRC/OK button toconfirm

4. User data: Select option thenpress the SRC/OK button toconfirm

5. Delete users: Select option thenpress the SRC/OK button toconfirm

The question Delete users? will beshown on the display. To delete alldata, confirm by pressing theSRC/OK button, or cancel bypressing the Ã / q button.

Last callTo dial a number from the call historylists (e.g. dialled numbers, receivedcalls, missed calls), select thefollowing:1. Â / MENU: Press2. R / S: Press to move up/down on

Receiving callsWhen receiving a call, the followingoptions are available:● Â / MENU: Short press

(End a call)When receiving a call, the callernumber may be shown on the display.If the number is stored in the systemmemory, the name will be displayedinstead. If the number cannot bedisplayed, the message Privatenumber will be shown on the display.

NoteThe handsfree phone systemringtone is dependent upon yourmobile phone's personalisedringtones, phone model and mode(silent, vibrate, etc.).

Functions during a telephone callIn addition to volume control, variousfunctions are available during a call:● To put the caller on hold and

disable the microphone, pressthe Ã / q button on the steeringwheel. To resume the call, pressthe Ã / q button again.

● The Call alert function informsyou of another incoming call andallows you to answer theincoming call whilst anotherconversation is in progress, andswitch from one call to the other.To answer the incoming call,press the Â / MENU button onthe steering wheel. The systemwill switch to the incoming phonecall and will put the current

conversation on hold. Press theÂ / MENU button again to switchfrom caller to caller.

● Switch the call from theHandsfree phone system to themobile phone by pressing theSRC/OK button on the steeringwheel. You can talk on yourmobile and continue to use thesteering wheel controls. Inparticular, if you have more thanone active conversation, you canpress the Â / MENU button toswitch from one phone call to theother. Press and hold the Â /MENU button briefly to end thecurrent conversation.

SMS (Short Message Service)The Infotainment system's integratedSMS Message reader reads incomingtext messages on your mobile phonewith via Bluetooth over the vehicle'ssound system.It is possible store up to 20 SMSmessages on the Infotainmentsystem, after which when a newmessage is received, the oldestmessage in the inbox will be deleted.

The SMS Message reader is capableof recognising and reading anyabbreviations and interpreting themost common emoticons, e.g."Smiley".The functions of the SMS Messagereader are managed using thesteering wheel controls 3 8 or voicecommands 3 42.NoteNot all mobile phones support thevoice reading of SMS messages orthe automatic transfer of contacts.Refer to the operating instructions inyour mobile phone handbook orconsult your network provider.

The main functions of the SMSMessage reader are as follows:● Alert you of a new incoming text

message on your mobile phonevia Bluetooth, showing the name/number of the sender on thedisplay.It will also suggest reading themessage to you

● Manage the text message inboxon the mobile phone connectedto the Infotainment system

● Re-read messages that havealready been received and saved

● Make a voice call to the sender ofthe text message, by using thesteering wheel controls or voicecommands

● Delete individual text messagesor the entire SMS inbox, usingthe steering wheel controls orvoice commands.

To operate the SMS functions via thesteering wheel controls, select thefollowing options:1. Â / MENU: Press2. R / S: Press to move up/down on

the display3. MESSAGE READER: Select

option4. SRC/OK: Press to confirm

Scroll through the followingMESSAGE READER options, thenhighlight the desired option, thenpress the SRC/OK button:● Read last one: Reads the last

message received, call thesender of the message, deletingmessage

● INBOX: Shows receivedmessages, reads savedmessages, displays informationand identity of the sender

● DELETE: Deletes a messageThe system will ask you toDELETE?. Confirm the deletionby pressing the SRC/OK button,or cancel by pressing the Ã / qbutton.

● Delete all: Deletes all messagesThe system will ask you to Deleteall?. Confirm the deletion bypressing the SRC/OK button, orcancel by pressing the Ã / qbutton.

Signal typeThe SMS Message reader lets youchoose from three options for thenotification you get when you receivea new text message.To adjust the setting, use thefollowing steering wheel controls:1. Â / MENU: Press2. R / S: Press to move up/down on

Mobile phones and CB radioequipmentInstallation instructions andoperating guidelinesThe vehicle specific installationinstructions and the operatingguidelines of the mobile phone andhandsfree manufacturer must beobserved when installing andoperating a mobile telephone. Failureto do so could invalidate the vehicletype approval (EU directive 95/54/EC).

Recommendations for fault-freeoperation:● Professionally installed exterior

antenna to obtain the maximumrange possible,

● Maximum transmission power10 watts,

● Installation of the phone in asuitable spot, consider relevantNote in the Owner's Manualsection Airbag system.

Seek advice on predeterminedinstallation points for the externalantenna or equipment holder andways of using devices with atransmission power exceeding10 watts.Use of a handsfree attachmentwithout external antenna with mobiletelephone standards GSM900/1800/1900 and UMTS is onlypermitted if the maximumtransmission power of the mobiletelephone is 2 watts for GSM 900 or1 watt for the other types.

For reasons of safety, do not use thephone while driving. Even use of ahandsfree set can be a distractionwhile driving.

9 Warning

Operation of radio equipment andmobile telephones which fail tomeet above mentioned mobiletelephone standards is onlypermitted using an antennalocated outside of the vehicle.

Caution

Mobile telephones and radioequipment may lead tomalfunctions in the vehicleelectronics when operated insidethe vehicle with no exteriorantenna, unless the abovementioned regulations areobserved.
