Registration & Payment Policy: Registration is required to attend class. Payment is due at the time of registration. Payment can be made by mail, phone, and fax, online or in person.

Full or Cancelled Classes Policy: The Community Education Department reserves the right to limit enrollment or cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. For this reason, please register at least one week before class begins to guarantee your class is not cancelled. Every effort will be made to notify students that a class has been filled or cancelled. Students will receive full refunds for full or cancelled classes.

Bad Weather Cancellation Policy: If SVCC cancels classes due to bad weather, Community Education classes will also be cancelled. Cancellations will be announced on area radio, TV stations and on our website, svcc.edu

Refund Policy: If classes are cancelled due to low enrollment, students will receive a full refund. No refunds will be given to students who do not withdrawal three business days before the first day of class. Business days are Monday through Friday and excludes observed Holidays.

Food Service Sanitation License Renewal This course will meet the needs of certified food service sanitation managers seeking renewal of their FSSMC certificates. TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING – 160 Driving Academy at Sauk Valley Community College

Train to earn your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and prepare for a career in the trucking industry, one of the fastest growing industries in the country. With over 300,000 truck-driving jobs available in the United States, this course is designed for students with little or no commercial driving experience.

The Sauk Valley Community College Truck Driver Training Course, provided by the 160 Driving Academy, includes everything you need to earn a CDL and find your first job as a truck driver.

After successful completion of the four-week course you will take the Secretary of State administered Class A test and receive certificates from Sauk Valley Community College, 160 Driving Academy as well as an Illinois Commercial Driver’s License from the Secretary of State. Most importantly, our staff will work with our numerous trucking partners to secure job placement for you. Courses start every 3 weeks and school runs Monday – Friday; 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Cost of the program is $4,520 and includes cost of permit, drug screen and DOT physical. Students will be charged an additional $10 non-refundable registration fee for this class. Dental Assisting ProgramThe 60 hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions. Students are familiarized with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provided training in the skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, policies, and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure, primary and permanent teeth, the oral cavity and related structures, proper patient positioning, dental hand-pieces, sterilization, and other areas. Medical Billing & Coding ProgramThis combined 80 hour billing and coding course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims, and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation, and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), ICD-10 (Introduction and Guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements. Students will learn how to find the service and codes using manuals, (CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS). Pharmacy Technician ProgramThis comprehensive 50 hour program prepares students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting. It also prepares students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement. Phlebotomy Technician ProgramThis 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Administrative duties, such as fee collection, banking, and accounts payable are also emphasized to provide the student with the skills necessary to maintain an efficient front office.
