Conversation is an art that shouldn't be lost, especially in these times that people have become addicted to their cell phones or their computers. The art is conversation isn't totally lost, because the users of these electronic gadgets do have conversations, they even have them with people that they may not even know personally, and those people might live very far away. It's not uncommon that romances have been established in this manner. But nothing can replace the pleasure of speaking face to face. These kinds of conversations are so fulfilling that time seems to fly by, and when we're are forced to end them due to our other obligations, we are left with the desire of wanting just a little more time. What do friends talk about? Everything! And there are people whose conversations are so enjoyable that they are surrounded by enthusiastic listeners that serve them. As the friendship grows, the desire also grows to be together more time, and to communicate better. On the other hand, if people don't have time to talk, little by little the friendship begins to fade. Jesus spent many long hours talking with his Father in a solitary place in order that no one would interrupt them. He enjoyed his conversations, because it was an act of love. The apostles were so surprised of the intimate friendship between the Son and the Father, that they didn't stop asking Jesus to teach them to pray. Praying is talking with God. And Jesus taught them. He taught them this beautiful prayer that is named "The Our Father", in which we pray for our daily needs, and that we remain on the right path, free from evil. Also, Jesus teaches us to pray with perseverance in order to reach God and acquire what we are asking of Him., just like the widow that faced an unjust judge, and she was able to get justice through her insistence. We should always pray, but not just because we want something, and not out of obligation, but rather out of friendship, because we need to be be near those that we love and love us. Forcing one to pray is like forcing them to talk to someone that they don't like. If we love God our prayer would be more like a pleasant conversation that we don't want to end, and it will extend into our daily activities. Our whole lives would be a prayer! If we love God, we will unite with his other children, and talk together with our Father that brings us every Sunday to the reunion party of his Children with the Father, and all brothers and sisters gather together for the celebration that is our Sunday Mass. The one that doesn't have conversations with others, can't love, for he doesn't know his friend.

Platicar es un arte que no se puede perder. Incluso en estos tiempos en quela gente es adicta al celular y a la computadora, el arte de platicar como que se medio salva porque los usuarios de estos medios entablan conversaciones hasta con personas que ni siquiera conocen y que a lo mejor viven a grandes distancias. Nada raro que hasta se entablen romances por esos medios.

Pero nada supera el placer de platicar cara a cara. Es tan sabrosa esta plática que el tiempo se nos pasa volando y cuando por fin otras ocupaciones nos obligan a suspenderla, siempre se nos queda el deseo de “otro ratito”. ¿De qué platican los amigos?, ¡de todo!, y hay personas cuya conversación es tan agradable que siempre tienen a su lado escuchas entusiastas y embebidos que los atienden. En la medida en que crece la amistad, crece también el deseo de estar juntos más tiempo y de comunicarse mejor. En cambio, si no hay tiempo de platicar, poco a poco se va perdiendo la amistad. Jesús se pasaba largas horas platicando con su Padre en algún lugar solitario para que nadie los interrumpiera. Gozaba de su plática porque era un acto de amor filial. A los apóstoles les impresionaba esa amistad tan íntima entre el Hijo y el Padre y no cesaban de decirle a Jesús que los enseñara a orar. Orar es platicar con Dios. Y Jesús los enseña. Les enseña esa oración tan hermosa que se llama “Padre nuestro” en donde con toda sencillez alabamos a Dios, le pedimos la salvación, le pedimos por nuestras necesidades diarias y porque permanezcamos en el buen camino libres del maligno. Además Jesús nos enseña a orar con perseverancia para poder alcanzar de Dios aquellos que pedimos, como la viuda que recurre a un mal juez y logra que le haga justicia por su insistencia. Debemos, pues, orar siempre, pero no por interés ni por obligación, sino por amistad, porque necesitamos estar junto a aquel a quien amamos y que nos ama. Orar a fuerzas sería como si alguien nos obligara a platicar con alguien a quien no queremos. Si amamos a Dios nuestra oración será una plática amena que no desearemos terminar y que se prolongará a lo largo de nuestras actividades diarias. ¡Toda la vida será una oración! Si amamos a Dios, nos reuniremos con sus demás hijos para platicar juntos con ese Padre que nos convoca todos los domingos a esa fiesta de encuentro de los hijos con su Padre y de los hermanos entre sí, a esa fiesta que es nuestra misa dominical. El que no platica, no ama porque no conoce al amigo.

