Dear Paw Creek Presbyterian Church,
As I reflect upon this life of ours as members of the body of Christ, and I think upon all of the ill will that plagues our world, our country, our community, our church, I can easily despair. But I choose a different path. I ask you to join me as we each, individually find ways to widen our circle of influence in positive and decisive ways. Each of us has an opportunity to influence good, to influence well-being, to influence love and joy. It is done by our words and actions. IN moments when we are unable to find the strength to do change our words and actions to reflect the grace of God, I encourage you to pray. I recently came upon a familiar prayer that reminds me again of the power of prayer and how that which we ask of God can be made manifest in our lives. It is a prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. I share this prayer with you now. May it be so.
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is dark-ness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be under-stood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
In Christ,
Rev. Veronica Cannon

Service Assignments “THE GREAT SPIRITUAL MIGRATION”
Join us for a reading and presentation from Brian McLaren on The Great Spiritual Migration. Brian will be available to sign copies of his book, which you can purchase at the event.
The Christian story, from Genesis until now, is fundamentally about people on the move—outgrowing old, broken religious systems and embracing new, more redemptive ways of life. It’s time to move again. In his new book, The Great Spiritual Migration: How the World's Largest Religion is Seeking a Better Way to be Christian, Brian McLaren invites you to seize the moment and set out on the most significant spiritual pilgrimage of our time: to help Christianity become more Christian.
We have reserved 20 tickets (first come, first serve). If interested in going, please contact Karen Cathey at [email protected], or 704-650-2929.

SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Samaritan’s Purse - Operation Christmas Child has seasonal, paid employment opportunities available in their Charlotte Processing Center from mid-November to mid-December.
While many Associates will be returning this year, there is a need for over 700 people and there are many jobs available for warehouse workers, certified forklift operators, team coaches, data entry keyers and mail processing staff on both first and second shifts. These positions are temporary, full-time opportunities, Monday through Saturday, and require a solid commitment for the duration of the project.
As a Christian Ministry, Samaritan’s Purse would like to make these limited opportunities known to qualified members of local churches. They are currently accepting applications and will begin setting up interviews on October 3, 2016. If you are interested, you can apply online at samaritanspurse.org/processingcenteremployment
More information is available on the bulletin board in the Church Office. Or you can contact them at 704-916-8020.
