Around the world women entrepreneurs are increasing in number, emerging as a glittering jewel of their nationaland global economy. And Korea is no exception.

In particular, Korean women-owned enterprises are shaping up to be the future dynamo of the national economyas their role in exports is expected to bloom, considering the rapidly changing global economic paradigm.

Against this backdrop, the Korea Women Enterprise Support Center has launched a one-stop women-ownedenterprise export promotion program.

This program, supported by the Small & Medium Business Administration (SMBA), features education on exportbusiness strategies, participation in international exhibitions, support in public relations and publicity, etc. It aims tobreathe vigor into women’s export drive like a spreading forest fire. Using a football analogy, the change can bedescribed as moving “from goal keeper to striker.”

It goes without saying that exports have been the locomotive of Korea’s successful industrialization, transformingthe country from one of the world’s poorest states into a global economic powerhouse with a per capita GDP ofnearly US$30,000 in a span of a little more than 50 years.

Therefore, Korean women entrepreneurs’ emergence as important players in the export-import field is expected tofurther fuel the nation’s main economic engine as a powerful force in the global business arena.

In this regard, the Korean women’s business community is looking forward to forging meaningful partnershipsthroughout the world in pursuit of mutual benefits and prosperity in the global economic village.

Introduction

Established in 1971 under the Women Entrepreneur Support Act, the association is therepresentative women’s business organization in Korea, promoting business start-ups bywomen and operating various support programs for women-owned enterprises.

The Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association was established in accordancewith Article 13 of the Women Entrepreneur Support Act.

The Women Enterprise Support Center, which was founded under theWomen Entrepreneur Support Act, provides a variety of activities thatpromote entrepreneurship among women entrepreneurs through 15regional branches.

- Provide women business incubators,information, and education for womenentrepreneurs

- Encourage and promote activities for start-up(Start-up Business School, Women BusinessStart-up Contest, and Education and TrainingCourses for Promoting Young Women CEOs)

- Nurture women exporters (Overseasmarketing business for women-owned companies)

- Provide training and education for women entrepreneurs seeking newmarket access and opportunities

Symbol (WE)

The combination of each rectangle - 'W (Women)' and 'E (Enterprise)' -form the symbol of WE. The Center provides information to womenwho are interested in entrepreneurship and opportunities to exchangeexperiences.
