Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1

Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1 works with Omnicast 4.8 SR1 to provide additional features. This document describes the new features, newly supported hardware, resolved issues, known issues, and limitations for Omnicast 4.8 SR1 and Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1. It also includes installation instructions. For a complete description of the Omnicast 4.8 SR1 release, see the Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Release Notes.

Installing the Hardware Integration Package 1

Installing the Hardware Integration Package 1

The Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1 is an add-on to Omnicast 4.8 SR1. The package must be installed on all computers running the Archiver service, and any machines running Omnicast client applications.

Install Hardware Integration Package 1Before you begin: Make sure Omnicast 4.8 SR1 software is installed. For more information about installing Omnicast, see the Omnicast Installation and Upgrade Guide. Click here for the latest version of this document.

1 Open the Server Admin and stop the Archiver service.2 Close all Client applications (Server Admin, Config Tool, Live Viewer, Archiver Player,

and Discovery Tool).3 In the Hardware Integration Package folder, click setup.exe.4 Follow the instructions in the installer.

Install Hardware Integration Package 1 in Silent ModeOmnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1 can be installed without any prompts or visual feedback using a command line.

Before you begin: Make sure Omnicast 4.8 SR1 software is installed. For more information about installing Omnicast, or about arguments used in the command line, see the Omni-cast Installation and Upgrade Guide. Click here for the latest version of this document.

1 Click Start > All Programs > Run, and type cmd in the Run dialog box.2 Point the command line to the folder where the setup.exe and .msi files are located for

the Hardware Integration Package.3 In the command line, type:

setup /s /v"/qn ALLUSERS=1 ADDLOCAL=ALL"

NOTE The ALLUSERS property can be set to 1 or 2.

ALLUSERS=1: Installs the package for all users, but the current user must have administrator privileges.

ALLUSERS=2: Installs the package for all users if the current user has administra-tive privileges. If the current user does not have administrative privileges, the pack-age is only installed for the current user.

ATEME VSS-441-R4TE supportATEME VSS-441-R4TE units are supported in Omnicast. Additional configuration is required on the unit’s Web page before adding the unit in Omnicast. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Audio out anti-jitter bufferAn audio out anti-jitter butter is implemented for Axis, Sony, and Verint extensions in Omnicast. With this feature, the Archiver buffers the audio packet before sending it to the unit's audio decoder, eliminating any jittering that may occur. For more information on enabling this feature, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Basler BIP2 unit integration improvementsBasler BIP2 units have been integrated to the Basler Driver under the Generic Plus extension. As a result of these enhancements, you can now specify the stream usage, adjust the frame rate, and configure the input/output pins for Basler BIP2 units in Omnicast. Hardware motion detection is also supported.

Additional configuration is required on the unit’s Web page before adding the unit in Omnicast. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Bosch firmware enhancementsBosch firmware 5.5 is now supported in Omnicast.





Panasonic 3 megapixel camera supportPanasonic 3 megapixel cameras are now supported in Omnicast, which can stream at a resolution of 3 Megapixels in H.264. To enable an image quality of 3 Megapixels, the 3 Megapixel mode must be configured on the unit’s Web page. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Sony edge recording and tricklingSony cameras with firmware 1.61 and later now support video trickling in Omnicast through the Sony Edge storage feature. For more information about configuring this feature, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Verint firmware enhancements• Firmware 2.2.5.284.100729 is now supported with Verint S1801 and S1802 encoders in

Omnicast. • Firmware 2.2.5.273.99788 is now supported with Verint S1808 and S1816 encorders in

Omnicast.

New supported hardware in Omnicast 4.8 SR1 HIP1The following video units are now supported in Omnicast 4.8 SR1 Hardware Integration Package 1. For each unit model, the Archiver extension and certification level is listed.

There are three levels of integration certification:

• Certified. The Omnicast integration with this device model has been tested and vali-dated by Genetec.

• Supported by design. The device model shares the same API as an existing certified device unit, but has not been tested or validated by Genetec.

