What’s new in Omnicast 4.8 SR7


Omnicast 4.8 SR7 introduces the following new features and enhancements.

This section includes the following topics:

General enhancements• Genetec Protocol supports more encoders and decoders. The Genetec Protocol now

supports adding up to a maximum of 288 encoders or 272 decoders to a single unit onyour Omnicast system. Previously you could only add 31 encoders or 16 decoders.Please note that these are the maximum values for a single unit, and that the totalamount of devices you can add to your system depend on the capacity of your serverand how it is configured. For more information about system requirements, see theOmnicast System Requirements document, available at: http://www.genetec.com/Doc-uments/EN/Products/EN-Genetec-Omnicast-System-Requirements.pdf.

• Archive Player. Now when you choose to backup the Archiver, or copy a stand-alone Archive Player with your exported video sequences, the Portable Archive Player is copied instead of the web based Stand-Alone Archive Player.

Arecont enhancements• Arecont remote focus and zoom. Omnicast now supports Arecont remote focus and

zoom. This feature is available for certain Arecont models and allows the operator tomake focus and zoom adjustments remotely from a computer rather than having tophysically adjust the camera on-site. Remote focus and zoom is automatically detectedby Omnicast, and available as a series of commands in the Live viewer when you right-click in the camera’s viewing tile. The following commands are available: Increment zoom Decrement zoom Reset zoom Increment focus Decrement focus Set focus to full range Set focus to shortrange

• Multicast support. Multicast is now officially supported for more Arecont models. For the complete list, see the Supported Devices List, at: http://www.genetec.com/solutions/resources/supported-devices-list.

Axis enhancements• Support for temperature events. Omnicast now supports receiving temperature

events for Axis units that support temperature alarms. • Auto rotate image support. In Config Tool, there is a now an Auto setting available in

the Image rotation settings of the Specific settings tab for Axis units that support this feature. Please note that if the camera has been configured to use Auto image rotation in Config Tool, and the orientation of the unit changes (turned sideways or upside down) you must restart the unit.

Panasonic enhancementsOmnicast now supports i-VMD alarms for Panasonic cameras that have i-VMD software installed. Some additional configuration is required on the units web page before an i-VMD alarm can be viewed in Omnicast. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Omnicast 4.8 SR6 Release Notes


Omnicast 4.8 SR6 is a service release that improves the performance and quality of Omnicast. This document describes the release in detail, and provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the Genetec Omnicast documentation.


Omnicast 4.8 SR6 introduces the following new features and enhancements.


• "Bosch enhancements" on page 5• "Pelco Sarix output pin enabled" on page 5• "Pelco Sarix video attributes enabled" on page 5• "Sony video expected VBR" on page 5

Bosch enhancementsOmnicast now supports controlling PTZ cameras over a coaxial cable for Bosch units. An option called Enable Coaxial PTZ is available in Config Tool on the Hardware tab of units that support this feature.

Pelco Sarix output pin enabledThis feature enables output pin support for the Pelco Sarix camera. Only available from FW 1.7.2

Pelco Sarix video attributes enabledThis feature enables video attributes support for the Pelco Sarix camera.

Brightness, Saturation and Contrast are only available from FW 1.8.2 and higher whereas Hue attribute is only available from FW 2.0.0 and higher (targeting Pro and Enhance Sarix).

Sony video expected VBRThis is a new camera setting to specify the upper limit target bitrate.




The following issues were resolved for Omnicast 4.8 SR6.


167615 Acti After upgrading to 4.8, cannot change PTZ protocol and PTZ address on Acti cameras.

145380 All Omnicast 4.8 SR4 Archive Player: When connected to an Omnicast Directory, the Export button is greyed out for local files.

150736 All Cannot access Brightness, Hue, VideoStandard, Contrast, and Saturation properties.

156221 All Cannot launch a camera sequence using a Keyboard via its logical ID.

158567 All Genetec Protocol AAC CODEC: AAC without ADTS headers not supported.

171946 All During synchronous playback, audio cuts out.

ACTi enhancements• ACTi PTZ HTTP-API. This API is now available in Omnicast, which adds support for

focus, auto-focus, and zoom PTZ controls for the ACTi KCM series in Omnicast.For information about using the auto-focus feature, see the Omnicast Video Unit Con-figuration Guide.NOTE KCM-3911 units support the pan and tilt PTZ controls but not focus and auto focus. Some additional configuration is required for PTZ controls to work with KCM-3911 units.

