ABOUT OMAHA GIVES! Omaha Gives! is a 24 hour online fundraising event led by the Omaha Community Foundation to bring the community together to support local nonprofits through online fundraising. It is a community-wide event to show off Omaha’s spirit of giving, raise awareness about local nonprofits, and celebrate the collective effort it takes to make this city great. Anyone can participate and any amount makes a difference.

The 24-hour donation period will begin May 22nd at 12:00 midnight and be open until 12am midnight.

OMAHA GIVES! GOALS

• Raise awareness in the community about local nonprofits.

• Support the work of nonprofits with online fundraising.

• Bring as many people as possible together around giving.

• Show Omaha’s spirit of giving.

• Connect new donors with causes they care about.

WHO IS ELIGIBILE FOR OMAHA GIVES!?

• Any 501(c )3 public charity that has a mailing address in Douglas, Sarpy, or Pottawattamie counties.

• Organizations must set up a profile on the Omaha Gives! site by April 15th.

• Only one profile will be given per tax ID #. If your organization has multiple programs, please pick one to be represented during OG!

KIMBIA – OG! GIVING PLATFORM• Online fundraising platform that allows an easy, quick

donation process.

• A profile page featuring your non-profit will allow new donors to learn about what you do, existing donors can easily search your name and give on the page.

• Provides you with real-time reporting and tracking of success on May 22nd.

• Connect you with new donors who care about your cause.

• Richmond, VA• Doubled amount raised in 2nd year • $1.2 Million raised in 24 hours

MATCHING MONEY AND PRIZES The Omaha Community Foundation is still in the process of securing the following prize incentives and matching money:

• Matching money to be split by all participating nonprofits based on percentage of donations secured.

Example:  If your organization raises 1% of the total donations made during Omaha Gives!, you will receive 1% of the matching money to your total raised funds. 

• Participation prize money for the top organizations in two different size categories.  Nonprofits will be divided into two categories based on budget size. The organizations with the highest number of unique donors making a donation during the event will receive prize money. We are still determining how many places will receive awards in these categories.

• $1,000 random match hourly prizes.  If your organization receives a donation during the hour, you will be eligible to win the hourly match.  Keep people engaged and donating all hours!

NONPROFIT PARTICIPATION!

Any eligible organization can go to OmahaGives24.org to sign up to receive updates on training sessions, how to participate, and to fill out the registration form [COMING NEXT WEEK].

Taking part in Omaha Gives! will:• Offer the opportunity to connect with new or lapsed

donors.• Show-off the great work your org is doing in the city.• Raise unrestricted funds for your nonprofit. • Strengthen online fundraising and social media skills.

OCF’S ROLE IN OMAHA GIVES!We are hosting Omaha Gives! as a way to grow philanthropy in Omaha.

As the organizers of the day we are:

• Hosting the online platform through KIMBIA.• Securing matching funds and prize money.• Promoting the day in general. It is up to you to stir up

chatter surrounding your organization. The more you make noise, the more likely we are to pick up stories from your org to share.

• OCF will provide tax exempt receipts to all donors. • OCF is not receiving any revenue from Omaha Gives!

although there are fees for credit card processing. (See FAQ for details)

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY DONATIONS?

• All donations will be processed through the Omaha Community Foundation.

• Final checks of your donations raised – less fees – will be mailed to your organization up to 45 days after Omaha Gives!

• KIMBIA fees will be no more than 6% of your total raised.

• OCF does not take any funds from your total raised for their own operations.

• You will receive your list of donors up to 45 days after Omaha Gives!

OMAHA GIVES! TIPSThe success of your organization during Omaha Gives! relies on you being loud about the day to your supporters. In April, we will send out media and social media kits to all participating nonprofits.

Here are some ways you can start planning now:

• Social Media: if not on, set up accounts now. Facebook and Twitter will play a large part in the success of this day.

• Plan Events: Start plotting with your employees and volunteers about events you could hold, how you think your organization will reach the largest number of your supporters.

• Stay up-to-date: Follow OCF on social media and register for the OG! e-newsletter to get timely updates, share announcements, and network with our followers.

IMPORTANT DATES Keep these important Omaha Gives! dates on your calendar:

• Now: Start planning an OG! event to raise awareness on May 22nd.

Go to Omaha-Gives24.org to fill out your registration form.

• April 15: Registration application due. Media Kit and Social Media Kit e-mailed out. Start communicating Omaha Gives! to your

fan base.• May 22: Be loud! Keep people aware of your goals,

how much money you have raised, etc!

• Post-OG!: Remember to follow-up with all your donors during OG! It is a great opportunity to make new lasting relationships with people who care about your organization’s mission.
