WHAT ABOUT SFSP TRAINING?

New sponsors and new staff are required to be

trained by MDE

Returning sponsors are required to

attend MDE training at least once every 3

years

cancelled for this year

SFSP team will hold a webinar in May for sponsors that have

additional questions

When should you update your form?

If you add a site

Add full address with zip code

Change times of meal service

Add beginning and ending times; example: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

List days of service in “Additional Information” field

Change ending date of meal service

All dates were changed to 6/1/2020, sponsors MUST go in and change ending dates

Be sure to submit form; do not click on “save” and close out

ACCOUNTING/CODINGTrack and report revenues and expenditures to SFSP grant code 858 in the Food Service Fund (Fund 25)

Track these separate from regular SFSP if possible Accurate operating costs will help if any emergency funds become available

REIMBURSEMENT RATES All USC Meals served during this health emergency will be reimbursed at

the following rates:

Breakfast $2.3750 ($2.16+$0.215)

Lunch/Supper $4.1525 ($3.76 + $0.3925)

Snacks $ 0.9775 ($0.87+$0.1075)

On the Claim Status Report in MiND, the Operating and Administrative portion of the rates are divided, please note that the total rate is correct

PANDEMIC EBT (P-EBT)

Benefits for all families with children who were receivingfree or reduced meals prior to the crisis

Includes all children at CEP sites

Includes all those directly certified, or certified bycategorical eligibility or application at the local level

Benefit amount per child = reimbursement rate for free breakfast + free lunch multiplied by the number of days of school closure per month

Those already receiving SNAP will see benefit added to their cards

Those not already receiving SNAP will get a card in the mail; they will need to “PIN” to indicate their consent for participation

DIRECT CERTIFICATION (DC) AND FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE APPLICATIONS

Pull DC list to ensure families receive the best possible benefit

Encourage households to complete applications for current School Year (SY) 2019-2020

Record household income at the time the application is completed (signed) and submitted

Allowable cost to pay for labor to process applications

Free and reduced-price student counts support SFSP site eligibility

Households can carry over their current benefit for 30 operating days into the new school year
