“On the Road with Jesus” Christ in our neighborhoods.

June 22 - 23, 2019 | Weekly Newsletter of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church “On the Road with Jesus” - Summer is a time when many of us are on the road. Jesus goes on the road in the Gospel of Luke, “Soon afterward He went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the Kingdom of God.” Join us for the summer series, “On the Road with Jesus.” We will see where Jesus goes, what He says and does, how it’s received, and what He does next. We also look at Jesus’ travels in our context. What does Jesus do in our lives? How do we receive it? What does He do next for us? The series begins this weekend, with Jesus healing a demon-possessed man by commanding the evil spirits to instead go into a sounder of pigs. Understanding the actions of Jesus opens our eyes to how the world regards outcasts in our society, and our response to God working through Jesus Christ in our neighborhoods. Our final Voters’ Meeting of this fiscal year is after the 11am service next Sunday, June 30. We will approve the 2019-2020 budget, receive Board reports and an update on the Capital Campaign “Renewing Our Shepherd,” and hear how God is at work through His church. We recognize all graduates this weekend, celebrating your success. God has blessed you with knowledge and wisdom, which He uses to work through you in the world. As you embark on an exciting future, always remember Jesus’ promise from Matthew 28: “I will be with you always, even until the end of the earth.” Congratulations and God’s richest blessings. We are creating an “On the Road with Jesus” wall in the Atrium. Please email photos of your family “on the road” this summer, whether at the zoo, at the beach, on a family bike ride, on vacation . . . take a photo of your adventures as you’re out and about, as we remember Jesus is with us everywhere we go. Email photos to [email protected] and they will be posted. Tag your photos #OTRWJ in social media. We have “on the road” take away logo sheets for you to hold up in your photos at the Welcome Center. Please help yourself! You are also invited to send scenic “background” photos (without people) to Katie Priskorn, for potential use in our summer powerpoint presentations ([email protected]). You just might see your photo up on the big screen!

Dear OS Family, I would like to thank you so much for the prayers, cards and condolences on the passing of my wife, Nancy. A special thanks to Pastor Vieregge for dropping everything and coming to the hospital on the night of her passing, the wonderful sermon at the memorial service, and especially Katie and Andy for doing a fantastic job with music at the memorial service. I would also like to thank Mark Nimtz for the regular visits and bringing Nancy the sacrament.
