    OIS Parent Bulletin 

    #14 - April 23, 2016SOIS Visitation DayFriday April 29

    Elementary school parents are invited to 

    attend the biannual Osaka Olympics 

    starting at 12:30 PM on the football field. 

    There will be no visiting classrooms for in 

    the morning to limit disruptions to 

    elementary classes. Grade 4 parents can 

    attend the Business Emporium where 

    students will be selling their products. MS & 

    HS parents are welcome to come to visit 

    classes all day as well as the Emporium. A 

    reminder that all parents are invited to a 

    talk by Dr. Yamamoto from KGU on 

    bilingualism at 14:00 in third floor  

    conference room.

    Spring Music RecitalThe recital will take place on Tuesday April 

    26 at 4:00 PM in the theater. A wide age 

    range of students will be performing solo 

    pieces on a variety of instruments, 

    ncluding strings, winds and voice. For  

    more information, please contact SOIS

    U of Manchester VisitUniversity of Manchester (UK) research 

    scientist Dr. Takahashi will be giving a 

    presentation to OIS grade 10 and 11 

    students on Monday April 25 in the theatre 

    starting at 2:40 PM. The lecture will be on 

    embryology and human evolution and 

    anatomy. After the talk, representatives 

    from the university will giving information 

    on courses and admission grades. All 

    parents are invited to attend.

    Elementary School Earth WeeStudents initiated action in all sorts of ways to promote conservation 

    the earth and reducing humans’ negative effects on the environme 

    The idea of reducing what we use was reinforced with the Eco Clu 

    display of plastic bottles and bags. The students appreciated trees a 

    did a lot of planting in our school gardens. They also had a “power ho 

    and found out that we do not need to turn on the lights to see. A  

    student summed it up best saying she learned that “we take care of  

    earth and she takes care of us.”

    SOIS Visual Arts Annual Exhibition “Memories” OIS parents are invited to a planning meeting on Wednesday April 27 at 3:40 PM in the elementary art room. Ple 

    bring your ideas! The visual arts exhibition will take place during Art Week - June 6-10, 2016. The art departmen 

    asking for local artists to come and display their works on the opening Monday June 6. Please contact Jenn
