PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

St. Vincent de Paul Society

We are so grateful for your donations. We have been able to help everyone in need this week.

Make your contribution in an envelope

marked: “St. Vincent de Paul”. Thank you

Our Lady of Fatima welcomes all parishioners to join our 10:30AM Choir on Sundays.

Interested parishioners are encouraged to contact the Music Office at

[email protected] or 206-352-4587 for more information. Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday

evenings. All are welcome!

This Tuesday, October 7th is the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. Pope John Paul II called the Rosary “the school of Mary,” a special devotion that teaches us about the profoundly close relationship Mary shared with her Son, Jesus Christ. More than this, praying the Rosary invites us into this relationship, nurturing our faith and deepening our understanding of who Jesus Christ was for the world. The Church celebrates Our Lady of the Rosary in order to honor Mary’s example and guidance to her Son. May we learn in her school how to open our lives to her Son

Jesus, and how to imitate his example of sharing God’s love with the world.

Mark your calendars for the Knights of Columbus SPAGHETTI DINNER

Saturday, October 11th.

This family meal includes pasta, salad, bread, dessert, and beverages. Alberto will be cooking so you

know it will be good! Tickets available after Masses

and at the Door.

Longtime parishioner, George Oravetz, passed away on September 24th. George was buried at

Holy Rood cemetery on September 26th. Please pray for George and his widow, Eleanor.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Each year men and women embark on an exploration of the Catholic faith. Some are deciding if they are called into the Catholic Church; others are interested in discovering what it really means as an adult to be a Catholic. Together they give witness to the fact that that journey to eternal life is a lifelong journey. This journey takes on even greater meaning when we walk it with others.

Beginning October 28th at 7:00 in the Parish Office, RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) will be offered for those interested in reconnecting and/or exploring the core topics and tasks of the Catholic faith. If your are interested, please read further and complete the form on the insert THE CATHOLIC JOURNEY in today’s bulletin.

After the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus, there was the beginning of the new Church. Join us as we study the Acts of the Apostles which tells the story of the spread of the Gospel and the growth of the new Church. We will be using the Little Rock Bible Study program. This is a 10 week study and will be on Tuesdays at 10:00am in the Parish Center. We will start on Tuesday, October 7. The first Meeting will meet in the Church. AND MORE… CHECK US OUT! Open following Mass.

We are looking for volunteers to help after all Masses. Please stop by the table for details.

The first month of school has gone by quickly. We have had Curriculum Night, two very successful events (Orange Ruler Fun Run and the Fall Festival), the first Parent-Teacher Club Meeting, the start of the parent Love and Logic Class, the Safe Environment training class for

volunteers, and the high school information meeting for our 8th grade students and their parents. Speech Team is getting underway, after-school Legos and Creative Coding are both in full swing, and CYO Cross Country is keeping our students moving. Our Accreditation Pre-Visit is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The Visiting Committee spends a day with us in advance of their more in-depth visit in November. We will be giving them copies of our self-study document and showing them around our school. Faculty and staff have worked hard on compiling information needed. In keeping with our goals of being good stewards, students are spending some time each month tidying the building and wiping down smudges on walls. We had our first clean-up day on Wednesday, and everyone pitched in to help. On Friday, October 3rd, our faculty is participating in Teacher Excellence Day through the Archdiocese. They will join other Catholic school teachers in learning more about the Write On! program and hear other presentations designed to help with the high achievement of all of our students. They are such a wonderfully dedicated group who truly are doing the Lord's work in teaching our children and modeling our Catholic faith. Please keep them in your prayers.

OLF 6th Graders will be selling wreaths after all the Masses

October 18, 19, 25 & 26. Proceeds go to fund the 6th

Grade camp at Camp Hamilton

effort of UGM and Mary's Place, is seeking volunteers to provide dinner to the 48 women and

children each evening. This is an ideal project for two families to work

together to purchase, prepare and serve the meal at the shelter. Children of all ages can participate.
