single OmniBus product can also simulate a control panel or other system components. OmniBus 717 modules have 4 receive and 4 transmit (4R/4T) channels that support both ARINC 717 and its predecessor, ARINC 573. High-speed capability is pro- vided for compatibility with future systems. Each channel is indepen- dently configurable for Har vard biphase or bipolar return-to-zero operation. Superframe support in- cludes user-configurable counter location and number of super- frames per frame. Applications for OmniBus prod- ucts include testing, simulation, and operational uses of avionics databuses. The high channel count, multi-channel capability, and on- board PowerPC processor provide the power necessar y for flight simulators and system integration laboratories. An OmniBus product may also be used as a data server or as a stand-alone converter from one protocol to another. Software The easiest way to use OmniBus 717 products in a Windows® envi- ronment is with the included 717 Monitor program. Users can ob- serve and record word, subframe, and superframe data in octal and binar y formats with just a few clicks of the mouse. The intuitive interface makes it easy to modify sync word values and play back re- corded data files. Alternatively, users can develop their own software using the in- cluded BTIDriver™ API. Although each OmniBus product can be eas- ily configured and run with only a few API calls, the comprehensive librar y includes a broad range of functions for specialized needs. An SDK is available for advanced users who are developing software to run on the PowerPC. 11400 Airport Road, Everett, WA 98204-8782 USA Tel: (800) 829-1553 (425) 339-0281 Fax: (425) 339-0915 E-mail: [email protected] Web: www.ballardtech.com OmniBus ® 717 ARINC 717 for OmniBus Family Products Features 4R/4T ARINC 717 channels per module Each channel individually con- figurable for biphase or bipolar Eight programmable speeds, from 64 to 8192 wps User-configurable sync words and superframes Combine with ARINC 429 chan- nels on the same module Monitor concurrently with transmit/receive operation IRIG time-tags/synchronization Event logging and interrupts Description Ballard’s OmniBus® products connect computers or networks to one or more avionics databuses.
