We are a non-profit organization offering a variety of programs that impact young girls, families and our community. Our goal is to provide an impactful and empowering experience that will motivate a transformation for all those that attend. The mission of NCBW is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment.

Our annual awards luncheon honors the first female self-made millionaire and business leader, Madam C.J. Walker. We take this time to celebrate the rich tradition of hard work, while making an impact on the community with an entrepreneurial spirit that is deeply rooted in the African- American culture. In the tradition of Madam C.J. Walker, we will honor four outstanding women as well as the 2020 Positive Steps Essay Contest winner.

Our signature mentoring program, “Positive Steps”, provides young women ages 12–17 the opportunity to recognize their full potential through educational, developmental, and cultural programs focusing in the areas of health and wellness, careers, leadership and personal development.

Every year we award scholarships for high school graduates and continuing college students, as well as "Working Women" scholarships for low-to-moderate income women who are returning to college to complete their educational pursuits that increase opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.

We launched the “Sistahs Getting Real About HIV/AIDS” program in 2003 to educate women and men in our community regarding their status. This program has expanded each year and now serves as a model for our national organization throughout the United States.

In partnership with West Oakland Health Center, we sponsor a Community Health Fair for 200 neighborhood residents, which provides free flu shots, HIV/AIDS testing, dental screenings for children and numerous other health related benefits and information booths.

With your sponsorship and partnership, we will continue to offer these key programs to the Bay Area community. Additionally, your company will be recognized for its commitment in

building stronger healthier communities with a lasting impact. This vital support has afforded us the opportunity to transform lives by awarding over $550,000 in individual scholarships, mentoring over 500 girls for the past 20 years, and providing access to health screenings and community resources to over 1000 individuals.

We have several sponsorship levels for you to support our annual fundraiser. The details and benefits are outlined in the enclosed attachments. Please indicate your support by returning the enclosed sponsorship form to NCBW, P.O. Box 24231, Oakland, CA 94623-1231 or contacting Cathy Adams of CDA Consulting Group at (510) 653-4085 or by email at [email protected]. We look forward to sharing this opportunity to show how your sponsorship serves to improve our community.
