On Friday, October 31, 2008, the North American Earth Liberation Front Press Office (NAELFPO) re-opened...

Originally founded in the year 2000, the NAELFPO exists to report on the

covert actions taken by the Earth Liberation Front and other groups

and individuals in defense of the environment.

The Earth Liberation Front (ELF) is an international, underground

movement consisting of autonomous groups of people who carry out

direct action in defense of the planet. From 1996 through the current

day, the ELF has committed dozens of actions throughout the United

States, Europe and Canada against developers, logging companies,

genetic engineering research and companies, ski resorts, SUV

dealerships and more. The damages inflicted to these companies and

government agencies have totaled well over $150 million. Since the

year 2000, the FBI has categorized the Animal Liberation Front (ALF)

and ELF as number one domestic terrorist threats in the United States.

In memory of Barry Horne…

Barry Horne was an animal

liberation activist who died in a

UK prison hospital on November

5 2001. He had been

sentenced to 18 years in prison

for various acts of sabotage

and arson attacks, mainly

against companies involved in

vivisection. In prison he went on

hunger strike several times in

protest against government

support for the vivisection

industry, and their broken pre-

election promises about animal

experiments. The third of these

hunger strikes lasted 68 days,

and Barry never fully

recovered.

His actions generated

worldwide publicity, and

initiated a huge upsurge in

animal liberation activity, the

effects of which are still being

felt even today.

On Nov. 5, 2001 Barry Horne gave

his life for animal liberation. Seven

years later we, a group of

activists, continue his fight

through direct action. In the early

hours of November 5, 2008 with

bolt cutters we broke the padlock

of the estate of a society of

hunters in the village of Vizcaya.

They had a boar caged inside

waiting to be killed. We opened

the gate and released him.

Each year in Euskadi, [Spain]

hunters kill tens of thousands of

animals. We have saved one. It

may sound insignificant, but he

has found freedom.

Prepared and determined

activists of the Frente de

Liberación Animal – Comando

Verde Negro (FLA-CVN) took to

the streets November 5 to

remember the struggle and fight

of our compañero Barry Horne.

We had been thinking about

visiting another target when

suddenly a truck that was

transporting chickens for

slaughter was ahead of us. Inside

a building the killers were

crowding animals into small boxes

to later bring them to a certain

death; in a spontaneous action,

in anger, not caring whether we

were discovered, we quickly

snatched from the truck 8 hens

and carried them to freedom.

With this liberation and other acts

of sabotage throughout this year

of direct action in Mexico, we

showed the exploiters that the

struggle of our fellow fighter Barry

has not ceased and that on the

contrary it is increasing.

FALSE BOMBS IN MEXICO

In a first joint action: an informal

coordination of groups and

individuals for action and for

animal and earth liberation,

between 4 and 5 in the morning

of Friday, November 7, 10

'Bonanno devices' (these are:

false bombs, molotov's,

incendiary devices... that in this

case were 10 false bombs) were

placed at the seats of capitalism

and exploitation.

Those that received this warning

were: Burger King's, McDonald's

and K.F.C..

In addition to being a sabotage

against the exploitation of flora

and fauna, the second purpose

of this action was to create

'nervousness and paranoia in the

institutions of the repressive state',

and to break the imposed social

order, since those who defend

capitalism also defend animal

exploitation.

In this decentralized action the

'Bonanno devices' were

distributed in different areas of

the State of Mexico and Mexico

City.

The informal coordination of

10 TURKEYS LIBERATED

Netherlands: In the beginning of

november the Animal Liberation

Front rescued 10 turkeys from the

meat industry. These beautiful

animals were being bred to end

up as a christmas meal.

We saved 10 lives. These animals

will never be hurt. These animals

will get all the respect, love and

warmth they deserve.

We dedicate this action to Barry

Horne.

RABBIT FARM RAIDED

On the eve of Barry Horne's

death, a group of volunteers

accessed a rabbit 'meat' farm in

Berkshire, U.K. This farm used to

harbour hundreds of rabbits in the

back of converted box lorries, but

have recently upgraded their

bunny butchering enterprise to

four permanent and highly

intensive units. Semi-built and set

to be filled with hundreds of

rabbits, we entered the site and

bypassed top security measures..

the key was left in the door!

One unit was so full of rubble and

electricity cables we almost didn't

expect to find any animals in such

conditions. Further inspection

found rows of cages, many with

rabbits inside. All living on wire,

many rabbits were blind, had ears

missing and were rotting alive

inside this windowless hell.

Even within a legal system that

legitimises animal abuse, this sicko

has still managed to torture

animals beyond any legal

requirements. The unit was in total

disrepair, flooded with a mix of

water and excrement, with open

elecrticity wires and strewn with

litter. None of the units had

ventilation or air conditioning

systems, despite being newly built.

