Buyer Thank You Poster Contest The Ross County JFB is sponsoring a “Buyer Thank You Poster Contest” for members taking market animals. • Posters should be no bigger than 11” X 14” except for

rabbits which should be 8” x 11”. • It is suggested to use foam board or laminate poster

since it is sturdy and easier to mount. Posters must be up by 8:00 pm on Tuesday of the fair.

• Posters must include first and last name as well as club name. Place poster on pen or in designated location. If designated location is unknown, contact your barn superintendent. Winning posters will be notated and recognized by ribbons on their pens.

• If you win, you must claim your prizes at the Jr. Fair Board Office

Award Thank You Notes The Ross County Jr. Fair participants are fortunate enough to have thousands of dollars donated to cover the cost of Jr. Fair Awards each year. In order to show our gratefulness for their generosity and support the Jr. Fair Board will be providing thank you notes to each winning exhibitor that will need to be completed and turned in before an award will be given. In order to help our young exhibitors, understand the importance of thank you notes and develop the skills needed to successfully write them, thank you notes will now be a station in Skillathon!

Blender Bike! The Ohio 4-H Healthy Living Team

has Blender Bikes available to borrow for club meetings! The bike comes with a list of recipes you can make and fun facts about healthy living! Call the office and let Katie know a couple dates when you might like to borrow the bike and we can make it happen for one of your club meetings this fall!

Skillathon 2017 Tuesday, July 11 or Saturday, July 22 @ Fairgrounds *All animal exhibitors are required to participate in Skillathon in order to show/sell at the Ross

County Jr. Fair 2017. There are TWO date options to attend. Horse Skillathon is held separately.

**Plan to attend your club’s assigned times. Please be patient as our volunteers work with our exhibitors! Study guides are available online for every species--- every question that could be asked is covered on these study guides!

Skillathon vouchers are “Activity Vouchers” that can be used in addition to “project vouchers”. Remember, youth must achieve over 75% score on Skillathon to earn this voucher.

Skillathon Changes for 2017 The Jr. Fair Board voted to add a 6th station to all animal Skillathons. The 6th station will be on how to produce quality Thank You notes. Juniors will need to recognize important parts, Intermediates will need to be able to rank the quality of a set of thank you notes, and Seniors will be required to write a quality thank you note from start to finish. Please help your exhibitors practice!

The 4-H Halloween Campout Committee is excited about putting this event on for its 9th year! It will be September 29-October 1 at the Ross Co. Fairgrounds. It is only open to 4-H volunteers, members and their families. Registration packets will be available to advisors starting July 15 at the Extension office and during the week of the Ross County Fair, in the Jr. Fair Building at the Extension/Jr. Fair Office window. A 4-H advisor (Advisor in Charge) must be present at this event and must be camping. If none of your advisors can attend the event, your members can still participate if they find another club who has an advisor present AND camping and would be willing to take your members in. The Advisor designated as "In Charge" of each club (this does not have to be the organizational advisor but must be a current Ross County 4-H Advisor) will register all participants through an online registration system *info found in packet.* The 4-H Halloween Campout Committee will hold a mandatory "Advisors in Charge" meeting on Thursday, September 14 at 6:00 pm at the RCSC to go over the rules, plans, club assignments for helping at the event etc. to assist everyone in having a great experience. NEW THIS YEAR: ALL PAYMENTS WILL BE TURNED IN AT THE ADVISOR IN CHARGE MEETING (not in the office).

The deadline for ALL registrations is September 1. No registrations will be accepted after this date. Cost is $50 per campsite which includes up to 5 people. Each camper above the 5 is an additional $5 per guest. Payments should be written as one check from the club. No cash payments will be accepted.

Featured activities include: wagon rides, crafts and games, Trick-or-Treat, Costume Contest, Haunted Campsites, and Best Decorated Campsite (both single and group) so be sure to get all your decorations ready if you would like it to be judged! We look forward to seeing you at the Campout this year.
