ABOUT WAMi Weekender 2004
The WAMi Weekender, happening June 3-8 2004, is a 6 daymini-festival showcasing more than 100 of Western Australia'smost promising and cutting edge acts to industry, media anddeveloping audiences from WA and abroad.
Artists were chosen to play the Weekender from over 250submissions, which were assessed by our Selection Panel ofindependent music industry practitioners in 10 separatecategories: Contemporary Pop; Country; Electronic/ Dance;Experimental & New Music; Hard Rock/ Metal; Indie Rock/Punk; Jazz/ Fusion; Roots; Urban; and World/ Multicultural. A small number of acts were invited to perform as headlinersfor particular events. These are End Of Fashion, TheHampdens, Ku-Ling Bros, Blue Shaddy Band, Lynn Hazeltonand Subtruck.
The WAMi Weekender, as a bridging event between our majorWAMi Festivals, gives us the opportunity to trial a number ofnew ideas for incorporating into the running of our EventsProgram Area. As always we welcome comment from anyoneinvolved relating their experiences with the festival.
We hope you enjoy the WAMi Weekender - we've certainlyhad a heap of fun putting it together!
