This tutorial will show students, teachers and parents what steps they can take to protect
their personal information on a social networking site, such as Facebook. After viewing
this tutorial, the learner will be able to review and update their Privacy & Security settings
on Facebook to protect their personal information. This will also provide the learner an
idea of what he or she may want to update on other social networks, such as Twitter,
Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.
Social Networking Privacy & Security
Social networking is a great way to keep in touch with friends, family, and coworkers, but
what about the people you don't know viewing your personal information? Why are they
doing it and what are they doing with it?

remember if your boss or a friend's parents are Facebook friends, you may want to use

Privacy Checkup: Profile
Under "Profile" you can view and edit who can see your (1) phone #, (2) email
addresses, (3) birth year and (4) hometown. I have all set to "Only Me", except for my
Facebook email address and my hometown. I would love to let everyone know my full
birth date so I can get extra presents and blessings on my birthday, but I really don't
want someone to steal my identity.

Privacy Settings & Tools: Timeline & Tagging
Under this page, you can view and edit who can post on your timeline, which I will not
allow unless I approve it, first. Wouldn't it be embarrassing if your Sister posted a picture
of you as a baby, covered in spaghetti or what about a picture of you with personal
information in the background or even a post with the geolocation of the photo available
to others who may see that great new car in your driveway, and can now figure out
exactly where it's parked?
Privacy Settings & Tools: Blocking
On this page, you may "Block" others from accessing your page and contacting you,
along with app invites and other requests. I think these options are good if you do not
