PROJECT TITLE
Arduino based condition monitoring and auto charging of car battery
SUPERVISOR Dr. Subhra Debdas
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
One Arduino based battery condition monitoring and auto charging will be develop to get the
status of the battery and charging. The popularly used dry/wet cells voltage will be sensing
through the Arduino Nano and indicate the owner about its condition. Then as per conditions,
microcontroller will take appropriate action to charge the battery. These batteries carry the
voltage level of 12V, so this system can measure a cell's voltage with the help of Arduino to
determine the state of the cell.

PROJECT TITLE SMART CANE FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED USING ARDUINO
SUPERVISOR Mohammed Abdul Nasar
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
In this project, we want to make something to help the visually impaired to become independent, so we
will create an open source Arduino project for a Smart Cane. This Arduino smart cane can assist with
walking alone for the blind persons in new environments by taking inputs through an obstacle sensor
(ultrasonic sensor) and providing feedback to the person through haptics (vibration motor).

PROJECT TITLE PIR based occupancy sensor and power saver
SUPERVISOR Dr. Subhra Debdas
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives: In this project PIR based occupancy sensor will be applied to sense any human beings are presence
in that particular location or not. Many time it had been seen that we left our room without
switching of the electrical appliances operating in that particular room and affect our monthly
electric bill. Through this project we can easily control our misuse of electricity and can control
our electric bill. The purpose of this project is to save the power used in places like libraries,
staircases, parking, gardens etc. where lots of power is wasted unnecessarily by keeping the fans
and lights ON even when there is no one present, and also at places where security is paramount
and an alarm needs to be generated when someone is passing by.

PROJECT TITLE Luggage security alarm using IC UM3561
SUPERVISOR S.Gobi Mohan
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
When we travel by train we are always doubtful about the theft of our luggage and find ways to
secure our luggage, many times unsuccessfully. We were looking at a simple and more efficient
way of doing the same. We made a luggage security alarm with the help of musical tones using IC
3561 which is powered with 3V supply. The moment the lock is broken, the IC generates an alarm
either a police siren, fire engine siren, machine gun sound or an ambulance alarm thus notifying
the owner about the theft of his luggage, hence alarming the owner about the theft.

PROJECT TITLE Two digit Object / Product counter design
SUPERVISOR S.Gobi Mohan
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
This project is designed to detect direction, which is useful for counting the objects moving along
a predefined path. This project can be applicable as a visitor counter and also as a counter for
counting objects. The counter section consists of two IR LEDs & IR receiver as detectors. The
movement of the objects including the direction of their movement is detected by the arrangement
of the IR LED and IR Receiver detector pairs. The IR Receiver of each pair is mounted opposite
to its corresponding IR LEDs, which fall directly on the IR Receiver detector.

PROJECT TITLE GSM Based Cell Phone Remote Control Switch Circuit
SUPERVISOR S. Gobinathan
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
Now a days you can control any electrical gadget from any part of the world through your cell
phone, that too without spending a penny for the individual commands. Whether it’s you vehicle,
your basement door, your mansion gate or simply the air conditioner of your house, everything
can now be switched by just a flick of your cell phone button. And mind you, it’s completely fool
proof, meaning no false triggering is possible through any other cell phone signals, it works only
through the owner’s cell phone commands. Finally we achieve the object of this project of human
safety.

PROJECT TITLE Frequency Counter using Arduino
SUPERVISOR Prasad C
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
Almost every electronic hobbyist must have faced a scenario where he or she must measure the
frequency of signal generated by a clock or a counter or a timer. We can use oscilloscope to do
the job, but not all of us can afford an oscilloscope. We can buy equipment for measuring the
frequency but all these devices are costly and are not for everyone. With that in mind we are going
to design a simple yet efficient Frequency Counter using Arduino Uno and Schmitt trigger gate.
This Frequency Counter is cost effective and can be easily made, we are going to use ARDUINO
UNO for the measuring the frequency of signal, UNO is the heart of project here.
To test the Frequency Meter, we make a dummy signal generator. This dummy signal generator
will be made by using a 555 timer chip. The timer circuit generates a square wave which will be
provided to UNO for testing.
With everything in place we will have a Frequency meter and a square wave generator.