Omnicast 4.8 SR1 introduces the following new features and enhancements.

General enhancements• H.264 CABAC streaming. Software motion detection is now supported using H.264

CABAC streaming.• H.264 motion detection enhancements. H.264 video streaming has been enhanced

(for example, H.264 streams now support main and high video profiles, interlaced video, lossless video, and 8x8/4x4 block-size transform coding). To take advantage of these enhancements, you need to reconfigure the advanced motion detection settings for H.264 units already on your system if you are upgrading to Omnicast 4.8 SR1. For more information about how to configure the advanced motion detection settings, see “Advanced H.264 Motion Detection” in the Omnicast Administrator Guide.

Arecont enhancements• New exposure settings. There are new exposure settings available for Arecont cameras

in the Config Tool: Sharpness, exposure reference, illumination mode, blue, red, day/night settings, and low light modes.

• Flicker control. The flicker control option is now supported for Arecont units, which prevents flicker caused by lightning power line frequency.

• Image rotation. Arecont camera orientation can now be changed in Config Tool.For more information about configuring these Arecont unit and camera settings, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Axis enhancements• Profile selection. Axis H.264 cameras now support main and baseline profile selection.

• Edge storage 2.0 support. The edge storage 2.0 feature is now supported on Axis units with firmware 5.40.4 and later.

• Video quality and resolution enhancements. In Video Quality tab of the Config Tool, the default resolution for Axis H.264 cameras was changed to 2560x1920, and the default video quality was changed to 70%.

Bosch enhancements• Firmware 5.0 support. Bosch firmware 5.0 is now supported in Omnicast.• AAC audio support. The AAC audio format is now supported on Bosch units with

firmware 5.0 and later.• VRM version 2.2. Bosch VRM version 2.2 is now supported in Omnicast.• Maximum bit rate value increased. In the Video Quality tab of Config Tool, the maxi-

mum bit rate slider value for Bosch cameras was changed to 10, 000 kbps.

Canon VB-C60 and VB-C500D supportCanon VB-C60 and VB-C500D units are now supported in Omnicast. Additional configuration is required to use these units in Omnicast, and to control the PTZ of VB-C60 units. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Interlogix VisioWave driver supportThe Interlogix VisioWave driver, which can control multiple Interlogix VisioWave encoders, is now supported in Omnicast. VisioWave encoders support PTZ controls and the Wavelet video format in Omnicast. This integration also enables support for multiple PTZ motors in the Generic Plus extension. For more information about configuring Interlogix units controlled by the VisioWave driver, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Panasonic auto-pan featurePanasonic WV-SW395 (DG-SW395) and WV-SW396 (DG-SW396) units now support the auto-pan feature in the Live Viewer and Archive Player. For information about configuring this feature, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Sanyo motion detectionSanyo units now support software motion detection in Omnicast.

Resolved issues in Omnicast 4.8 SR1

The following video unit hardware issues were resolved in Omnicast 4.8 SR1. This list is categorized by manufacturer and/or extension.

Issue Manufacturer Description

28938 Bosch Autodome 300 H.264, VIP X1 XF: When the video unit is streaming in H.264 at its highest resolution (4CIF) and frame rate (30 fps), key frame-related functions (such as still alarms, high-speed playback, and key frame recording) do not work.


60872 Panasonic DG-SF334, DG-SW395: You cannot stream video at 12 frames per second in H.264 or MPEG-4.

52039 Sony SNC-EP520, SNC-EP580, SNC-ER520, SNC-ER580: MJPEG video streams may become corrupted if the Image quality is set to a high value in Config Tool. As a workaround, decrease the Image quality value.

45984 Vivotek (ONVIF)

VS8102: When viewing live video in the Config Tool, there may be a slight delay before the video starts.


IP8362: Motion events in H.264 are not detected.


Vivotek units use a non-standard rtp implementation. Because of this, archived video plays back three times as fast, and still and playback alarms are not supported.