This farm was an excellent

example of what 'animal welfare'

means for animals: fuck all.

Needless to say we decided to

make some legal corrections.

After taking several rabbits to

safety, who are now recovering in

loving homes, we turned our

attention to stopping this 'man'

filling any more cages with

defenceless animals. We cut

every empty cage into pieces.

Fuse boxes and machinery were

glued and filled with expanding

foam. Messages were left on the

outer walls and doors before we

vanished back into the darkness

with our newly acquired friends.

This action was carried out in the

memory of Barry, who continues

to be an inspiration to us all

despite his death at the hands of

the british government.

late evening of December 19 two

cars were destroyed by fire in the

driveway of a NYSE Euronext

senior executive.

A recent visit to the White Crag

Plantation, found just next to Ilkley

Moor, led to fencing of a

pheasant pen being cut and

brought down. This fencing has

been recycled following a similar

incident, we guess that if you

have several pieces of fencing all

with large holes, and you use

them to cover each other, it

makes one solid piece of fence.

However, after our last visit this is

no more. Two water butts were

smashed up and pheasant

feeders tipped over and their

springs removed. Two bags of

pheasant feed were also

emptied. After this some nearby

grouse butts were toppled.

It is clear that the concern of

Councillor Anne Hawksworth over

grouse population stretches only

so far as to her position in the

shooting fraternity. She supports

the small bunch of shooting

extremists led by Edward Bromet

to pleasure themselves over the

killing of the artificially managed

grouse, while persecuting other

animals that rightfully belong to

the moor; and we declare this

attitude as disgraceful.

We call for Ilkley Moor to be a

haven for wildlife and not a killing

zone, demarcated by a few

fanatics who wish to boast about

their 'pursuits'

The population of grouse across

Rombalds moor have been

decimated, and any serious

walker would testify to that fact,

Sabs from Gloucestershire were

out on Saturday to attempt to

stop a shoot at Brimpsfield Park in

the beautiful Cotswold

countryside. The first shoot of the

day saw four sabs stop 5 of

around 15 of the shooters who

then broke guns and counted

their losses. This meant that any

birds flying to the left in the valley

were able to get away this time.

Unfortunately the police were

called just as the second shoot

started and an Inspector and

Sergeant of Gloucestershires cops

made threats of arrest using the

aggravated trespass card and

sections of the Criminal Justice

Act to ban us from the area. They

didn’t take any details from us

which so we have decided we

will be back very soon.

15th Novemeber 2008

The Cotswold countryside is a hive

of shooting activity with

sometimes dozens of shoots

taking place in a radius of a

couple of miles. We headed to

Syde park this weekend to check

an area of woodland that had

been pegged out for shooters.

Sure enough we heard gunshots

although not in the area we

expected. We spotted a beater

five fields across using our

binoculars and ran down into the

valley ahead of the driven area.

Sure enough a line of shooters

stood in a small managed

clearing at the bottom of the

valley. We shouted break guns

and most of them did bar two

shooters who almost shot a flag

that one of us was using to make

ourselves visible. As no private

property signs were displayed

and no red “danger” flag was

visible we assumed it was safe to

merrily walk in front of these

guys... apparently not… When we

were reluctant to leave what we

thought was a public area Terry

became quite angry and shouted

and swore at us telling us to “GET

OFF MY LAND”… With this the

shoot called lunch early and the

morning shoot was called off!

MINK RELEASED ACROSS THE GLOBE

3000 FREED IN CANADA

According to media reports, early

on October 16 approximately

3000 mink were released from La

Visonnière Labonté de Thetford

Mines, the largest fur farm in

Quebec.

Farm director Pierre Labonté told

a local newspaper, "Not only did

they open the cages and release

mink, but they also destroyed

their pedigree cards, which is the

trademark of anti-fur militants."

(The cards contain irreplacable

information about an individual

animal's life history.) With the loss

of genetic information, Mr.

Labonté said the escaped mink

are no longer useful for breeding.

"We have insurance that protects

us against theft, but not against

this type of crime," he addded

and estimated losses at $200,000.

THOUSANDS FREED - ITALY

November 2, 2008 – Rome: Tonino

Sbardella has been ruining the

lives of thousands of mink for

years inside the 15 sheds of his

concentration camp on Mink

Road in San Cesareo (Roma).

Inside the farm there were a lot of

old cages that have been

replaced by new cages, a few

centimetres bigger... centimetres

we do not care about... We do

not want to see any living being

inside bigger cages.

Tonight thousands of mink had

the opportunity to feel real

freedom, made of soft ground

and running water to dive in.

