A Kindergarten classroom is the greatest place to be!
We make new friends.
We play new games.
There are so many things to see!
We use our hands to cut and glue
And color pictures, too.
We use our ears to hear a lot of stories-
Some are true!
We learn about our letters
So that they can help us read.
We learn to help each other
So we all have what we need.
If you want to know a special place
Where you can learn and grow
Then come to Kindergarten….
It’s the greatest place I know!
Your Kindergarten Teacher
Dear Parents,
Spotsylvania County understands that
children develop skills at varying
rates. The normal range of skill
acquisition can vary by months from
one child to the next. This booklet is
a general guide for kindergarten
readiness. Non-mastery of specific
skills or activities included in this
booklet does not indicate that your
child is not ready for kindergarten.
Rather, it may indicate the need for
your child to be continuously exposed
to activities that will encourage skill
development in these areas before
and after starting kindergarten. If
your child has been identified as
having a disability, expectations for
skill acquisition may be modified. In
this booklet, you will find specific
activities that you can do with your
child to encourage skills for school
success. It is our hope that you will
enjoy completing these activities
with your child. Please do not feel
pressured to have your child know
how to do everything included. Many
skills and activities will be learned
during the kindergarten year.
