Staff Community Hours
• Mission Statement: To bring the game of baseball to the youth of the minority populated areas in Omaha. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, our efforts were focused on connecting Minor League Baseball and the Omaha Storm Chasers to those communities during a culturally diverse eight-week youth clinic program.
Chasers FUNdamentals
• Transportation: This was arranged through the Peter Kiewit Foundation for buses to be available each Wednesday.
• Location: The time at the Hillside Little League fields was donated through Omaha Public Schools for weekly usage.
• Equipment: Partnered with a local contact from Marucci who helped with a donation of bats. We also used items that were donated last season by Mizuno.
• Staff: At least six Omaha Storm Chasers staff members, including full-time and interns, were present for the eight weekly clinic dates. Boys and Girls Club also provided chaperones. Members from Benson High School baseball team helped with the clinics as well.
Chasers FUNdamentals
• Time Commitment: Clinics were held every Wednesday morning from 10am until 12pm for eight weeks. One clinic was held on a Sunday afternoon with Omaha Storm Chasers players and coaches lasting one hour.
• Promotion: To help promote the program, the Boys and Girls Club with our mascot held ‘signing days’ at each club. Incentives were given to children interested in the program. A new logo was created to help with branding for future years.