Arecont enhancements • I/O support. Input and output pins are supported for Arecont cameras in Omnicast.

• Audio support. External microphone audio input is now supported for Arecont cameras in Omnicast.

Samsung enhancements

The following features are now supported for the SPE-101 encoder in Omnicast:

• Pan/Tilt/Zoom



• PTZ presets• Patterns• Wiper control• Focus control• OSD Menu

Sony enhancements• XDNR support. The XDNR (eXcellent Dynamic Noise Reduction) feature is now

supported for sixth generation units in Omnicast. In Config Tool, a new Noise reduction option is available on the Specific settings tab for cameras that support this feature.

Windows 8 support

Omnicast now supports Windows 8.0 and 8.1 for use with both client and server applications. Previously only client applications supported Windows 8.

80068 All In the Live Viewer, Archiver streams in multicast instead of unicast after a unit is lost or the Archiver restarts.

117407 All Performing an entity search may cause the Directory to fail.

117731 All SDK: Live viewer crashes when switching between layouts that contain cameras that have overlay activated.

120687 All Genetec extension: Software motion detection and motion search only work for MJPEG streams.

122447 All Live Viewer disconnects when there is a time synchronization.

124032 All Live Viewer is leaking memory.

127656 Axis Axis P7701: If you configure the Video output and TV system settings on the unit’s Web page to use VGA and DVI with VGA 60Hz, when you add the unit in Omnicast the Archiver overwrites the settings to use NTSC.

127794 Axis 233D PTZ: After upgrading to 4.8 SR4, Auto-focus and Auto iris are no longer available in the Specific Commands list.




130433 Axis Two separate camera entities are connecting to the same camera/IP address.

132468 Axis Axis M7014: Can only configure one H.264 stream and one MJPEG stream.

139136 Axis Axis P1343: On a system configured for failover, when the output pin is changed to On or Off in Config Tool, the unit loses its connection to the primary Archiver and connects to the standby Archiver.

129736 Canon When using the Half-duplex (push-to-talk) audio mode, the start of an audio transmission may be cut off.

• HTTPS support. For added security, Omnicast now supports Hypertext Transfer Pro-tocol Secure (HTTPS) for Panasonic units. fig Tool on the Specific settings tab for units that support it. Constant bit rate. There is now a Constant bit rate option in the Config Tool Video

H.264 Profile selection. A new Profile drop-down menu is available in the Config Tool Video Quality tab for sixth generation units that support multiple H.264 pro-files. You can choose between Baseline, Main, and High.

Video Trickling enhancements

The Video Trickling feature has been enhanced by the following:

• More information in the Archiver logs. The Archiver logs now include more infor-mation and the messages have been standardized.

Pelco DMR hardware matrix protocol

Failover archiving when database connection is lost

You can now choose to trigger a failover when the connection to the Archiver database is lost. Remote focus and zoom is automatically detected by Omnicast, and available as a series of commands in the Live Viewer when you right-click in the camera’s viewing tile. • Edge recording and trickling. Omnicast now supports edge recording and trickling for WV-SW155 cameras that have the latest firmware installed.



SSL support for the Active Directory

There is a new Enable SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) option available on the Active Directory tab in Server Admin. When this option is enabled, all communications between Omnicast and the Active Directory domain controller use the SSL protocol, which makes is difficult for third parties to see any information that is exchanged. This option is disabled by default, and the Active Directory domain controller must be configured to support SSL. For more information see “Enabling SSL” in the Omnicast Administrator Guide.

Video Trickling enhancements

The Video Trickling feature has been enhanced by the following:

• More details in the Archiver logs. The Archiver logs now include more information for troubleshooting purposes.