PROJECT TITLE Temperature Controlled Lights Circuit
SUPERVISOR Dr.P.Radika
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
In this project two lights (LEDs) are controlled according to the surrounding temperature. The IC LM 35 is used as temperature sensor here. By setting a reference temperature and when the actual temperature is below the reference temperature one LED glows on. And when the actual temperature is above the reference temperature another LED glows on. The reference temperature value can be set by adjusting the variable resistor in the circuit, according to requirement. The reference and actual temperatures are compared by a comparator IC LM 358.
This temperature controlled lights circuit can be useful in many ways, like it can work as temperature indicator or it can trigger any device like fan or alarm beyond a particular temperature. The temperature controlled circuit /heat sensor circuit is important in computer and many electronic circuits like amplifier. Due to overheating, the expensive components present in the computer or other appliances could be damaged. Thus by using the heat sensor circuit when the temperature around the heat sensor increases above its set value, then it senses the heat and gives an indication, so that we can protect the devices from damage.

PROJECT TITLE Automatic Emergency Light
SUPERVISOR Dr. M.Sivakumar
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
This project is the simple and cost effective automatic emergency light circuit with light sensing. This system charges from main supply and gets activated when main supply is turned OFF. Here step down transformer is used to reduce input AC voltage to low AC voltage. Diode Bridge is used to convert input AC voltage to pulsating DC. Here capacitor C1 is used to remove the ripples from the rectified DC. LED D1 indicates the main supply and resistor R1 is used to protect the LED D1 from high voltage. In this circuit transistor Q1 switches states white LED’s based on the supply as well as light conditions. The output of LDR is connected to the base of transistor Q1 to switch the transistor based on the light conditions. The collector terminal of the transistor Q1 is connected is connected to the gate of MOSFET to switch white LED’s according to the conditions. In this circuit voltage regulator 7808 is used to regulate voltage and current. This IC has built in current limiting circuit. The output of this voltage regulator is positive 8V. 2 white LED’s are connected in series, so two white LED’s glow with the current that is required for a single LED. As a result energy is saved. For a white LED we need a minimum of 3.6V and maximum of 20mA current.

PROJECT TITLE SHADOW ALARM
SUPERVISOR M. Srinivasan
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
In general, security alarm is a system designed to detect intrusion, unauthorized entry into
a building or area. Security alarms are used in residential, commercial, industrial, and military
properties for protection against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as personal protection
against intruder. A “Shadow Alarm” is a device or method used to prevent or detect an
unauthorized person trying to enter into your home or shop without your permission. This Intruder
detector using shadow is not only used in homes or shops but we can even use it in garage door
openings, security applications, etc. We can say that it is one of the reliable process and also we
can save power. This opto-sensitive circuit sounds an alarm whenever a shadow falls on it. So it
can be used at night by shopkeepers to protect the valuables in their showrooms. A dim lighting in
the room is necessary to detect the moving shadow. Unlike opto-interruption alarms based on light-
dependent resistors (LDRs), it does not require an aligned light beam to illuminate the photo-
sensor.
PROJECT TITLE Sound operated timer security system
SUPERVISOR Dr.G.Sugumaran
LEVEL DIPLOMA
Objectives:
This sound-operated timer is based on IC 741 operational amplifier and NE555 timer. Time delay can be set from a few seconds to 30 minutes. It can also be used as a sound-sensitive burglar alarm. It can also be used as a sound-sensitive burglar alarm. Output pin of IC 741 is fed to pin 2 of NE555 through capacitor C3. IC2 is configured as a monostable multivibrator. Sound signal, like clapping, sensed by condenser microphone MIC1 is amplified by IC1. Relay unit is connected with the lamp load to control the output. By changing POT 2 values, lamp ON and OFF time duration can also be change.
