Now
some
will
question
why
we
dont
indicate
their
entire
title
(Honorable
John
Doe,
32,KCCH). The answer is simple; less is more. For instance, when the Sovereign Grand
Inspector General of the Orient is attending Valley functions. He is a 33 Mason isnt he?
Should he be introduced as Illustrious Brother John Doe, 33 Inspector General Active, and
Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Orient of (name the jurisdiction)? The proper
introduction should follow the rule above rank, name, position and any special titles. For
instance:
IllustriousRobertL.Goldsmith,SovereignGrandInspectorGeneraloftheOrientofFlorida
Or
Illustrious
Robert
L.
Goldsmith,
Grand
Master
of
Masons
for
the
State
of
Florida
Or
IllustriousRobertL.Goldsmith,PastGrandMasterofMasonsfortheStateofFlorida
By dropping the 32, 32 KCCH, or 33 IGH, we are not losing anything. If anything we are
following tradition and gaining more respect of the time people have invested in us by
attendingourfunction. Theyarenotattendingtohearthelengthytitlesofallpresent. Toearn

mustbea32KnightCommanderoftheCourtofHonour. TobeintroducedasIllustrious,you
must be a 33, Inspector General whether honorary, active or Grand Cross. If you are a
memberoftheSupremeCouncilyouareIpsoFactoaGrandCrossScottishRiteMason.
When introducing Scottish Rite brothers who are members of the Supreme Council a simple
introductionofisappropriate.

There are plenty of misconceptions and myths that people embrace about leaders and
leadership.
The ability to lead is a collection of skills, all of which can be learned and improved. This
processdoesnothappenovernight. Leadership iscomplicated. Leadershiphasmany facets:
respect,experience,emotionalstrength,peopleskills,discipline,vision,momentum,andtiming
arejustafewofthesefacets. Manyfactorsthatcome intoplay in leadershipare intangible.
That'swhyleadersrequiresomuchseasoningtobeeffective.
A persons capacity to develop and improve these skills is what distinguishes leaders from
followers. Successful leaders are learners. The learning process is ongoing, a result of self
disciplineandperseverance. Thegoaleachdaymustbetogeta littlebetter,tobuildonthe
