JUNE 2019
Congregational Meeting June 9 at 9 a.m.
The Consistory has called a Congregational meeting for Sunday, June 9, at 9am (in-between services). The topics to be discussed and voted on are: 1. The total replacement of the South wing roof.
2. A change to Article IV. # 8 of our Constitution and By-Laws. Current Wording: “All non-budgeted items over $250 must be approved by the Consistory President or another Officer in his/her absence.” Proposed Wording: “All non-budgeted items over $500 must be approved by the Consistory, with the excep-tion of the property board, in which all non-budgeted items over $2,500 must be approved by the Consistory.” Members – Please plan to attend this Congregational meeting. Your opinions and vote are important to the church.
Pentecost Sunday, June 9th, will be a busy day for EvUCC. In addition to our Congregational Meeting at 9am, we will celebrate and recognize all of our members who have been members of EvUCC for 50 years. If you became a member in 1969, please let the church office know so that you can be included in our special recognition. We will also be Commissioning our 7 new BeFrienders into this new and exciting visitation ministry. BeFrienders is our new pastoral care team who have gone through training to learn how to best reach out and journey with people who are experiencing difficult or transitional circumstances or who simply appreciate a visit from time to time. We will also be celebrating Pentecost—Pentecost is the 50th day after Easter when disciples and people from all around the area gathered together and found a COMMON UNDERSTANDING (as symbolized by the Holy Spirit appearing like fiery tongues resting upon them) In recognition of this Holy day, we ask that everyone wear RED!

HELLO from PEPPERMINT PRESCHOOL
The 47th year of Peppermint School is in the books. We had 46 graduates from the 4’s & AK classes. We also had 40 three year-olds complete their first year of Peppermint. Our programs & graduation were held in the beautiful sanctuary on May 20 & 21. All the students entertained their parents with much enthusiasm. The graduation ceremony was wonderful. Each child received their diploma and their parents were filled with pride. Everyone is very proud of all their accomplishments. We will miss our Class of 2019 & wish them all good luck & much success in kindergarten. The sad part of another year done is our west wing hallway…..its bare!!! All of the terrific projects have been taken down & sent home with each child. The good thing is that the summer will go by quickly & we will be meeting many new students along with all that are returning. After school begins it won’t take long for our hallway to be filled with so many wonderful items. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to our Peppermint Assistant Director, Elaine Fenton & also former Pep employee & presently Pep/WC board member Marla Baer for cleaning & changing our storage closet in the basement. You two ROCK!!! It’s a job well done!! Your time is certainly appreciated. We hope our supportive congregation will continue to spread the word about Peppermint. We do have several spots available (especially three year olds) for the 2019-20 school year. Our Peppermint phone number is 654-7600. Thank you so much for helping us fill our classes. It is very hard to compete with the Highland PreK programs. We appreciate any family that enrolls their child into EvUCC Peppermint Preschool !! We hope everyone has a fun, relaxing & wonderful summer. God Bless!
