The objective of the project is capacity building in the area of Information Security to address the human resource requirement of the country. The project aims to develop core research manpower, introduction of Information Security curriculum, training of Government Personnel, creating awareness about the Information Security among all sections. With an enhanced reliance on Cloud Computing Infrastructure and with the ease of Internet access, illegal cyber activity has become very common and posing ever increasing threat to law enforcement, national security, and information assurance. Often, the evidences of these illegal activities are concealed in large volumes of data that needs to be scrutinized to detect crimes. This is not trivial. It involves a disciplined coordination among multidisciplinary areas of study, research and implementation: that encompasses law, computer science, telecommunications, data analytics to name a few. This Workshop on “Digital Forensics: From Theory to Practice” is to be Organised by National Institute of Technology, Durgapur and CDAC Kolkata, in the capacity of being Participating Institutes for implementing Information Security Education and Project under the aegis of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The workshop is designed as a short-term knowledge-cum-skill oriented course in Digital Forensics, for five days, covering both Theoretical Lecture Sessions and Laboratory Sessions providing hands-on experience for the attendees.