• Refresh button on the Video Trickling tab. Click this button to update information about the trickling process for cameras in the Camera list. An audio out anti-jitter butter is implemented for Axis, Sony, and Verint extensions in Omnicast. With this feature, the Archiver buffers the audio packet before sending it to the unit's audio decoder, eliminating any jittering that may occur. Basler BIP2 unit integration improvements

Basler BIP2 units have been integrated to the Basler Driver under the Generic Plus extension. As a result of these enhancements, you can now specify the stream usage, adjust the frame rate, and configure the input/output pins for Basler BIP2 units in Omnicast. Hardware motion detection is also supported.

Canon VB-C60 and VB-C500D support

Canon VB-C60 and VB-C500D units are now supported in Omnicast. Additional configuration is required to use these units in Omnicast, and to control the PTZ of VB-C60 units. For more information, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Interlogix VisioWave driver support

The Interlogix VisioWave driver, which can control multiple Interlogix VisioWave encoders, is now supported in Omnicast. VisioWave encoders support PTZ controls and the Wavelet video format in Omnicast. This integration also enables support for multiple PTZ motors in the Generic Plus extension. For more information about configuring Interlogix units controlled by the VisioWave driver, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Panasonic auto-pan feature

Panasonic WV-SW395 (DG-SW395) and WV-SW396 (DG-SW396) units now support the auto-pan feature in the Live Viewer and Archive Player. For information about configuring this feature, see the Omnicast Video Unit Configuration Guide.

Sanyo motion detection

Sanyo units now support software motion detection in Omnicast.





Resolved issues in Omnicast 4.8 SR1The following video unit hardware issues were resolved in Omnicast 4.8 SR1. This list is categorized by manufacturer and/or extension.


60872 Panasonic DG-SF334, DG-SW395: You cannot stream video at 12 frames per second in H.264 or MPEG-4.

45886 Sanyo (ONVIF) When the multicast UDP connection is selected, units do not stream audio to the correct multicast IP and port.

45896 Sanyo (ONVIF) Sanyo (ONVIF) Running the GetAudioSources command does not return a list of audio sources. As a result, audio is not supported in Omnicast.

45889 Sanyo (ONVIF) Sanyo (ONVIF) VCC-HD4600, VCC-HD5400: The frame rate is inconsistent when playing a 30fps H.264 recording in the Archive Player.

52039 Sony SNC-EP520, SNC-EP580, SNC-ER520, SNC-ER580: MJPEG video streams may become corrupted if the Image quality is set to a high value in Config Tool. As a workaround, decrease the Image quality value.

45984 Vivotek (ONVIF)

VS8102: When viewing live video in the Config Tool, there may be a slight delay before the video starts.


IP8362: Motion events in H.264 are not detected.


Vivotek units use a non-standard rtp implementation. Because of this, archived video plays back three times as fast, and still and playback alarms are not supported.

45334 ACTi ACM1100: Setting the Hue option in the camera’s Attributes tab in Config Tool has no effect on the unit.

45681 ACTi ACTi units may reboot when you change the resolution.

51548 ACTi Supported frame rates for ACTi units depend on the unit capabilities and settings. As a result, ACTi units might not follow the requested frame rate if the value set in Omnicast is not supported by the unit using its current settings.

152996 ACTi KCM-7211: When viewing the camera in a tile, the Auto-focus specific command does not work.Workaround: After sending the Auto-focus command, click the +/- zoom to start Autofocus.

SD: When viewing live video that uses a high resolution, there is a delay and the video is not smooth.

152953 Arecont AV12186DN: Selecting the Wide Dynamic Range option on the Hardware tab of the unit has no effect.

152981 Axis Axis Q7436: When using an H.264 custom format, frame rates higher than 30 fps are not respected and the keyframe interval may not be correct either.

209772 Bosch Bosch VJD 7000: Camera streams fail at random while being viewed in the Live Viewer.

55160 Canon (ONVIF) VB-M40, VB-M600VE, VB-M700F: You cannot watch H.264 video in multicast. Workaround: Select Unicast, RTSP over TCP, or RTSP over HTTP, view the camera in the Live Viewer, and then change the network connection type to Multicast.

