PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD

CRITERIA

All local chapters whose dues have been recorded at the FBLA–PBL National Center by February 6, 2015, are eligible. Deadline: All entries must be postmarked by March 31, 2017. Send entries with SLC registration/competitive event materials to: Lacey Haines, [email protected] .

All chapters receiving a minimum of 10 points will be eligible to receive this award. The top chapters will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference.

PROCEDURE

This award requires chapters to submit the completed form and required documentation in pdf form to [email protected].

Each participating chapter should consistently save documentation of any public relations activity in which they have participated. Any activity or documentation that is questionable will be decided upon by the consent of the judges. Acceptable Public Relations entries must be published, implemented, and presented between July 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017.

For each eligible document, the chapter will receive points based on the scale below. Each activity must include documentation proving its publication or implementation and be numbered according to the point table. Judges’ decisions are final.

SUBMISSIONS/POINTS

While we understand that many people have a broad definition of public relations, for the purposes of this award, public relations be defined as any summaries about chapter activities. NOTE: Announcements that a meeting will be held, bulletin boards, emails sent, and recruitment letters do not count for this award. Only published “summaries” of activities earn points.

All articles must be about the chapter’s FBLA–PBL activities. An article that simply mentions an FBLA–PBL member or adviser does not count for this award. Articles published in the state newsletter that mention a chapter or member but are not submitted by the local chapter do not count for this award (i.e. State Officer Training, SFLC, etc.).

For award purposes, each publication counts toward a chapter’s point total. For example, if your school newspaper is published in hard copy and electronic formats (including an online edition), an article that is published may only be counted one time.

If you submit the same article to multiple publications, each publication counts toward your point total. So, if the same article is published in your school newspaper and the state newsletter, you may count each publication for points. If you submit multiple articles to the same publication, (i.e. different issues of the state newsletter) you may count each issue/publication for points.

Below is breakdown of the point values for each type of publication/media. If you have a question about points, or do not see a type of media listed, please contact State Adviser Lacey Haines at [email protected].