64572 All When viewing playback video with audio from G64 files in the Archive Player, the video and audio may not be synchronized.

45334 ACTi ACM1100: Setting the Hue option in the camera’s Attributes tab in Config Tool has no effect on the unit.

45715 Checkpoint Checkpoint Clarity PTZ: The PTZ commands may continue to work after you release your mouse button or keyboard keys.

51020 IQinVision IQA32N: Hardware unit motion detection events are triggered anywhere in the video image, not just inside the created zones.

51169 IQinVision IQ832N and IQA3xN units: Input pins do not work.

45638 JVC On JVC VN-685U units, a PTZ preset cannot be saved when using the unit's digital zoom.

45840 OTN MVIDIPv4: Modifications to the video attributes and video quality parameters have no visible effect on the video stream.

45841 OTN MVIDIPv4: When video streams are started/stopped, a signal recovered/lost message is sent to the event stream.

46073 Samsung (ONVIF)

SPE-400: When changing the video stream configuration, such as the resolution, or switching between MPEG-4 and MJPEG streams, the stream becomes unstable.


SNB-5000, SND-5080, SNV-5010, SNV-5080: To use MPEG-4 streaming at 1 fps, the key frame interval must be set to 1 in the Config Tool.

1396 ACTi ACTi CAM65xx/66xx: Some Pelco D and Pelco P commands are not working (ex. Menu, Flip and Record Patterns).

24665 ACTi Unit motion detection is too sensitive when using small detection zones.

29414 ACTi ACM-1511, ACM-3511: Software motion detection is not supported on the highest resolutions (1280x1024) in MPEG-4.

24678 American Dynamics

MPEG-4 streaming over HTTP is not supported for the IP MiniDome and the IP Box Camera.

24687 Arecont Multicast is not supported for MJPEG and H.264 streams. As a workaround, use multicast by Archiver.

24688 Arecont When using an H.264 stream: Keyframe interval compression settings are not supported. They are set by the unit.

29423 Arecont The Arecont cropped field of view sizes are limited.• The size of the cropped field of view must be at least 128x128 in full

resolution, or 64x64 in half resolution.• The top-left pixel and the down-right pixel of the cropped field of view

must be divisible by 16.

37181 Arecont Arecont units have larger motion detection grids than the ones used in Omnicast. As a result, the motion detection zones configured in Omnicast will be larger on the unit.

37182 Arecont Arecont units do not automatically send motion events, so Omnicast must explicitly request the event stream every second. The information returned only describes if there is currently motion; therefore, motion that occurred between two requests will not be detected, and no motion event will be generated.

29515 ATEME Creating a password for a camera when adding it to the Archiver in the Config Tool will cause connection issues when requesting a stream. As a workaround, do no enter a password.

29418 ATEME Software motion detection is not supported on ATEME units.

18639 Axis 241Q, 241QA: 30 fps is not maintained when using MPEG-4 streaming at a resolution other than CIF, and performing unit motion detection at the same time.




Limitations

18648 Axis When streaming both MJPEG and MPEG-4 on the AXIS 241Q, the MPEG-4 stops streaming. It is recommended to use either the MJPEG or MPEG-4 encoder, but not both at the same time.

20588 Axis When viewing an H.264 stream that has a resolution of 1920x1080 on an Axis Q1755-E unit, your video may periodically freeze.

24734 Axis The connection type between the Archiver and Axis H.264 cameras with firmware prior to version 5.20 is limited to unicast.

24735 Axis Rotated video streams are not rotated in Motion Detection setup.

20481 Bosch Bosch 1600XFMD: When using an H.264 stream, still-frame alarms cannot be viewed on an analog monitor.

27925 Bosch VIP X1 XF encoder: When streaming H.264 4-CIF video, interlacing occurs. As a workaround, in the Live Viewer or Config Tool, click Tools > Options > Display, and enable the De-interlacing filter.

29425 Bosch Bosch HD units have some stream dependencies. For example, video stream 2 is dependent on the configuration of stream 1. For more information, refer to the manufacturer’s documentation.

