Dosage and Administration

One to two capsules daily. The average duration of treatment is 4-8 weeks

Pharmacodynamics• OMEGA is supplied as delayed-release capsules • Containing Omeprazole in enteric-coated

pallets• Disintegrate only in alkaline enviornment of

intestine• Suppresses the secretion of gastric acid by

irreversible inhibition of the enzyme system H+/K+ ATPase(Proton Pump) , of gastric parietal cells

Pharmacokinetics• Rapidly absorbed from intestines• Peak plasma level obtained within 0.5 to

3.5 hours• Protein binding is approx. 95%• Absolute bioavailability is 30-40%• Half life is 0.5-1hours• Eliminate through urine

Drug Interactions Metabolise by cytochrome P-450 enzyme system, may decrease the hepatic clearance of

• diazepam,• phenytoin • war farin

Contraindications • In patients hypersensitive to it.
