The apostle Paul proclaimed that he gladly sacrificed all things to position himself to experience more of the excellence and majestic beauty of Jesus and to bring His transforming power to others. Paul was so dedicated to Jesus, because he was so fascinated with Him. As we see what Paul saw about Jesus, we will live like Paul lived.

Many believers know Jesus as their Forgiver, Healer, and Provider, but the Jesus of the Bible is so much more. He possesses a magnificence and grandeur that many never think of. He is the most fascinating Man who ever walked the earth. Oh, that we would be as fascinated with Jesus as Paul was!

Many Christians give their all in ministry but are burned out, spiritually bored, and living with dull hearts. We need a breakthrough in our hearts and in society. Encountering the Jesus of the Bible is the answer to burnout and powerlessness. The revelation of His excellence and magnificence is the sustaining power of our hearts and the transforming power in our ministry to others.

Jesus asked His apostles a significant question: Who do you really think that I am? (see Mt.16:15). They were dedicated men who had given all to follow Him, had healed the sick, and even raised the dead. Yet they needed to encounter Jesus in greater fullness. The Church will be revived to the degree that she encounters the Person of Jesus instead of just working for Him. As we see more of who He is, we will gladly love and serve Him on His terms, with loyalty and devotion. This is the foundation from which our works of justice, missions, and outreach flow.

Today, the most important question the Holy Spirit is asking the Church is: Who do you really think He is? Too many in the Church are giving mental assent to a “contemporary Jesus”; but the world needs the real Jesus, not just a form of Christian religion that has no power to move their hearts or transform their lives (2 Tim. 3:5). We have the truth, and can offer them true beauty, true fascination, true life, which are found in Jesus, who alone is fully man and fully God. He is the One we must proclaim.

Before Joshua led Israel into the promised land, he saw Jesus revealed as the most glorious One, the Captain of the armies of heaven (Josh. 5). Joshua fell on his face, awestruck with the grandeur of the Man standing before him. This equipped him for the victories that were soon to follow. The same principle is true today. Like Joshua, we must come face to face with the glorious truths of who Jesus is, as we “take the land” with increasing spheres of victory and power.

Our prayer for this onething conference is that we would encounter Jesus and go forth to do His works and change the world in partnership with Him.

Until He comes,

Friends,

“I count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:8)

IHOP–KC is an evangelical missions organization that is committed to praying for the release of the fullness of God’s power and purpose as we actively win the lost, heal the sick, feed the poor, make disciples, and impact every sphere of society (family, education, government, economy, arts, media, religion, etc.). Our vision is to work in relationship with the larger Body of Christ to serve the Great Commission, as we seek to walk out the two great commandments to love God and people.

On May 7, 1999, the International House of Prayer Missions Base (IHOP–KC) was founded by Mike Bickle and twenty full-time “intercessory missionaries,” who cried out to God in prayer with worship for thirteen hours each day. Four months later, on September 19, 1999, our prayer and worship expanded to the full 24/7 schedule. We refer to our full-time IHOP–KC staff as “intercessory missionaries.” They raise their own support to work as full-time missionaries who reach out to others from a lifestyle of prayer and worship.

Today, about 2,000 believers (staff, students, and interns) serve full-time, investing fifty hours per week as they go from the prayer room to the classroom and then to ministry outreaches and works of service. Also, as those who are committed to the forerunner message, we are preparing ourselves to prepare others for the unique dynamics of the generation in which the Lord returns.

On September 19, 2009, while celebrating our ten-year anniversary together, we made a sober commitment before God to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice until the Lord returns. Outreach has always been a vital part of our mission. However, at that time, we set our heart to significantly increase our outreach and ministry to others outside our missions base. We are developing many outreach ministries that will continue 24/7 alongside our 24/7 prayer with worship.

Our IHOP–KC ministries and outreaches include increasing our current inner city outreach, Hope City, with on-site food distribution, discipleship programs, provision of food and clothing for children’s outreaches, street clean-up, and a prayer room operating in the inner city several hours every day, working towards night-and-day prayer. Other outreaches include Hannah’s Dream Adoptions and Children’s Justice Initiative to serve orphans and children at risk, and Exodus Cry, helping victims of human trafficking. We are partnering with Women’s Life Center, a local crisis pregnancy center helping women who refuse abortion and choose life. In the future, we plan to provide homes and restoration programs for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, and for prostitutes who respond to the gospel.