55427 Canon (ONVIF) VB-M40: You cannot view four VB-M40 MJPEG streams in multicast simultaneously.

51020 IQinVision IQA32N: Hardware unit motion detection events are triggered anywhere in the video image, not just inside the created zones.

51169 IQinVision IQ832N and IQA3xN units: Input pins do not work.

152975 ISD JBS-AF-1080P: Changing the IP address, Subnet, or Gateway does not work.

152979 ISD JBS-AF-1080P: Some of the supported resolutions listed on the unit’s Web page are not available in Security Center.

152987 ISD JBS-AF-1080P: Cannot stream two multicast channels simultaneously in SD.

152990 ISD JBS-AF-1080p: Playback of a G64 file will freeze when using a speed of 6x or higher.

IP8161: You cannot add IP8161 units using a username and password. As a workaround, disable the authentication from the unit’s Web page.


IP8161, VS8102: The Subnet mask displayed in the Config Tool is not valid.


IP8161, VS8102: Changing the state of output pins (open/close) has no effect.


IP8161: Only 176x144 resolutions are supported on IP8161 units. Changing the resolution has no effect.

49289 All On the Archiving tab of Server Admin, the Archiving network storage folder may cause errors if it contains a subfolder. For example: \\server\\share\\subfolder\\VideoArchives. The Disk field has to point to root shared folder (server\\share).Workaround: When you add a network location for archive storage, add the root share folder (\\server\\share) and then enter the subfolder path (sub-folder\VideoArchives) in the Disk base path field.

76956 All If you fast forward while playing back archived video that contains audio, the timeline may freeze.Workaround: Disable the audio to fast forward during playback.

92592 All In a dual display setup, the Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons do not work correctly on the extended display for client applications (Live Viewer, Config Tool, and Archive Player).Workaround: Set your Windows theme to “Windows Classic” using the Per-sonalization tab of the Windows Control Panel.

95642 All For units that support HTTPS, the default HTTPS port number in Omnicast is 443, it cannot be changed.

114605 All The Omnicast Web client is not compatible with Internet Explorer 10 or 11.Workaround: Add the Web client server’s IP address to the Compatibility View list in Internet Explorer.

Limitations

124445 All Nodes dedicated to failover in a clustered setup don’t work properly after a failover occurs. Workaround: You need to move the Omnicast network adapter to the top of the network card list on all machines replicated in the cluster.

1 Open a command line and type: ipconfig/all.2 Find the Omnicast network card, and take note of the name of the card. 3 Install the Microsoft nvspbind package. You can find the package here:

139522 All Directory failover: The Directory Failover Coordinator supports a maximum of 1000 cameras with 10,000 configured entities.

143988 All Connection and video fails when using the Direct Show Filter with an Omnicast user that has '@' signs in the user password.Workaround: Don't use the '@' sign in the password

73221 ACTi ACM and TCM models: Motion off threshold is not supported. Therefore, changing the Motion off threshold setting in the Motion Detection tab of the Config tool will have no effect.

71997 ACTi KCM and TCM models: These units do not support using a multicast IP address outside the range of 224.5.0.1 to 239.255.255.255.


Illustra series: Changing the Video data format restarts both video streams and there is a 35 second delay before streaming resumes in Live Viewer. As a result, Boost quality is not supported, and Video quality settings on a Generic schedule are affected.

152954 Arecont Arecont AV12186DN: After enrolling the unit in Security Center, two of the video streams are displayed upside down in SD.

45736 Axis When using a P7701 decoder, any changes you make to the Video quality settings in the Config Tool will not be reflected on your viewing monitor.

45757 Axis P7701: The decoder may not use the compression format that was specified in the Config tool for the connection to the Archiver.

74719 Axis Q7424-R: When the unit is added to a failover Archiver, the PTZ controls do not respond.Workaround: In Config Tool Physical View, select the serial port to config-ure. Click the Properties tab and in the Mode drop-down list, switch the video mode to RS-485-2 wire, then click Apply.