A LOVE STORY

It was September 2006 when Omar saw me in a picture that my cousin showed him. Immediately after he started to call me on the telephone. I talked to him thinking that nothing would happen since he was in the United States, and I was in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. In this manner there were many phone calls, and then in October, he said the o me, "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" And I said, "Yes!" (The truth is that I never thought that I would fall so much in love with him). In November 2006, he said to me, "Do you want to come meet me?" And I said, "Yes, of course!" My mother accompanied me. We arrived in Tijuana, Mexico, just the two of us, alone, without knowing much. A man asked us where we were going, and we told him we were going to Pico Rivera, California. He said, "I'll take you." Without even knowing him, we got into his car. I remember so well when I saw Omar from a far. And without knowing him, I said, "That's him!" I remember him standing on Washington Boulevard. He was wearing a tight, white shirt (He was very thin). I saw him from a far... I instantly fell in love... The truth is it was love at first sight, and I think it was mutual. Omar introduced me to his family. Everyone was happy, because they saw how happy Omar had been, with a huge smile. We went to dinner that night. I remember that a mariachi arrived at the restaurant y played the song, "If they Let Us, We Will Love Each Other Forever". It was then that Omar wrote on a piece of paper: "Do you want to marry me?" And I said, "Yes!!!!!!" My heart was beating a thousand miles a minute… I had to return to Los Mochis. We spoke on the telephone every day. We were very happy. On April 7, he asked me to come with my whole family. My father, mother, my sister, and I went. Omar surprised us and took us to Las Vegas. He wanted to give me my engagement ring. Because of lack of time, it didn't happen. When we returned to Pico Rivera, with his family present, he did it. I remember how he trembled in fear. We were both very happy. On October 7, he asked me to go live with him. We talked it over a lot. I discussed it with my parents, and they supported me, even though the tradition of the family was to leave home wearing white; but my parents supported me knowing what kind of person Omar was. I came for the first time in January 2008. We had many highs and lows. We had some difficulties in adjusting as a couple, but our love reigned. We bought our house in May 2009, and in February 2010 our Angel Omar was born, and he arrived to fill our home with blessings. In August 2015 our Mathew was born, and he came to seal even more love into our home. I remember that one time when we were going to Reno in the car, and Omar turned the mirror to look at me and said: "I am so proud to have my family!" We are very blessed. I love you, Gladys. Thank you for my children." Everyday he would say, "I love you." He lived for his children and me. His children were his pride and joy. I remember that night when the tragedy took place. In the morning he gave me a hug that I will never forget. He said, "I love you, Gladys." And that night, before he left for work, he came into our bedroom, he gave me a kiss, and he gave Mathew a tender hug. He left the house… I know my God was suffering for him. He lived for his family. A great man... I love you… He had many plans. We were suppose to baptize our Mateo on October 23rd, and we were suppose to go to Disneyland. He had planned a surprise wedding on that date. I just found that out… I love you, my love. I send you a kiss up to heaven...God bless you always...Take care of us from there.

UNA HISTORIA DE AMOR

Fue en Septiembre del 2006 cuando Omar me conoció por una foto que un primo le enseñó. Inmediatamente él me empezó a llamar por teléfono. Yo le contestaba pensando que nada podría pasar si él estaba en Estados Unidos y yo en Los Mochis, Sinaloa. De esta manera, hubo muchas llamadas hasta que en Octubre me dijo: ¨ ¿Quieres ser mi novia?¨ Yo le dije: ¨ ¡Siiiiiii!¨ (La verdad es que nunca pensé que esto hiciera que yo llegara a enamorarme tanto de él).