56661 Bosch Flexidome NDN-498-P: Switching between video data formats in MJPEG does not change the resolution.

57783 Bosch In the Archive Player, you cannot query a video sequence if the camera is password-protected.

60090 Bosch If the Connection type between Unit and Archiver option is set to Best available in the Analog monitor’s Network tab, the video may freeze during a camera sequence transition. Also, the camera sequences may not resume if they have been paused for more than 15 seconds.Workaround: From the Connection type between Unit and Archiver drop-down list in the Analog monitor Network tab, select Unicast UDP.

69335 Bosch X20XF-E, X40XF-E, X1600-XFM4: The Bit rate setting in the camera’s Video Quality tab in Omnicast has no effect on the unit.Workaround: Use the Maximum bit rate setting to configure the bit rate.

55145 Canon (ONVIF) VB-M40, VB-M600VE, VB-M700F: If you change the H.264 video stream settings, the camera restarts.

25018 Comtex When compression settings are changed, the stream must be restarted. You may also need to remove the unit and add it to the Archiver again.

24790 DigiSensory AVista-100: Cannot use RTSP streaming as this unit supports multicast streaming only.

17628 Hikvision When using the qcif video data format for an MPEG-4 or H.264 stream on a DS-2CD892 unit, you may see a band of garbage video at the bottom of your footage.

17881 Hikvision When using the DS-2CD852MF-E unit, the resolution you see does not match the resolution that was set.

14074 JVC When setting the brightness value to a very low value (for example, -80, -100), the video stream brightness will fluctuate between completely black to normal clear.

14105 JVC JVC: Export to ASF changes the resolution to 320x240.

24898 JVC You cannot set the HTTP port and IP address settings at the same time.

24900 JVC MJPEG multicast streaming is not supported. The Archiver is capable of redirecting the unicast stream in multicast.

24901 JVC Software Motion Detection is only supported for MJPEG streams.

24903 JVC The JVC Megapixel camera MJPEG and MPEG–4 video stream settings are incompatible when one stream is set to 640x480 and the other to 320x240. For example, if the MJPEG video stream is set to 640x480 and the MPEG–4 video stream is set to 320x240, then an “Invalid configuration in unit” event notification is sent.

14770 Mango DSP When using an MPEG-4 stream on a Condor or Raven unit, no video is streamed if you specify a very high bit rate in conjunction with a very low frame rate. To avoid this problem, use a bit rate of 2058 kbps or lower if your frame rate is 15 fps or lower.

14776 Mango DSP The Raven M unit may drop frames if you increase the video quality beyond 94 when streaming multiple MJPEG streams with a 4 cif format and a frame rate of 30 fps.

14787 Mango DSP Mango units have a default port of 80 and this port cannot be configured.

14938 Mango DSP Input pins are not supported on Mango DSP Raven units.

15140 Mango DSP Condor units have a delay of ten to fourteen seconds before sending the “Input Pin closing” event.

16095 Mango DSP If mango units are added to more than 2 archivers, some input pin events will be lost. To support the input pins events on 2 archivers, a special configuration needs to me made on the 2nd Archiver.

16384 Mango DSP When changing video attributes such a brightness or hue, your video may freeze for a few seconds before the changes take effect.

20487 Mango DSP When working with an MJPEG stream at 30 fps, your video may freeze, contain blocks, or appear choppy. As a workaround, set the Image quality to seventy-five percent or lower using the Video quality tab of the Config Tool.

25024 Mango DSP Software motion detection in MPEG-4 is not supported.

25028 Mavix Mavix Media Racer: Motion detection is not supported.

26037 ONVIF Input pins are not supported with ONVIF compliant units.

6637 Panasonic Software motion detection for Panasonic H.264 and MPEG-4 units uses special metadata. Therefore, the sensitivity button cannot be configured in the Motion detection tab in Omnicast.

