• What is it?• New toolbar for quick formatting
fixes
• When will I see it?• It only appears when you have
selected text or an object with your mouse.
• Faded vs. Solid• When the toolbar first appears it
will be faded, once you put your mouse on top of it, it will be solid

• Use this to:• Print• Save• Open
• Word Options• Display settings• Proofreading options• Customizable functions• Add-ins

The Quick Access Toolbar
• Why use it?• Customizable• A command that you use often,
but is not in an easy location to remember
• A command that is in the Office Button drop down menu, but you want it in a set location

•What if I don’t like the Ribbon?•No way to delete or replace, but you can minimize it
•Minimizing the Ribbon•Perfect for those who format after they are done creating•The ribbon will reappear once you have clicked on a tab

New File Formats
• Greater Security• Cannot store macros (cannot be
used to spread viruses or malware)
• Office Open eXtensible Markup Language (OOXML)
• Important for Cross-Platform Compatibility and Archival Document Storage
• Smaller Risk of Corruption
• Smaller File Size

What are the new formats?
• X Suffix Extension• The standard document and template formats for the Office 07 products
have the same extension as the old ones, but with an X (for XML) added to the end

The New Formats (cont.)
• M Suffix Extension• For increased security the new standard formats cannot contain macros
because Office viruses use macros. However, many applications use macros in documents for programming purposes.