Someone will say that many of

the mink will end up under the

tyres of cars, but we ask you: is

there so much difference from a

life in a cage waiting for a death

sentence that has already been

decided? We know the answer

and tonight we acted, tearing

down fences and opening all the

cages. This action, for those

sharing our ideas, is an invitation

to take part in the struggle, acting

in this direction and going

beyond your fears.

As it has been written on the walls

of the farm:

'Freedom cannot be asked for, it

can only be taken!'

This farm has been raided at least

three times before, in 07, 05 & 98.

2000 FREED IN ITALY

According to a newspaper in

northern Italy, someone entered a

fur farm in Via Mazzarana

(Mercadello di Novi, Modena)

early in the morning of November

5 and opened the cages of

around 2,000 mink. Some of the

mink were recaptured but many

are still free in the fields

surrounding the farm. The farm

was subject to a similar raid seven

years ago.

6000 FREED IN FINLAND

We went to a fur farm in

Lappajärvi in the night between

17-18.11. We dyed all the 600

foxes of the farm with non-toxic

henna, took all the breeding

cards and opened all the cages.

We liberated the foxes to mess

the breeding records, so the

farmer won't know which animal

was in which cage. This together

with removing the breeding cards

guarantees the fact that years of

breeding work and information

has gone to waste.

We also sabotaged some farm

machinery, for example the

device that was used to

electrocute foxes to death. We

also left a message to the farmer

on a building: Welcome to work!

Animals in the farm were in really

bad shape. Many of them had

bad eye-infections and disformed

legs. We also saw a fox in a cage

that had been dead for long

time. Some of them had gingivitis.

Some of the cages were torn and

broken so that animals could hurt

themselves. Some of the foxes

were really fat.

Our message to the fur farmers is

this: We will never leave you

1000 FREED IN GREECE

The ALF has claimed responsibility

for the liberation of 1000 mink at a

fur farm in the town of Siatista.

(The area of northern Greece,

including the town of Siatista, is a

major manufacturing center for

the fur industry in Europe.)

reconstruction, in Mexico State,

and we found ourselves inside, in

that place where dozens of

defenseless bulls are murdered

and where they had been

planning to go back to torturing…

LETTER FROM SEAN KIRTLEY

At 7:00am on May 9th 2006 police

raided nine homes across the

Midlands and subsequently

arrested twelve activists over a 48

hour period. The door on my

house had been so violently

battered that there was only two

shards of wood hanging of the

remaining hinges. Police arrested

me and spent nine hours

searching the premises while my

partner remained in the house,

not pleasant at all. A

megaphone, banners, thousands

of leaflets, mobile phones,

computer, digital camera,

clothes, letters, discs were all

seized as evidence of my

involvement in the campaign

against Sequani animal testing

lab in Herefordshire. The others

that were raided all had similar

property seized.

After being charged and bailed

for almost two years the case

went to court in January 08 at

Birmingham crown court. Seven

of us were charged with

'conspiracy to interfere with an

animal research organisation' and

put on trail.

The bulk of the evidence against

me related to the stop Sequani

animal testing website, which I

ran and my use of PGP email

encryption and other privacy

tools that were on my PC. It was

suggested that I organised demos

outside Sequani and companies

that did business with Sequani

although the SSAT website had a

policy of not advertising demos! It

was then suggested because of

the amount of phone calls

between myself and other

defendants (phone logs

submitted by the relevant

telephone providers) that I must

TIME TO SHOW THE ANIMAL ABUSING MONEYMEN THAT TRADING IN BLOOD MONEY IS BAD BUSINESS....

This is a call for action in the heart of London and at the heart of

animal abuse. Without the trading of HLS' stocks and shares, and

without shareholders, HLS would cease to exist.

HLS' share price has dropped by over 75% in the past month (see

graph below), and now is the time to react. Apart from shocking

animal cruelty, scientific falsification and employed sex offenders, the

New York Stock Exchange now have an extra reason to kick HLS off

the stock exchange. HLS are still seriously in debt - having only paid off

a fraction of their debt interest and not the debt itself - and are

financially unstable. We can reveal this is partly due to having recently

lost two major customers.

Militant antispeciesists will be meeting at the Bank of England, 12noon.

As we pass several important financial corporations that are directly

responsible for keeping HLS open, the march will stop for 5 – 10 minutes

per target - so don’t forget to mask up for direct action!

the telephone. Even though the

defendants were friends and

friends call each other to chat

and socialise. Even if I had been

organising demos all were

peaceful affairs anyway usually

involving a mega phone or two

and plenty of placards.

After an 18 week trial where the

jury were bussed in from a secret

location, the press and other

reporters were banned from

covering the case, police were

'on guard' outside the courtroom,

where supporters were banned

from wearing any animal welfare

logos on clothing, the merest

mention of experiments on

animals at Sequani was

outlawed. I was the only one to

be found guilty of conspiracy

after the jury had been out for

many days deliberating. My

appeal against sentence and

conviction was launched on June

20th this year and has yet to be

heard.

