Create Your dream Poptropica Island Contest Enter for the opportunity to have your idea launched into a brand-new Island on Poptropica! One grand-prize winner will see their Island created on Poptropica. The grand-prize winner and ten runners-up will each receive a full set of Poptropica books. See official rules. A PURCHASE WILL NOT ENHANCE YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO WIN. Open to residents of the fiſty United States and the District of Columbia, ages 8–12. HOW TO ENTER 1. To enter the Create Your Dream Poptropica Island Contest (the “Contest”), read these Official Rules and submit your idea for a new island in Poptropica by completing the entry form which can be downloaded and printed from www.penguin.com/poptropica or available in the Poptropica Island Creator Kit. You may use any medium, such as pencil, ink or crayons to create your drawings and descriptions. Each entry form must include your first and last name, full mailing address, age, telephone number, first and last name of your parent or legal guardian, and all requested descriptions and drawings. Entries must be sent by US mail only to Penguin Young Readers Group Marketing, 345 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10014, Attention: Create Your Dream Poptropica Island Contest. Limit one entry per person. 2. Contest begins August 1, 2013. To be eligible, all entries must be postmarked on or by December 24, 2013 and received on or by December 31, 2013. Submissions by fax, email or any other electronic means will not be considered. 3. All entries become the property of Family Education Network, a division of Pearson Education, Inc. (“FEN”) and will not be returned. By entering the Contest, contestants agree to abide by these rules, and represent and warrant that the entries are their own and original creations, and do not violate or infringe the rights, including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights or rights of publicity/privacy, of any third party. 4. Entries are void if they are in whole or in part illegible, incomplete or damaged. Penguin Young Readers Group, a division of Penguin Group (USA) Inc. (“Sponsor”) assumes no responsibility for late, lost, damaged, incomplete, illegible, postage due or misdirected mail entries. On or about February 28, 2014, one Grand Prize winner and ten (10) runner-up winners will be selected by a qualified panel of judges chosen by Sponsor, including Jeff Kinney and the Poptropica creative team. 2. Entries will be judged based upon how creative and inspiring the ideas are, with equal weight being given to each criterion. The decisions of the judges and Sponsor with respect to the selection of the winner and in regard to all matters relating to this Contest shall be final and binding. 3. Winners will be notified by telephone or mail. prizes 1. One Grand Prize winner will have his or her design developed by the Poptropica creative team and launched on the Poptropica website in 2014. 2. Grand Prize winner and ten (10) runners-up will receive the following Poptropica books: Poptropica: The Official Guide; Astro-Knights Island; Skullduggery Island; Cryptids Island; Lunar Colony; Pencil Warrior; Friends Handbook and Poptropica Mad Libs (Total Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of each prize = $56.00). 3. In the event that there is an insufficient number of qualified entries or if the judges determine in their absolute discretion that no or too few entries meet the quality standards established to award the prizes, Sponsor reserves the right not to award the prizes. eligibility Open to residents of the fiſty United States and the District of Columbia, ages 8–12. Employees of Sponsor and its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates or other parties in any way involved in the development, production or distribution of this Contest, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible to participate in this Contest. In the event of the unavailability of a prize or prizes, Sponsor may substitute a prize or prizes of equal or greater value. 2. All expenses, including taxes (if any), related to receipt and use of prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. 3. Winner may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release. The Affidavit must be returned within fourteen (14) days of notification or winner will forfeit the prize and another winner will be selected. As a selected winner will be under eighteen (18) years of age, his/her parent or legal guardian will be required to sign the Affidavit. Should the ARV equal or exceed $600.00, winner shall be required to provide a Social Security Number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number to Sponsor for issuance of a 1099 Form. 4. By accepting a prize, the winner grants to Sponsor and FEN the right to edit, adapt, publish, copy, display and otherwise use his/her entry in connection with this Contest without further compensation, including display on the Poptropica website, and to further use the winner’s name, likeness and biographical information, with parental permission, in advertising and promotional materials, without further compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law. 5. By participating in the Contest and/or accepting the prize, contestants release Sponsor, FEN, their parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, authors whose books are promoted hereby or the agencies of any of them, from any liability, injury, damages, cost or expense, including reasonable attorney’s fees, arising out of or connected to participation in this Contest, including but not limited to claims related to Sponsor’s or FEN’s use of the entries, or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prizes. 6.
