WELCOME LETTER

Dear Basketball Friends,

Welcome to Kavadarci and the 2010 U20 European Championship Women, Division B.

It's summer and for us that means it's time, once again, for youth basketball to take centre stage.

With 211 teams participating in 14 tournaments there will be plenty of opportunities for fans across Europe to see some of the best young talent in the world.

We saw last summer at both EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women how effective our youth system has been in developing talent. Players like Pau Gasol, Milos Teodosic and Tony Parker all made their international debuts at a FIBA Europe youth event.

I'm sure we will see plenty of new talent blossom this summer but it's important to remember that these competitions are not only about development.

Every team here will to do their best to represent their country and hopes to take their place on the podium on the final day of the competition.

Good luck to all the participants and thank you to the basketball federation of the F.Y.R. of Macedonia for hosting this great event.

Best regards,

Olafur RafnssonPresident of FIBA Europe

WELCOME LETTER

Dear Basketball Friends,

Welcome to Kavadarci and the 2010 U20 European Championship Women, Division B.

For all of us at FIBA Europe summer has come to mean one thing, youth basketball.

This year 12 different nations will host 14 tournaments, and as usual we expect these competitions to serve as a glimpse into the future of our game.

For that reason our summer youth tournaments have not only been a great tool in developing the game in Europe, they have also proved to be of great interest to fans across the continent in their own right as evidenced by the increased traffic on our website, fibaeurope.com.

Last summer our youth tournament sites registered an amazing 4.9 million visits and 19 million page views. Clearly the interest in youth basketball is growing, and this year we will continue to provide extensive coverage of our youth tournaments with both feature videos and live streaming of games.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the basketball federation of the F.Y.R. of Macedonia for working with us to organize this event and wish all the competitors the best of luck.

Best regards,

Nar ZanolinFIBA Europe Secretary General