We are best equipped to reach out to others when our lives are rooted in prayer that focuses on intimacy with God and intercession for a breakthrough of the fullness of God’s power and purpose for this generation.

As a missions base founded on 24/7 prayer with worship,

we desire to engage in outreach as an outflow of prayer and

intimacy with the Lord, and to minister to others in the power of

the Spirit. By the grace of God, we are committed to

combining 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice,

and are involved in daily evangelistic and inner-city outreaches,

multiple justice initiatives, training missionaries, and

encouraging others as they plant churches and houses of prayer.

Jesus promised to release compassionate works of justice in the

midst of those who cry out for them day and night. He said,

“Will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who

cry out to Him day and night?” (Lk. 18:7). Our missions work is

far more effective in reaching people when it is connected to

fervent, continual prayer.

There is coming a time when life as we know it will be forever changed. The Bible describes it as a time of great revival and trouble and gives us much information on how to walk in the power of the Spirit in those days.

What do Jesus, the apostles, and the Old Testament prophets teach us about Israel and the end times, and how can we better understand and spiritually prepare for the end of the age?

What is the significance of Jerusalem and Israel in God’s end-time salvation purposes?

At this conference we will highlight various facets of the end times, focusing on what the Bible says about the people, places, and events involved.

Forerunners: the Spiritual Violence of John the Baptist

mary of Bethany: extravagant Love and devotion to Jesus

What does wholehearted abandonment to Jesus look like and how are we to live this way? Mike helps to answer these questions through the lens of Mary of Bethany, who was accused of “wasting her life” in her devotion to Jesus.

the Supremacy of God's Love

God created us to be loved and to love. But how do our dull hearts respond to thefiery, passionate love of God? Teaching from the Old and New Testaments, Mike examines the question: How can I feel God’s affection for me and be empowered to love Him with all my heart?

ALL OF HISTORY IS LEADING SOMEWHERE. Creation is groaning, sin is increasing, and believers are lifting their eyes and voices to God in the crescendo of the ages: the return of Jesus to the earth and the redemp-tion of the world. The Bible unveils God’s glorious plan to redeem and restore His creation to its original condition. It is essential for believers to understand this plan in order to have the confidence and clarity to fully engage in God’s purposes today.

In this study manual, Wes Hall shows us that though our world lies in great darkness, God’s plan is to fully complete His work of justice and redemption when Jesus returns to the earth. With our hearts an-chored in this central hope, we can persevere in prayer, be steadfast in love, and boldly proclaim His coming in the midst of the most ad-verse circumstances. With each lesson, Wes unfolds God’s grand story, designed to fascinate us with His wisdom and beauty, as He works through history to make every wrong thing right. This study manual is the starting point for making sense of our past, our present, our future, and God’s will for our lives.

“God has promised to release justice on the earth.”

Wes Hall has been part of the leadership team of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City since 2000 and a faculty member of International House of Prayer University (IHOPU) since its inception. Formerly a practicing lawyer in the City of London, Wes now focuses his energies on intercession for revival and teaching Bible classes at IHOPU. He helped give leadership to the IHOPU Student Awakening which resulted in thousands of testimonies of physical healing, salvation, personal transformation and spiritual renewal, both locally and internationally. Wes has a passion to see God’s people gain a clear understanding of their identity in Christ that would overflow in lives of radical obedience to Jesus in every area of society. He is married to Carol and they have three young children.

The Praying Church Study Series is based on courses taught in the first semester at the International House of Prayer University and is designed to impart the biblical understanding necessary for sustaining corporate and personal prayer. Our enduring hope is that this series will equip and inspire individuals and communities of believers to grow in the knowledge and love of God and to make worship and prayer the foundation of all other activity, so that together we would be the praying church to the glory of Jesus.

FragranceMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

Your name is like ointment poured forthYour name is your character, your nature

It’s the way that you live, it’s your behaviorAnything and everything you are is all wrapped up in that name

And every name has a fragrance, a perfumeIt’s the thing that hits you when they walk into the room

And Jesus if that person is You I will say I love the fragrance of Your name, O Lord

I love the fragrance of Your nameJesus, the fragrance of Your name is humility

The heart of a servant, long sufferingComing down from heaven to earth, You made Your home among men

And being found in appearance as a manYou humbled Yourself, became obedient to the point of death

And I can say with confidence, that there’s no greater love than thisHow I love, how I love the fragrance of Your name

Shepherd of My SoulMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

You while being reviled did not revile in returnWhile suffering You uttered no threats

You kept entrusting Yourself to the righteous Judge on the throneYou bore my sin in Your body on the cross

That I might die to sin And live to righteousness for by Your wounds I’m healed

I was continually straying But now I’ve returned to the Shepherd of my soul

I was continually strayingBut now I’ve returned to the Guardian of my soul

My merciful, faithful High PriestHe lives, He lives to make intercession for me

All That’s InsideMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

I want to give all that’s inside of my heartI want to give all that’s inside of my heart to You

So let there beNo reservations no walls

Just an open door in my heart for You

John the BaptistMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

Years of living in the desert crying out, “Make way for One who’s greater than me.”Now I’m here in prison, death is in my visionIs it true that You’re really He? And You say,“Blind men see and cripples stand to their feetDeaf men hearThe dead are raised, the poor receive good newsAnd blessed are those who are not offended at Me”Many years of leading people to repentanceSoon the Kingdom really will comeNow my time is ending should I be expecting someone elseOr are you the One? And You say,

Jesus, You’re BeautifulMusic and Lyrics by James Kufeldt and Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 James Kufeldt and Jon Thurlow

Spirit of wisdom, open my eyes againSpirit of revelation, open my heart again‘Cause I want to seeLord I want to see, see you rightly JesusI know that Your eyes are like flames of fireI know that Your head is white as woolI know that Your voice it sounds like watersJesus You’re beautifulThere is none like You LordJesus, You’re beautifulThere is no one like You in the heavens or on the earth

FountainsMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

Cast all your cares on Me ‘cause I care for youI care for youAll your fountains are in Me and I have everything you needJust keep coming back to MeThose who call upon My name, they will not be put to shameJust keep coming back to Me. Come to Me if you’re weary and I’ll give you restI’ll give you restMy yoke is so easy and My burden is lessMy burden is less

Dependant on YouMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

Surely I’ve calmed and quieted my soulLike a child rests against his mother

Surely I’ve calmed and quieted my soulThere’s not a care in the world

When I am trusting You completely Help me to trust You, help my unbelief

I want to be dependent, I want to be dependent on You

My Little OneMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

There’s no need to be afraid, Daddy’s here and it’s okayMy love will take the fear away, My little one

Give to Me the doubts and fears, pour out your heart I’ll catch the tearsI’ve always been the God who hears, My little one

You’ve held it in a long, long time, so let it out it’s okay to cryMy heart and arms are open wide, My little one

I’ll hold you close and tight to Me, I’ll help you through the unbeliefI said that I would never leave, My little one

The Man who’s full of grace and truth, one day He will come for youHe’s going to make it all brand new, My little one

On the mountain close to Jacob’s stair, a place for you I have preparedMy light and truth will take you there, My little one

Strong LoveMusic and Lyrics by Zachary Simms, James Kufeldt, and Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Zachary Simms, James Kufeldt, and Jon Thurlow

Things are Not OkayMusic and Lyrics by Jon Thurlow© Copyright 2010 Jon Thurlow

There is coming a day when the Bridegroom is taken awayIn that day they will mourn, in that day they will fastThey will sayThings as they are are not okayWhen someone is missing, someone is absentThings are not okay right nowAnd they won’t be ‘til You come back

The Lord has taken us on a remarkable journey in 2011. By His grace, the fire is still burning on the altar, with the prayer room now in its thirteenth year. Your love, prayer, and financial support strengthen us to continue to fulfill our mandate from the Lord with diligence and focus. So many doors to strengthen the prayer and missions movement are opening to us in the USA and around the world. It is exciting and even a bit overwhelming to manage all of the new opportunities. As you know, we are committed, by the grace of God, to combining 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice.