73259 Axis When the unit’s microphone uses the AAC audio format, the audio is not in sync with the video in the Live Viewer.Workaround: In Config Tool Physical View, select the microphone for the unit. Click the Properties tab and in the Data format drop-down list, select Mulaw.

94808 Axis When streaming video at high resolutions, the video may freeze or you may see artifacts when there is fast movement in front of the camera. This also may happen when controlling the PTZ.

152946 Axis Windows 7 and later: Axis 292 units cannot be added to the Archiver.

152947 Axis M3007-P/PV: Streaming at more than 12 frames per second is not supported. It is also recommended to use only two streams at a time, and to disable unit motion detection for streams that aren’t using it.

56661 Bosch Flexidome NDN-498-P: Switching between video data formats in MJPEG does not change the resolution.

57783 Bosch In the Archive Player, you cannot query a video sequence if the camera is password-protected.

60090 Bosch If the Connection type between Unit and Archiver option is set to Best available in the Analog monitor’s Network tab, the video may freeze during a camera sequence transition. Also, the camera sequences may not resume if they have been paused for more than 15 seconds.Workaround: From the Connection type between Unit and Archiver drop-down list in the Analog monitor Network tab, select Unicast UDP.

72403 Bosch Bosch VJT-X40XF-E: The keyframe interval of your recorded video may not match the keyframe interval that was specified in the Video Quality tab.

84159 Bosch Bosch Autodome 800 HD: The frame rate of an MJPEG stream may not match what was set in Omnicast.

96968 Bosch Bosch VJT-XTCXF: In order to match the frame rate set in Omnicast, the frame rate of a stream must be at 30 fps before being transcoded. If the original stream is not at 30 fps, the transcoded frame rate can be determined using the following calculation: (Original stream frame rate) x (Frame rate selected in Omnicast) /30=frame rate.

97513 Bosch Bosch VJT-XTCXF: Only two streams can be transcoded simultaneously. To avoid having issues, ensure the following:• The unit’s playback Web page is not open.• The transcoder is connected to a single Archiver.• The archiving schedule of the encoder is set to “Disabled” if you don’t

want to record a stream.• Only two streams are being recorded in Omnicast.

97516 Bosch When you swap a camera connected to the transcoder, video for the previous camera will be displayed until you restart the stream. You can restart the stream by doing one of the following:• Change a Video Quality setting (Bit rate, Frame rate, and so on) in Omni-

cast and “Apply” the changes. • Stop recording from the camera and close and reopen all live video win-

dows for that stream.• Restart the transcoder.

94768 Bosch Dinion NWC-0495: Input alarm events are not reported in the Live Viewer.Workaround: On the unit’s Web page, select Alarm Settings > Alarm in. From the Active drop-down menu, select High for the alarm to be triggered by closing the contact, or Low for the alarm to be triggered by opening the contact.

95159 Bosch VIP X1600, NWC-0455: In Config Tool on the Video Quality tab, the H.264 All lines option from the Video data format drop-down menu produces a “Half D1” resolution. For example, 352x480 instead of 704x480.

152948 Bosch Bosch Region of interest (ROI): Unit motion detection applies to entire zone captured by the camera instead of within the ROI area.Workaround:

• Use software motion detection.• Use the first stream to create the motion detection zone.

170555 Bosch BoschVJT-XDXF: When using a multicast connection, you can only view one stream properly in Quad view.Workaround: Ensure that all streams displayed on the encoder use a different multicast port, or use UDP as the connection type.

193697 Bosch Autodome 7000 HD/Junior HD 800: Absolute zoom does not work correctly.

202230 Bosch When configuring the discovery port for a unit or extension, port 1900 is not supported.Workaround: Use a Telnet session to reconfigure the discovery port.

55145 Canon (ONVIF) VB-M40, VB-M600VE, VB-M700F: If you change the H.264 video stream settings, the camera restarts.

94554 Canon VB-H41: When performing software motion detection, red motion blocks may randomly appear when you are streaming MJPEG video at a high resolution with high image quality.Workaround: In Config Tool, on the Video quality tab of the camera, reduce the image quality or lower the resolution.