I was remanded to Winson Green

prison in Birmingham on May 14th

and sentenced at Coventry

crown court on May 30th 08.

The judge called me 'a sinister

criminal' who ' has done nothing

for my cause' sentenced me to

four and a half years in prison and

imposed a five year supper ASBO

on my release in August 2010

banning me from Herefordshire

and from contacting Sequani for

the duration. The unlawful action

that contravened section 145

SOCPA mentioned during the trial

were:

· Lengthy and informative faxes

had been sent to suppliers of

Sequani during demos, there was

no evidence to suggest that I or

any other defendants had sent

these faxes.

· Aggravated trespass had taken

place at demos by defendants

(including myself) standing in the

car parks of suppliers even

though there were police present,

also entering buildings but leaving

when asked to.

· Sequani workers, and workers of

companies that supply Sequani

had been 'upset' by the demos

also a few neighbours in the

vicinity of the lab had been

'upset' by the demos.

During prosecution evidence

being given there was no

suggestion that any 'home

demos' or direct action' had

been at Sequani or its workers.

This was a campaign that had

'upset' those that are licensed by

the home office to experiment on

innocent, defenceless animals

and because of that 'upset' I sit

here in my cell writing this short

recall of how I ended up here.

I've always fought for the

oppressed whether human or non

human, either by encouraging

mutual aid or exposing the truth

regarding the way we treat other

sentient beings for our own selfish

ends.

The support and outrage, inside

and outside, continues to be

brilliant, from supporters, family

and friends and continues to get

me through this time of repression.

'If you aren't being effective at

changing the world for the better,

they aren't interested, if you are,

WHALERS ON THE RUN

Anti-whaling activists on

board the Sea Shepherd

Conservation Society ship

Steve Irwin have intercepted

the Japanese whaling fleet

on Friday 19 December. The

encounter took place in

dense fog, ice conditions and

winds picking up to 50 knots

approaching blizzard

conditions.

Sea Shepherd launched an

inflatable boat to launch a

rotten butter bomb attack on

the Yushin Maru No 2, but the

inflatable was recalled due to

weather conditions. The

Yushin Maru No 2 then

headed north with the Steve

Irwin staying in pursuit of the

rest of the Japanese whaling

fleet. The whaling fleet has for

the moment stopped whaling

activities and is running with

Sea Shepherd in pursuit.

In an action of liberation by an

autonomous cell of the FLA in

Colombia a puppy who was

going to be used in vivisection by

students of the local university

was removed from a stall. We

learn, but not in a system that

replicates itself ignorantly; death

SALMON FREED IN SWEDEN

Excerpts from the Swedish Animal

Liberation Front communiqué:

“On the night of 21 November

more than 100,000 salmon were

liberated from two fish farms in

northen Sweden. These two fish

farms are a part of the huge

Swedish fish farming industry that

kills over 5 billion fish every year. In

a fish farm, tens of thousands of

fish live cramped in net-cages

without any chance to engage in

their natural behaviors, like

traveling long distances… At

Näske Lax AB more than 100,000

salmon were liberated by cutting

all the net-cages that were

holding the fish. A boat motor

was also destroyed and some

tires slashed. A spray can was

emptied painting messages from

the DBF.

The farm is not insured and after

economic losses of millions of

Swedish Kroner, the farmer

doesn't think he will be able to

open up the business again.

The second farm visited the same

night was Ålands fiskförädlings, a

big floating facility hundreds of

meters out in the sea. After rowing

out to the facility we cut as many

net-cages as possible before

dawn, releasing lots of fish.

Direct action saves lives!

Both by saving individual animals

and also by economic sabotage

we make it harder and less

profitable to continue to torture

and kill animals...”

BULLRING ARSON IN SPAIN

On the night between

Wednesday and Thursday we put

incendiary devices in the

Cascante (Navarra) bullring. They

worked and they were effective.

Bullfighting is a symbol of animal

exploitation in which bulls are

tortured and killed because there

are people who find it fun. But we

are against all forms of animal

exploitation, and we believe in

veganism as a response to such

exploitation and as a way of life.

We want to dedicate the action

to the bulls and horses who have

been tortured, humiliated and

murdered in this arena that we

have burned.

Grigoropoulos in downtown

Athens, to the time of this writing,

Greece has seen unprecedented

rioting. Anarchists and students,

significant swaths of the

population, have clashed with

police, destroyed corporate and

government property, and

occupied government buildings,

trade union offices, and media

outlets, not to mention the usual

universities. By December 12,

police had used over 4600

capsules of tear gas, and were

seeking more from Israel and

Germany—an ominous pair of

nations, when it comes to

repression.