We saw much growth this last year, as the Lord did marvelous things in our midst. Part of our mandate is to equip young people as forerunners who will proclaim Jesus as Bridegroom, King, and Judge, and prepare themselves to prepare others for the unique dynamics leading up to Jesus’ return and the salvation of Israel.

To expand our capacity to do this, the Lord has taken us on a miraculous journey of provision. He enabled us to renovate and equip our new IHOPU campus and to build a new camp/training center for our Children’s Equipping Center. Additionally, IHOPU can now receive international students, and we have 100+ international students from twenty-eight nations.

Our outreach ministries have significantly expanded to serve those in need, including ministry to at-risk youth, care for the sick and elderly, help for women trapped in human trafficking, and work to stop abortion in our nation.

Our inner city outreach, Hope City, is establishing night-and-day prayer and worship in the inner city, as well as feeding the poor and homeless and reaching out to impoverished children, prostitutes, drug addicts, and ex-convicts.

During a corporate fast this fall, our intercessory missionary staff gave an offering of $150,000 for widows and orphans in Israel. We were blessed by this generosity, knowing that most gave while being in a place of financial need themselves.

This conference, the free webstream of the prayer room, and our justice and compassion ministry outreaches are only possible because of faithful ones who give generously each month, and those who make special contributions from time to time.

Would you ask the Lord about how He may want you to help us as we move forward into 2012, about increasing your monthly gift, or about joining our family for the first time as a Partner? We are confident that the Lord is with us as we labor for the advancement of the prayer movement across the earth, and as we partner with other churches, ministries, and missions movements until the gospel is preached in every nation.

Until He comes,

Mike Bickle

Our Partners have steadfastly kept the fire burning in the prayer room for more than a decade. Will you help keep the flame on the altar in 2012?

Night and DayWe are persuaded that:

24/7 prayers for justice must be joined with 24/7works of justice.

Jesus is worthy of unceasing adoration.

Great change is coming to the Body of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is restoring the first commandment to love God to first place in importance in the Church.

Jesus will end all oppression and bring perfect justice.

The gospel of the kingdom must be preached.

Prayer is the fuel for the works of the kingdom.

We are persuaded that God will change the understand-ing and expression of Christianity in one generation. We want to partner with Him. Will you partner with us?

Our Partners have steadfastly kept the fire burning in the prayer room for more than a decade. Will you help keep the flame on the altar in 2012?

ENCOUNtERING JESUSVisions, Revelations, and Angelic Activity from IHOP–KC’s Prophetic History

Over the last 25 plus years, the Lord has graciously given us about 25 powerful prophetic experiences that provide insight into what will happen in the days ahead in Kansas City, the US, and the nations. These supernatural experiences were given to several prophetic

people in the 1970s and 1980s. They include times when various believers saw the Lord, heard God's audible voice, saw an angel, or had prophetic dreams that were dramatically confirmed. These prophetic experiences are referred to as IHOP–KC's prophetic history. Scripture, being the highest standard and guardian of truth, is our primary light in a dark world. However, the Lord sometimes gives us prophetic experiences to highlight aspects of our specific ministry assignment and to strengthen us in our faith to believe for the release of His extraordinary blessing. For this reason, during IHOP–KC's ten-year anniversary in September 2009, Mike took eight sessions to retell the most important prophetic experiences. Also included is a message by Mike Bickle, entitled "Where does IHOP–KC go from here?" to prepare the IHOP–KC family at this ten-year anniversary for the solemn commitment they made, by the grace of God, to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice until the Lord returns.

How to get this series:

• FREE at MikeBickle.org• $5 MP3 in the bookstore• $10 CD set in the bookstore• $12 DVD set in the bookstore

This 8-part series about IHOP–KC's prophetic history is available in the bookstore at a highly discounted price or as a FREE download on MikeBickle.org.
