Local Chapters
oikos Spring Meeting 2008, Cologne, Germany
In 2008, oikos Local Chapters organised 126events, including conferences, panel discussions,simulation games, seminars, surveys, lectures,movie screenings and reading circles.
They increased awareness about sustainability in
around 22.000 students at their universities andbusiness schools. Some changed the curriculumof their eld of study, others focused on changingtheir university as an organisation.

A lecture series on development cooperation and sustainability
continuously attracts more than 100 students - the rst course organised
by oikos Cologne integrated into the ofcial University curriculum.
Having co-founded oikos Bayreuth in the 1990s I fullyendorse the ideas oikos stands for. Today, oikos is still

Universities:
January 2008 and 2009:At the LondonSchool of Economics, speakers from Citigroup,Zouk Ventures, Five Talents, Planet Financeand Sustainable Finance Ltd. etc. discuss theemerging challenges in the nancial world.
November 2008: During the WinterSchool at the University of Witten/Herdecke,Germany, Deutsche Bank meets the GLS Bankto compare different approaches to sustainablebanking.
December 2008: oikos Cologne and oikosHamburg, in cooperation with the GLS Bank,
each attract over 100 people with paneldiscussions on the nancial future, featuringspeakers from academia, media and praxis.
Follow-up events are planned for 2009.

nance education based on sustainbilityprinciples. Together with selectedthought leaders from the nanceindustry, the participants of the oikosPRI Young Scholars Finance Academymeet in Zurich to develop concrete stepsfor curriculum development. We alsointend to engage in follow-up projectswith the global PRI academic network.

In 2009 we are launching aninternational oikos AlumniInitiative in order to stay intouch with our Alumni andhelp them to continuouslymake an impact forsustainability.

In our international projects in 2008,we teamed up with Ashoka, the UNPRI and the Swiss National Fund.We are grateful to the MercatorFoundation Switzerland, who enabledus to considerably extend the oikosPhD Fellowship Programme. We alsoreceived project-specic funding andcontent support from companies likeHenkel, IKEA, BASF, RWE and theGLS Bank.
In 2009, we intend to strengthen ourexisting partnerships and activelydevelop new cooperations.
