Three urban flagship missionsnamely Atal Mission forRejuvenation and UrbanTransformation (AMRUT),Smart Cities Mission (SCM)and Prime Minister’s AwasYojana-Urban (PMAY-U) hascompleted four years of itsimplementation Yesterday.Addressing a Press conferencein this connection at CityConvention Centre, Imphal,Commissioner (MAHUD) M.Joy said that Minister of State(Independent charge) Ministryof Housing & Urban Affairs isholding a press conferencethrough video conference from2.30 pm to 3.30 pm Yesterday.As per instruction from theMinistry, a press conference isbeing convened with StateMission Directors, ChiefExecutive Off icers, NodalOff icers and implementingagency of these threemissions.Speaking to media persons,Associate Town Planner ofTown Planning Department, M.Manas Singh said that underPrime Minister’s Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), 27 towns(Urban Local Bodies) wereapproved by the ministry whichcovered 42,651 houses. The project willbe completed within the timeframe. Though DPR has beencompleted, round ofconsultation are still underprocess with the linedepartments. Peoplefamiliar with the developmentshave said India believes itmeets the criteria for a waiverfrom US sanctions on the $5.2-billion deal with Russia for theS-400 missile defence systemand New Delhi cannot “wishaway” its long-standingdefence relations with Moscow.The US has already actedagainst Turkey and China foracquiring the S-400 system andsanctions under theCountering America’sAdversaries ThroughSanctions Act (CAATSA) areexpected to kick in once Indiamakes the first payment toRussia.
