Gujarat Technological University has established Community Innovation & Co-Creation Centre

(CiC3) at GTU’s Ahmedabad Campus, ACPC Building, LDCE Campus, Ahmedabad to promote

innovation and to provide a facilityfor the students, where they can develop products and test new

ideas. C-i-C3 regularly organizes workshops and seminars to upgrade knowledge and build

advanced skills among the students of Engineering.

GTU organized two day Workshop on EYE - ROBOTICS "An Autonomous Robo Scoccer" on

2nd

and 3rd

Jan 2016 at C-i-C3, GTU, Ahmedabad. 73 participants registered for the workshops and

GTU invited all of them. All students were guided in brief about Arduino board. The sessions on

both the days were for hands- on practical experience on Arduino Board.

The workshop began with a welcome address and introduction of CiC3 to student by Prof. Raj

Hakani.

An autonomous robot is a robot performs behaviours with a high degree of autonomy. In Robo

Soccer Workshop, students were taught about how to create Robot that process, analyse and

understand the information that is translated into decisions for robots. Prof. Raj Hakani was a

Mentor for both the sessions of the workshop.

Prof. Raj Hakani introducedstudents about concept of CiC3 Lab and He motivated students to

register their project in CiC3 and take maximum benefit of resources and knowledge provided

in Workshop.




DAY - 1

On first day of workshop students learned about image processing for Soccer Robot which include

the following topics:

Introduction to Image Processing and MATLAB

Camera interfacing on MATLAB Software

Colour detection in MATLAB

Object Position mapping

Serial interface in MATLAB

On second day of workshop Arduino Interface for Soccer Robot was taught to students in which

students finally learnt how to combine software and hardware to create autonomous robot.

Topics of second day of workshop were:

Basics of Arduino

Make LED Patten

LED Patten with Serial interfacing with Arduino and MATLAB

Motor interfacing in Arduino

Serial interfacing in Arduino

MATLAB Arduino integration

During the two days of workshop, GTU provided all participants’ Team Arduino board and all other

hardware for Hands on Practical. Students created their own soccer robot prototype at the end of the

workshop which drives autonomously by detecting colour of ball.

The EYE ROBOTICSChallenge is a fun and friendly contest organized by the CiC3. Show

your Image Processing skills in our Challenge. Team of 4 (max) can register any problem

statement and solve that problem using an Image Processing (only) or Image Processing with

any Controller board.
