The Snapdragon Book Foundation

The Snapdragon Book Foundation was started to provide funds to improve school libraries for disadvantaged children.

The foundation exists to put books in the hands of kids. In a time when many schools are reallocating their funds to technology and audiovisual equipment, they hope to make sure that school libraries are still offering children good books to read.

Grant funds may be used for:

Books that will be used repeatedly through classroom libraries.

Processing or cataloguing fees from book vendors (for processing of the books ordered in conjunction with your Snapdragon project).

Reference materials for use by students.

Magazine or newspaper subscriptions.

Grant amounts typically range from $2,500 to $10,000

Deadline to apply for this grant is: February 15, 2019.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation Grants

Dollar General’s commitment to literacy is an integral part of the company’s culture. Dollar General believes learning to read or learning the English Language is an investment that opens doorways for personal, professional and economic growth. Summer Reading Grants - Maximum Grant Amount $3,000 Summer Reading Grants support the creation or expansion of summer reading programs. Schools and libraries are eligible to apply if their programs meet the following criteria:

Target Pre-K – 12th grade students who are new readers Target below grade level readers Assist readers with learning disabilities

Deadline to apply for this grant is: February 21, 2019 Grant Announcement: May 9, 2019 Adult Literacy Grants - Maximum Grant Amount $15,000 Dollar General Literacy Foundation Adult Literacy Grants award funding that provide direct service to adults in need of literacy assistance. Organizations must provide the help in one of the following instructional areas:

Adult Basic Education General Education Diploma Preparation English Language Acquisition

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold STEM Innovation Grants

STEM Innovation Grants are designed to support K-12 teachers and schools in their efforts to develop, improve or expand innovative instructional programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Grants for up to $5,000 will be awarded to support projects. A school is eligible to receive up to two STEM Innovation grants during each application period. Each applicant/teacher/classroom may receive one grant award per school year.

Deadline to apply for this grant is: March 15, 2019

Awards Announced: May 1, 2019

ACS-Hach High School Chemistry

Classroom Grant

Since 2008, over 600 high school chemistry teachers received ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grants to support ideas that enhance classroom learning, foster student development, and reveal the wonders of chemistry. Applicants must be a high school chemistry educator. Funds may be used for:

Instructional Materials

Professional Development

Field Studies

Science Outreach Events

Toshiba America Foundation Math & Science Grant

For Grades 6-12

Toshiba America Foundation accepts applications from teachers who are passionate about making science and mathematics more engaging for their students. Funded projects in grades 6 -12 provide students with the opportunity to "do science" in new ways that promise to increase their engagement with the subject matter and improve their learning. Applications must be for project based learning. Only on-line applications are accepted. Application Deadline: Grades 6-12 Grant requests for $5,000 or less is March 1, 2019 with decisions being made by April 15, 2019. Helpful Tips on Writing a Foundation Grant

Reminder: All grants r egardless of dollar amount must be routed through the central office administrative approval process. Please provide a copy of the application to the Office of Competitive Grants prior to submitting it to the funder. Allow up to 5 business days for the routing process to complete. Several central office departments are involved in this approval process.