En Noviembre del 2006, me dijo: ¨ ¿Quieres venir a conocerme?¨ Y le dije: ̈¡Si, Claro!¨ Mi Mamá me acompañó. Nosotras dos solas, sin conocer mucho. Llegamos a Tijuana. Un Señor nos preguntó que a dónde íbamos y le dijimos que a Pico Rivera. ¨Y o las llevo¨. Nos dijo. Sin conocerlo nos subimos a su auto. Recuerdo tanto cuando vi a Omar desde lejos. Yo sin conocerlo dije: ¨ ¡Ese es!¨ Lo recuerdo parado en Washington Boulevard. Vestía una playera blanca muy ajustada (Era muy delgado). Lo vi de lejos y… Me enamoré de él al instante… La verdad es que fue amor a primera vista y creo que fue mutuo. Omar me presentó con su familia. Todos estaban felices porque veían a Omar tan feliz, con una tremenda sonrisa. Fuimos a cenar esa noche. Recuerdo que llegó un Mariachi al Restaurante y tocó la canción ¨Si nos dejan, nos vamos a querer toda la vida .̈ Entonces Omar escribió en un papel: ¨Do you want to marry me?¨ Y le dije: ¨¡Siiiiiiii!¨ Mi corazón latía a mil… Tuve que regresar a Los Mochis. Hablábamos por teléfono todos los días. Estábamos felices los dos. El 7 de Abril me pidió que viniera con toda mi familia. Vinimos mi Papá, mi Mamá, una Hermana y yo. Omar nos llevó por sorpresa a Las Vegas. Quería entregarme el anillo de compromiso. Por cuestión de tiempo no sucedió. De regreso a Pico Rivera, con la familia reunida los hizo. Recuerdo como él temblaba de miedo. Estábamos felices los dos. El 7 de Octubre me dijo que me fuera a vivir con él. Lo platicamos mucho. Lo platiqué con mis Padres que me apoyaron, a pesar de que la tradición de la casa es salir de blanco; pero hablé con mis Padres y me apoyaron al ver el tipo de persona que era Omar. Me vine por primera vez en Enero del 2008. Tuvimos muchas altas y bajas. Muchos tiempos difíciles en adaptarnos como pareja, pero nuestro amor reinaba. Compramos nuestra casa en Mayo del 2009, en Febrero del 2010 nació nuestro Ángel Omar que llegó a bendecir nuestro hogar. En Agosto del 2015 nació nuestro Mateo que vino a sellar aún más nuestro amor. Recuerdo una vez que íbamos a Reno en el auto y Omar volteó el espejo retrovisor para verme y me dijo: ¨ ¡Que orgulloso estoy de tener a mi familia! Que bendecidos somos. Te amo, Gladys. Gracias por mis hijos .̈ Todos los días me decía: ¨Te amo¨. Él vivía por sus hijos y por mí. Sus hijos eran su orgullo. Recuerdo esa noche cuando sucedió esa tragedia… Por la mañana me dio un abrazo que jamás olvidaré. Me dijo: ¨Te amo, Gladys¨. Ya por la noche, antes de irse a su trabajo, entró al cuarto de nosotros, me dio un beso le dio un abrazo de ternura a Mateo. Salió de casa…

Sé que mi Dios estuvo sufriendo por él. Vivía por su familia. Un gran hombre… Te amo…

Tenía muchos planes. Bautizaríamos a nuestro Mateo el 23 de Octubre e iríamos a Disneylandia. Me tenía por sorpresa la boda en esa fecha. Esto lo acabo de saber…

Te amo amor. Un beso hasta el Cielo… Dios te bendiga siempre… Cuídanos desde allá.

MISION GUADALUPANA La Misión Guadalupana se está llevando a cabo en Nuestra Comunidad Parroquial, incluyendo Bridgeport y Lee Vining. Cada semana una nueva Familia recogerá el Cuadro de la Virgen Peregrina y la llevará a su casa donde todos los vecinos serán invitados para que participen del Santo Rosario y de los temas de Evangelización impartidos por un par de Misioneros que acompañarán a la Familia durante la Semana. Los Viernes, El Padre Jorge celebrará la Santa Misa en esa casa y habrá convivio. Esta Familia entregará la Imagen a otra nueva Familia que será acompañada durante la

semana por otros misioneros. Si quieres recibir la Imagen Peregrina en tu casa, por favor dale tus datos a la Sra. ORACIONES POR EL RESPETO A LA VIDA.- - Por quienes están en el ocaso de su vida, para que sus familias y quienes los cuidan los animen y se preocupen por ellos con ternura, y rechacen lo que conduzca al suicidio asistido. Roguemos al Señor. - Por quienes trabajan en el área de la salud, los que trabajan con los enfermos terminales y con los moribundos, para que Dios les de Fortaleza. Roguemos al Señor. - Por quienes están cerca del final de la vida, para que reciban un cuidado amoroso que proteja y respete su dignidad. Roguemos al Señor. - Por todos los que trabajan para construir una cultura de la vida, para que su fe se fortalezca y su trabajo dé fruto. Roguemos al Señor.

MISSION OF GUADALUPE The Guadalupe Mission is taking place in Our Community Parish, including Bridgeport and Lee Vining. Each week a new family will take with them the Pilgrim Image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and take it home, where all the neighbors will be invited to participate in the Rosary and taught the subjects of evangelization for a few missionaries to accompany the family during the week. On Friday’s, Father Jorge will celebrate Mass in that house and there will be fellowship. This family will deliver the image to a new family. It will be accompanied during the week by other missionaries.
