FROM OUR PASTOR

St. Paul reminds us that the word of God is not chained. In other words, the power of God’s word is not defeated by the indifference and even hatred of the world. Did you know? The Archdiocese is participating in an Independent Com-pensation Program for Victim-Survivors of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, along with five other dioceses in California, is participating in an independent program to offer persons who were victims of abuse as minors by diocesan priests, access to compensation as well as access to counseling services if they chose. Those harmed many years ago and barred from filing lawsuits because of civil statutes of limita-tions will be eligible to make claims under the Independent Compensation Program for Victim-Survivors of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests. The Archdiocese’s participation in the program is part of a long-standing commit-ment to supporting and compensating victims of abuse, the protection of chil-dren and the vulnerable, and the prevention of abuse and misconduct in Cath-olic parishes, schools and ministries. Nationally recognized mediators and private compensation program administrators, Kenneth R. Feinberg and Ca-mille S. Biros will administer the program. Funding for the program in our Archdiocese will come from self-insured reserves, monies set aside for this purpose. We pray that this new program might provide another avenue toward healing and hope. For information about the program please vis-it www.californiadiocesesicp.com.

World Mission Sunday

Next week is World Mission Sunday. Remembering that we are baptized and sent as a Universal Church of Christ on mission in the world, we can PRAY for

the Church’s worldwide missionary work and OFFER financial help and charity through The Society for the Propagation of the Faith for vulnerable communities throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacif-ic Islands. Please keep the Pope’s missions in your prayers and be generous in next week’s collection.

NOTICIAS
