Articulate competitive supply chains

applying standards, market information

and new knowledge and sustainable

technologies promoted by the Regional

Government of Piura with the support of

international technical cooperation.

OBJECTIVES

April 2013: The Brazilian Embassy in

Lima, Regional Government of Piura

and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of

Peru organized the Workshop “How to

export to Brasil,” in order to promote

trade relations between the two

countries. This under the Programme

Competitive Import Substitution. In this

event participated several companies

from the region where some

businesses were agreed.

Utah Delegation –

Coordination time

April 2013: The diplomat and

director of International Trade State

of Utah, Harvey Scott, came to

Piura accompanied by the Consul

of Peru in Utah, David Utrilla. In

this regard, they met with the

presidents of the Universidad

Nacional de Piura, Universidad de

Piura, the Mayors of the

Municipalities of Piura, Castilla, La

Matanza and Frías, and with the

directors of the Chambers of

Commerce of Piura and Sullana.

Bilateral Meeting

15 million 820 thousand soles are projecting to

be invested in Piura region as a result of the

189 meetings held between representatives

and investors of the State of Utah and the Piura

region given in the International Utah - Peru in

Lima. The event aimed to establish

commercial, academic and cooperative ties and

show investment opportunities offered by the

Piura region.

Cooperation with the U.S.A

The Regional Government

of Piura has signed an

agreement with the ONG

Help International (USA),

which allows us to run the

International Program of

Volunteers and Experts for

insertion into projects in the

region.

The cooperation of the University of Seville assigned 04

volunteers to support through the Piura Regional

Government from August to December, in programs such

as:

Implementation model of small-scale agricultura in Frias

district – Ayabaca province.

Safety Program and gerontological comprehensive

training to improve the quality of life of older adults in the

production sector.

Strengthening the Vocational Guidance Service and

Occupational Information in the Region of Piura.

Seth W. Ellsworth, student of the Faculty of

Food Science from Brigham Young University-

USA, conducted scientific studies on carob, its

use in further manufacturing, and its possible

use in other countries. This project was made

possible thanks to the cooperation agreement

between the Piura Regional Government, the

State of Utah and the National University of

Piura.

One Village One Product (OVOP) movements have been

promoted in Oita since the 1970's. Advocated by Dr.

Morihiko Hiramatsu, Governor of Oita prefecture in Japan

(1979-2003), the OVOP movements are known to have

contributed to revitalizing rural villages experiencing

depopulation, as well as economic and social stagnation.

The OVOP movements encourage and engender

community initiatives to (re)discover and add value to local

resources, and create a local specialty product (OVOP

product) which can be considered as a unique local

treasure. The OVOP movements have been adopted in a

number of countries in the world.

Spanish foundation “Siglo XXI” donated

infrastructure and educational material

April 2013: Colegios Siglo XXI

foundation from Valencia – Spain

opened up the first part of the school

“María Teresa Medica Marco”, valued

in S/. 268,000.00. It also donated

educational material to N° 14100

School valued 9,430.00 €.

November 2013: Colegios Siglo XXI

foundation donated clothes, shoes,

toys, mattresses, kitchen utensils and

educational material to N° 14100

School. And the project “Ilusion 2” in

caleta La tortuga – Paita.

Help International donated solar panels to

rural areas September 2013: The American

organization Help International donated

61 small solar panels to families in the

community El Morante–Catacaos, which

was so useful to get electricity in their

houses.

There also was a donation of a big solar

panel which enabled the operation of the

San Francisco waterhole.

Medical campaign made by The Hope Alliance

ONG

May 2013: The American organization The

Hope Alliance made a medical campaign

“Visual Health and Prevention of Pterygium”

from 19 to 31 of May. Doctors measured

the vision and donated glasses in La

Matanza, Sechura, Castilla, Paita and

Bosconia, 2500 persons were benefited.

June 2013: A group of 25

American doctors made an

ophthalmic campaign at Santa

Rosa hospital in Piura. They

performed free surgeries to

poor people with cataract,

squint and others eye

diseases.

November 2013: The director of Lofthouse foundation

from Utah-USA, David Stone, donated equipment to

the Centre of Special Basic Education “Niño Jesús

de Paita”. Which enabled the opening of the First

Board of Multisensory Stimulation for Special

Children.

December 2013: The church of Jesucristo de los

Santos de los Últimos Días will donate bakery

equipment, valued in US$ 6,000.00 to Señor de la

Exaltación Children village in Huarmaca for the

implementation of a bakery workshop.

a) In 2013 was worked the development of the

Public investment Project “Improving child nutrition in

the villages of Hualangayuc, Rodeopampa, Chonta,

Coipa de Porcuya, Limón de Porcuya, Trigal, Loma

Grande, S.J. del Temple, Ovejerias y Collanayuc in

Huarmaca district – Huancabamba.

This project was accomplished by The Institute for Self

Reliant Agriculture and Regional Agriculture

Management.

b) Agreement with Peru-Ecuador Binational Plan to

equip the health sector in Huancabamba.

TRACKING AND

MONITORING OF PROJECTS

FUNDED BY INTERNATIONAL

COOPERATION

a) Implementation of the

Model of Agriculture on a small

scale, in order to contribute the

improvement of the quality of life

of 150 families of small farmers in

the district of Frías .

This project is implemented by the

National University of Piura,

Regional Government of Piura,

City Hall of Frías and The Institute

For Self Reliant Agriculture.

b) Training and

development of

entrepreneurial skills to people

from Comunidad de Ciudad

Noé in Cura Mori, Piura, in

order to teach families to

become economically self-

sufficient through

entrepreneurship and

business education.

Publishing: “ Sharing our heritage: Cultural

Landscapes and Management Models in

Andalusia and Piura”

That is the results of the research

conducted in 2010 by two experts from

the University of Sevilla - Spain, and

three volunteers and teachers from the

University of Piura.

With the support of PETROPERU

and BYU TV International (USA)

was made the music Video “Piura

to the World”, which was performed

by the artist Mili Vega Ugaz. This

video aims to promote the city of

Piura through the embassies and

travel agencies.

Implementation of a training course

and receiving Neonatal

Resuscitation kits aimed at

professional staff of 50 regional

Medical Centers donated by

Asociación Peruana de la Iglesia de

Jesucristo de los Santos de los

Últimos Días.
