What is an online Web Shop?
• Is the selling of goods and services on web.
• Customer’s don’t need to search for parking space in front of
retail store, don’t have to wait too long in the cash counter to
make the payment, no need to search for particular product they
need.
• Shopping whenever, whatever, wherever.
• They have to log into web portal, just click on the product they
want to purchase, make payment through credit cards.

• Breaks all geographical boundaries by making available all the
products and services through web.
• Includes Travel as well as non-travel products
• Consumers can browse through large database of products and
they can compare them with other provider, add the product in
their shopping cart or put it in wish list to buy that product in
future.
• With e-shopping, one can reach to global markets and can meet
global customers.

How does an Online transaction take place?1. Web site gets the product directly from the manufacturer at a
lesser rate (Eg. 40% less than the M.R.P.)
2. Consumers can see such products’ advertisement online at discounted rate (10% lesser than M.R.P)
3. Product is purchased by the consumer, either by Plastic money , E-money, or C.O.D. (Delivery Charges extra)
4. Consumer happy to receive the good at discounted rates right at his door-step
5. Web site earns profit even when goods are sold on discounts

Future of E-Shopping• “Indian consumers are showing greater appetite to
transact online, fuelling the e-commerce boom,” said Anuj Kumar, CEO, Affle.
• Growth of 70% during 2011-2012. Same growth is being predicted for 2013
• Increase of “E-Shoppers” due to rise in disposable income among middle class people
• Electronic product sites showing a growth of 12%. Comparative multi-brand sites to show a growth of 25%
• As per IAMAI, current e-commerce market in India is around US$ 10 billion
• The market is also showing the potential to reach upto ‘US$ 240 billion by 2024-25’