6653 Panasonic Motion detection stops working for ten seconds after controlling the PTZ.

8791 Panasonic Panasonic NT304: Four cameras will always appear in Omnicast when adding the unit, regardless of whether any have been disabled via the unit’s own Web page.

24987 Panasonic NT304, NT314, NP1000, and NP1004 units: MPEG–4 software motion detection is not supported.

24995 Panasonic If your video compression settings are refused by the camera, an Invalid configuration in unit event will be triggered in the Live Viewer.

25029 Panasonic If you change the aspect ratio or image mode using the unit’s Web Page. The unit must be restarted for Omnicast to retrieve the new settings.

20256 Panasonic When using a GXE500 encoder, the unit may momentarily go offline after adjusting the Boost quality settings. To avoid this, ensure that your Video quality and Boost quality settings do not exceed the unit’s capabilities.

40143 Panasonic GXE500: When configuring multiple MPEG-4 streams in Config Tool, the Quality settings of stream 2 overwrite the settings of stream 1.

41847 Panasonic WV-SW355: A frame rate of 30 fps in MPEG is not supported.

64217 Panasonic For some Panasonic units, the secondary video stream may be disabled depending on the image capture mode selected on the unit’s Web page.

66637 Panasonic WV-SW314, WV-SW316: If you set the aspect ratio to 16:9 on the unit’s Web page, MPEG-4 streaming is disabled for that unit in Omnicast.

2089 Pelco Pelco 9760 Matrix units can become unstable when using 0 as the input or output ID.

6295 Pelco NET5301T: Specific PTZ commands do not work.

15814 Pelco When using an OV Ready compliant unit, you may lose any rules you have created when you change the Video quality settings in the Config Tool.

17019 Pelco Software motion detection is limited for MPEG-4 units when the key frame interval is set to a high value.

21564 Pelco When using firmware later than version 1.3.7, output pins cannot be enabled on Sarix units.

22137 Pelco When working with NET5308T encoders, the unit always reports the maximum amount of output and input pins regardless of what is connected. Therefore, the number of outputs and inputs reflected in the Config Tool may not be correct.

22530 Pelco When using Sarix units, events are not received by the failover Archiver when the main Archiver and failover Archiver are not on the same subnet.

22851 Pelco When using low quality settings on a Pelco IP3701 unit, the video quality of the secondary stream degrades over time.

23049 Pelco Enabling motion detection on a unit may not always work. As a workaround, lower the video quality settings in the Config Tool and try again. Once the motion detection is enabled, you can adjust the video quality settings.

25040 Pelco When using dual streams on Sarix units, the unit resources are shared between the streams and the primary stream has priority over the secondary stream.

26775 Pelco When using dual video streams on IE30DN and IDE20DN units, the Video Quality setting only keeps the primary stream configuration. As a workaround, the primary stream must always have a higher Video Quality setting than the other streams.

26923 Pelco When using dual streams on Sarix units, the video settings of the second stream cannot be changed without first setting the primary stream video settings to the desired values.

29417 Promelit Software motion detection is not supported on Promelit units.

24892 SightLogix When using a SightSensor unit, any changes you make to the frame rate will not be automatically updated in a Live Viewer tile or in the Config Tool Live video window.

24893 SightLogix The SightTracker unit does not support motion detection.

16238 Sony Your video stream may freeze for one second when motion on recording is triggered on the first channel of an EX104 encoder.





Limitations

24834 Sony Edge analytics is supported on the following Sony units:• Sony 2nd Generation units only support unit motion detection in

MPEG–4. • Sony 3rd Generation units support built-in Unattended Object Motion and

Moving Object Detection. • Sony 4th Generation units support built-in Moving Object detection only.• Sony 5th Generation supports VMF object search, which appear as “Video

53271 Sony Sony unit resolutions 1600x1200 and 1920x1440 are not supported in Omnicast.

25046 Toshiba Software motion detection is not supported for MPEG-4 streams.

25047 Toshiba M-JPEG streams are not supported in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

18642 Verint The hue settings do not work correctly for PAL cameras.
