COMPANY PROFILE

BACKGROUND

Excellent Electrical Projects CC is a small but aspiring company with ambitions to become a reputable industry leader in electrical engineering and electronic security systems. Our aspirations have been clearly demonstrated by our humble beginnings to the operational magnitude we have reached so far, being able to successfully complete sizeable projects with state entities and private organizations.

Our development is substantially, but not exhaustively, attributable to the ambitious nature and drive demonstrated by our key personnel. The director of Excellent Electrical Projects CC has obtained extensive experience in electrical engineering and electronic security system. For the past 8 years, we have been involved in projects, mainly characterized by the following:

Logistical arrangements and service teams

Operational Management

A site team is typically be led by Technical Supervisor who should have sufficient experience in the work being carried out on the site. Each team also has a qualified electrician or technician who is proficient in the work being done, and be well versed with safety procedures and safe ways to carry out each task comprising the operation for which he is responsible as assigned by the Technical Supervisor. The Technical Supervisor reports directly to the company Directors and the Project Manager.

Transport

The necessary vehicles required to undertake a project should typically be available on hand prior to commencement of work in order to ensure swift operational procession. Such vehicles typically include heavy vehicles, passenger vehicles and light delivery vehicles (bakkies) required to transport the teams, tools and material in and around the project site.

Tools and equipment

Similarly, (as with transport) the necessary tools required for the project should also be available before work commences to ensure that there are no operational breaks due to lack of tools and/or equipment. The tools for each team would typically include all necessary hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, safety equipment, fibre glass step ladders etc.

Reporting

Operational updates, and/or any necessary information, are typically submitted to the Project Manager on a daily basis to ensure that tasks are being completed on time without incidence. This also to ensure that any potential set-backs that may derail the project may be identified and resolved in a timely manner to ensure that there are no extensive and frustratingly disruptive delays. A project programme is prepared and updated daily so that any relevant information required by a Project Manager can be easily obtained.

We currently have the capacity to provide project management services. We are able to offer these services for projects worth up to ZAR13 000 000.00. Specifically, we offer the following project management services:

Construction monitoring

• Monitor the outputs from another party’s, or contractor’s, quality assurance programme, against the requirements of the plans and specifications.

• Visit the work sites at specified and frequent intervals, as agreed with the client, to review important materials, critical work procedures and/or completed elements or components

• Be available to advice contractors on the technical interpretation of the plans and specifications

• Maintain a full-time or part-time presence on site, as agreed with the client, to review random samples and review important completed work prior to enclosure or upon completion as appropriate.

• Constantly review work procedures and construction materials for compliance with the requirements of the plans and specifications, and review completed work.

• Review the contractor’s quality management systems or quality assurance systems.

• The overall co-ordination, programming of design, construction and financial control of the projects.

• Resolution of differences that may arise between the client and contractors, excluding mediation, arbitration or litigation.

• Approval of certificates for payment to contractors, before they are presented to the client

• Approval of the final contract account for the project as a whole.

• Carrying out the administration of the project as is necessary on behalf of the client

• Make arrangements to provide client with such record drawings as may be required for the proper record of the works as constructed, and such manuals, as may be required for the operation and maintenance of the relevant part of the works

Brief Commentary of Work Experience

Started as a student technician with Palace Consulting Engineers in 2005 responsible for the design and management of a variety of projects ranging from building services, township reticulations, installation and maintenance of security systems in buildings, tender process and Project Management, compilation of tender documents and contract Technical Specifications and Electrical LV reticulation and lightning and Overhead design of MV and LV Reticulations.

Founded Excellent Electrical Projects in 2008 whilst still working for Palace Consulting Engineers. At the time, the company was not actually involved in any work, as the director was still learning the necessary traits for establishing and running the company.

He joined MLK Consulting as a clerk of works responsible for the quality of work done by Eskom Contractors.

Towards the end of the contract at MLK Consulting, he began to focus on establishing Excellent Electrical Projects doing some work for Ekurhuleni Municipality.