84019 FLIR D-348: H.264 streams are not de-interlaced in the Live Viewer.

45322 Interlogix Interlogix SymDec16, SymSafe and SymSafe Pro: Unit motion detection is very sensitive.

45323 Interlogix After changing SymNet from encoder to decoder (or vice-versa), it will need to be rediscovered by all Archivers in a failover setup.

45376 Interlogix Input pin events are not triggered on SymDec16, SymSafe and SymSafe Pro units

72716 Panasonic WV-SP5x: Using Config Tool to change the resolution of a cropped stream has no effect.Workaround: Use the unit’s Web page to change the resolution.



Limitations

80817 Panasonic Unit motion detection: You cannot configure Motion detection settings in Omnicast and on the unit's Web page simultaneously. The unit will go offline.

80819 Panasonic When performing unit motion detection, configuring the Motion off threshold setting has no effect.

80854 Panasonic When performing software motion detection, configuring the Sensitivity setting has no effect.

82019 Panasonic Unit motion detection: Even though multiple motion detection zones may be configured on the unit, only motion events for Zone 1 are displayed in the Live Viewer.

82874 Panasonic Panasonic units do not support the MJPEG format for video trickling.

77055 Pelco Sarix Spectra HD: In order for PTZ patterns to work correctly, a tour must be created using the unit’s Web page and use the “Endura X” naming convention (where X represents a value). That tour will then be represented within Omnicast as a preset. For example, if you name your tour “Endura 3” the tour will be available as “preset 3” in Omnicast.

152962 Samsung SND-5084: When enabling cropping using the unit’s Web page, if you select a higher cropping resolution in CT, the unit will go offline.

46076 Samsung(ONVIF)

SNB-5000, SND-5080, SNV-5010, SNV-5080: To use MPEG-4 streaming at 1fps, the key frame interval must be set to 1 in the Config Tool.

97556 Sanyo VDC-DP7584: The aspect ratio is not correct for streams that have a resolution of 720x240.

58332 Siqura C-60E: The Motion on threshold setting in Omnicast is not supported on the unit. Therefore, you may receive motion on events from values that differ from the motion blocks you specified.

78411 Sony SNC-260: When streaming MPEG-4 video using the RTSP protocol and a Unicast UDP connection, your video may freeze for a few seconds if you change the Video data format.

96518 Sony Sony 5th Generation and lower: Camera settings are lost after performing a firmware upgrade.

96519 Sony Sony 5th and 6th Generation: When performing hardware motion detection with multiple zones, the Motion on threshold setting for the first zone is used for all zones.

96525 Sony Sony 5th Generation: For certain units, only one codec can be on for motion detection to work, the others must be turned off.

152949 Sony Sony 6th generation: Trickling status may report that no video exists on the camera for the filters specified, when it actually does.



Limitations

152950 Sony Sony: Changing codecs on a 6th generation camera while it is actively streaming causes an error and transmission is lost.Workaround: Stop all streams and then configure the codecs.

77680 Verint H.264 decoders: Still alarms are not supported.

70726 VideoIQ If you boost the video quality, or modify the video stream (for example, change the frame rate) from the camera’s Video Quality tab in Config Tool, you may lose the video stream connection for 30 seconds.

176052 Bosch NDC-274-PT: MJPEG stream resolution of 1920x1080, actually produces resolution of 1712x960.

176054 Panasonic Some networks require increasing the Mic Input Interval to higher values such as 80ms or 160ms. This effect is only for Unicast TCP.Workaround: Use Mic in and set the Mic input interval to 160 ms.

148033 Sony Omnicast live stream audio has audio distortion. This problem does not occur in recorded sequence and only happens when audio is set to AAC format bandwidth 16 Khz sampling rate. Also, when Line has an odd sensitivity value such as 61 and then the audio stops and starts.Workaround: Select Mulaw or aac 48 Khz.

150734 Verint Some features based on keyframe detection do not work properly. For example, alarms, high speed playback, and camera switching. Since the device does not support control of the keyframe interval this issue does not have a workaround.

176050 Panasonic WV-SFV631L: The resolution values for JPEG streams that are available in Config Tool are limited to the values that are set in the unit's web page.
