Olympic Game

Basketball

The womens tournament will tip-off at the Basketball Arena on Saturday 28 July, with Great Britain v Australia among the games on the first day. The mens tournament begins the following day, when defending Olympic champions USA take on France.

Archery

The World Archery-recognised international tournament saw some of the worlds best archers battle it out for success on the Lords hallowed turf.

Athletics

In less than 12 months, LOCOG has delivered 42 test events in 28 venues, allowing hundreds of thousands of spectators to enjoy world-class sport in Olympic and Paralympic venues.

Over 8,000 athletes have competed across 183 days of competition, spanning all Olympic sports and disciplines and six Paralympic sports.

Badminton

One of the most dynamic Olympic sports, Badminton made its full Olympic debut at Barcelona 1992.

Asian countries now dominate: China, Indonesia and South Korea have won 23 of the 24 gold medals awarded since the sports first appearance at the Games.

Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball is a relatively young Olympic sport, making its full debut in Atlanta 1996. Since then its popularity has rocketed and it looks to be a crowd favourite at London 2012

Boxing

Seven British boxers have so far qualified for the men's competition at London 2012, following the men's Olympic qualifier in Turkey in April 2012.

Canoe

The competition at Lee Valley White Water Center begins with the men's Kayak and the men's Canoe Single. Men's Canoe Double and women's Kayak take place on 30 July, with medal events each day from 31 July2 August.

Cycling - BMX

Taking place at the BMX Track in the Olympic Park, the London 2012 competition will see 48 competitors (32 men and 16 women) compete over three days from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 August.

Diving

The line-up will include Chinese Olympic champions He Chong and Chen Ruolin. Chong is 2008 Olympic individual 3m Springboard gold medallist and three-time world champion while Ruolin is double Olympic champion, winning both the 10m Platform and Synchronised 10m Platform.

Equestrian

The Eventing competition is followed by the Dressage and Jumping, starting on 2 August and 4 August respectively. In total, 200 athletes and their horses will compete across the three disciplines in an attempt to win one of six gold medals on offer.

Fencing

Debbie Jevans said: This multi-sport venue is one of the most important and exciting Olympic venues and will be a hub of sporting activity at Games time, accommodating seven sports during the Olympic Games and six during the Paralympics, second only to the Olympic Park.

Football

In the mens tournament, current world champions Spain are set to play Japan at Hampden Park, and Brazil will take on New Zealand at St James Park in Newcastle.

Shooting

The competitions will be hosted across three indoor ranges and three open air ranges. Construction is on track to be completed in December, ahead of international shooting test events next spring.

Swimming

The London 2012 Swimming competition promises to be just as exciting, with a number of athletes returning to defend their records.

Gymnastics

A total of 96 gymnasts will participate in two events the Individual and Team All-Around competitions. It will be the the final of the three Gymnastics disciplines to take place during the London 2012 Games.

Judo

Judo contests are a five-minute whirlwind of combat, with athletes attempting a combination of throws and holds in a bid to defeat their opponents.

Water Polo

In the men's event, hosts Great Britain have been drawn in Group B and will take on Olympic champions Hungary, Montenegro, Romania, Beijing 2008 silver medallists USA and bronze medallists Serbia. The four highest ranked teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-final round.

Trampoline

Prepare to be dazzled by the athletes in the Trampoline competition at the London 2012 Games, the newest of the three Gymnastics disciplines on the Olympic programme.

Table Tennis

The men's and women's Singles events both begin on 28 July. The women's competition will finish on 7 August, swiftly followed by the end of the men's competition on 8 August.

Olympic Torch Relay

During the day the Flame will visit a number of iconic landmarks including Caerphilly Castle, the Sail Bridge in Swansea, and the Swansea Live Site. Today marks the beginning of the second week of the Flame's 70 day journey around the UK. So far over one million people have come out to see the Torch Relay.
