Ethos W.E.T. the acronym stands for (W)ork (E)nergy (T)ime. This is water bottle's content is measured in time rather than fluid ounces. Appropriately, the bottle's form is inspired by the shape of the hourglass. The focus of time as the measurement unit of fluid intake helps remind the user to consume the daily water intake recommended; 8 glasses a day. Ethos W.E.T. morally markets responsibility of the daily water intake for the health minded individual. The bottle comes in 1/2, 1 hour, and 2 hour variations.

IDEATION

The "stealth" theme was inspired by the polygonal shape of the stealth bomber. It fits appropriately with the Right Guard brand, as the shower gel provides stealth protection from body odor & sweat. The position of the brand is to provide premium protection for odor for athletes.

The surfacing of the bottle recieved automotive a-class surfacing treatment. This means the design takes an unusually high detailed approach to the surfacing quality of the bottle. Sharp corners and surface changes are perfectly blended into curvaturecontinuous planes.

The proportions of the bottle follow the market trends for competing shower gels. The bottle is a 3 part injection mold made to keep production costs low for a run of 5 million units.

The shower gel market which is monopolized by Axe and the variety of products they offer, the Right Guard Stealth Shower Gel aims to be slightly taller and slender to stand apart without wasting package space.

Since the natural environment of the product is the shower, the labelling method used is in mold labelling. This way the label is not prone to da-mange and can preserve its aesthetics.

The cap is uses a butterfly hinge that is inte-grated into the intersecting hexagons. The natu-ral color of cap retains brand identity and pays homage to Right Guards NBA support.

The final execution of the design exhibits a sensitivity to surface unseen in bottledesigns. The sharp angular corners wash out into freeform blends. These sharp angles can be manufactured by pin venting the injection molds. This allows the air to vent out of the pin sized holes which in turn maintains the sharp angles.

The automotive class A style surfacing treatment also gives the product a unique percieved value helping the body wash bottle feel premium and extra strength.

The Hair Trimming Guide is a project worked in collaboration with the inventor Trey Burnette Sr. The client supplied a design patent for a unique hair trimming guide that would allow the consumer to trim their own fringe and split ends. My role as a designer in this project was to create a form to envelope the patented product into usable consumer product.

ExPLODED vIEW

The Hair Trimming Guide is a simple hair clip that lets the user trim their own fringe and split ends. The patented teeth were designed by inventor Trey Burnette Sr. I designed an ergonomic shell to facilitate use of the clip.

The exploded view shows a simple construction of two molds assembled together with an adjusted aluminum spring. The prototype was made of a semi opaque polyure-thane as is intended for the production run.

This product was created for a limited initial run for market testing and a product cost less than five dollars.

PROTOTYPE

The final prototype was a polyeurathane 2 part mold attached by an aluminum coiled spring. This was then engineered to help the Hair Trimming Guide open a full 85 degrees and snap shut back into its original closed form. The finalmanufactured hair trimming guide was a clear polyeurathane mold with a semi opaque pink finish(at the request of the inventor, Trey Burnette Sr.)

IDEATION

A sharp, angular design taking inspiration from modern architecture. An aluminum frame wraps around the tv set giving the design a sense of structural strength. The well placed surface turns are elegant and economical. There is alot going in in this design without looking busy.

IDEATION

The original tv set was the inspiration for this design. It reintroduces wood trim to the modern lcd tv. The design also mimics the assymetrical layout of speakers and control knobs. The design takes on a art deco theme of its own in this execution.

IDEATION

The basis of this design focused on the aesthetic appeal of the base. The stand intersects a plane of glass on the base. It aesthetically tricks the mind to feel the tv is floating on nothing from certain angles and from others the reflections of the glass give a sense of weight to the base.

Yo Bykes has a range of electric scooters in which this is Yo Speed, the medium size electric scooter.No license is necessary for operating this scooter since its maximum speed is less than 35 km/h. This vehicle is mostly operated by middle income housewives in urban intensive areas. The electric battery holds charge for 40 km.

The final orthographics of the design project a change in aesthetic direction from the initial approach that was a more literal translation of eco-friendly, electric, and green. The final execution had sharper lines maintaining the electric feel however the design became inadver-tantly more aggressive.

IDEATION

One of the features explored for this scooter was a front "bread basket" carraige space. This would be used primarly to carry quick items to pick up and at most could hold a 2 liter cola bottle remaining closed. However, it is designed to also be used open, literally like a bread basket.

IDEATION

A few alternative features explored for the scooter include a lighter adapter for charging mobile products, and a drawstring padded rucksack for storage.

Typically scooters use shelves and plastic compartments for holding products. The drawback of the typical compartment is it carelessly holds products such as mobile phones and is quite cumbersome to clean.

The advantage of a rucksack is the versatility, security, and mobile branding-that-goes-with-you advantage it offers.

The full size clay model was created over the original scooter's modified chassis over the period of 2 months. The professional clay modellor and I worked together to lift the design off the paper onto clay.

The existing scooter's turning indicators were used in the final design. By sheer luck they fit into the new design. Several new features on this vehicle were resolved in the clay phase such as the integrated rear foot rest.

This is a type of project in which its very necessary to jump into 3d modelling quickly for purposes of resolving design issues as well as ergonomic.

FULL ScALE MODEL

This vehicle commemorates the Carolina Nascar racing foundation. With a wide body design and full body ventilation, the design has a low center of gravity and a wide body with recessing carbon fiber wheel wells for better ventilation of heat from tires. It also provides better access for quickly replacing tires at the pit.

HUMAN FAcIAL MUScLES

One of the classes I loved in design school was anatomy for artists. This is one of the sketches I produced on a wacom tablet representing the human fascial muscles. An underlying elementary understanding of humman tissue construction helps to understand the way expressions, hands, and overall body movements work. This inevitably effects the design of products you hold, sit, and work with.
