Aloha O’eJackie Lowe relocated to Florida at the end of April. We all wish her well and much happiness. Jackie joined Oahu League in 2000 and will be remembered for her great sense of humor and a “fun lady.” If you would like to drop her a line, her address is 21637 Port Rush Run, Estero, FL 33928.

MahaloA big Mahalo to Jane Au for the beautiful leis she made for our May

Day luncheon and our State Convention. Her contribution of these

leis amounted to $165 at our luncheon and $510 at Convention! Our

PAC is growing because of her tremendous gift. AND, she came to

the State Convention to help sell her leis at our table.

Nancy Gallagher won the 50/50 drawing. $41 went to Nancy and $41 went to the OLRW PAC. Nancy generously donated all of her winnings to the PAC.

May Luncheon

Hawaii Republican Party Convention

City Prosecutor, Peter Carlisle was our speaker and had us laughing at his comments

on the foolishness of some of our current laws. He also gave us a snapshot of the

recent murder case he tried and answered many questions.

Helen Kekuna donated a beautiful arrangement of yellow popcorn orchids in a lovely

glass vase to our PAC which was auctioned. Julie Lee was the winning bidder at $40.

It was great to see Kahala Motoyama at our luncheon. She’s back to work at State, DOT and is almost fully

recovered from her very bad pedestrian accident in 2007. She credits the power of prayer for her recovery.

Convention NewsHelene Webster was named “Volunteer of the Year” and eight OLRW members were named “Volunteers of the Month”: Helen & George Kekuna, Carol Thomas, John Henry Felix, Joseph Henao, Jeri Jeffryes, Gwen Honjo, and Bob Kessler. AWESOME

OLRW Delegates to the National Convention in Minneapolis include: Governor Linda Lingle, Rep.

Kymberly Pine, Rep. Gene Ward, LG Duke Aiona, Vivian Aiona, Adrienne King, Julie Lee, Rep. Barbara

Marumoto, and Kathy Thomason. OLRW alternates to the convention are: John Henry Felix, Rep.

Colleen Meyer, Marcia Klompus, Laura Millman, Cindy Rosebrough, and Bev Toomey.
