WHAT WE DODepending on the type and development of your pet’s cancer, our staff can offer a variety of treatment options that may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Additionally, clinical trials may offer innovative diagnostics or treatment options for certain types of cancer.

To ensure the best care possible for patients with complicated conditions, clinicians may consult with other services within the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital. The patient’s comfort and well-being is our top priority.

HOW WE DO ITThe Oncology Service offers specialized testing for the diagnosis of cancer. This includes:

• Imaging (digital radiography, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI and nuclear medicine)

• Biopsies • Cytology • Flow cytometry WHO WE ARE

The Oncology Service is composed of two medical oncology faculty, two radiation oncology faculty and one surgeon who has completed a fellowship in surgical oncology. Additionally, four graduate veterinary residents and one intern are training in the specialty of oncology. Four support staff also assist in providing patient care and comfort.

The Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital is one of the nation’s leading medical facilities for animal health care, while also providing hands-on clinical education to senior-level students enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The 208,000-square-foot facility is one of the largest and most technologically-advanced teaching and referral hospitals in the country.

APPOINTMENTSAppointments can be made by referral from your primary care veterinarian. At the time of referral they will be asked to provide copies of previous tests and reports. We also accept referrals directly from owners and we can reach out to your primary care veterinarian for background information. All referrals to the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital require appointments. For more information on appointments, go online to www.vetmed.auburn.edu.
