JAMS Program Details

• Hands-on lab activities• Apply math and science into real-world engineering projects

or other applications• Look at sustainability and environmental resources

(renewable energy, water resources, etc.)• Use of technology to complete assignments and to interact

with classmates and community• Teachers collaborate with community partners (Intel, state

and local agencies, St. Martin’s University, Evergreen State College)

• STEM/CTE (upper level classes)

Criteria for Student Success

• Strong work and study habits• MSP scores for Reading, Writing, Math, and Science at level 3 or

level 4. • MAP scores for Reading and Math above the 85th Percentile. • Those who maintain semester grade of C or better in JAMS classes

tend to perform well in high school level classes.

**Map testing is available at JMS if your child has not been tested.

Selection Process

Lottery

• Pool 1: • Students meeting criteria for success will be randomly selected until all

spots are filled or names are exhausted, whichever comes first.• MSP scores – Level 3 or 4• MAP scores – 85th percentile and above

• Pool 2: • Space permitting, students not in Pool 1 will be drawn to fill remaining

spots with preference given to students who meet the following criteria: • MSP scores – High Level 2 and above• MAP scores – 75th percentile and above

• Waiting List: • If space is filled and applicants remain, those students will be placed on

a waiting list based on selection criteria.
