Wendy Hoddinett goes ‘Off—Road’!!!

o ff— Road Cave Safari was recently visited by Wendy Hoddinett an Australian based Journalist who writes for MSN and had good things to say about our Off—Road Cave Tour Safari. She wrote a detailed summary of the tour and what to expect.

“It’s about 45 minutes out to the caves but you’ll be surrounded by lush scenery, fresh water lagoons and get to hear many stories about the area’s history and locals” said Wendy.

“Don’t expect a typical tourist experience when you arrive at the caves—the charm of this tour is that you’re entering a village and meeting the locals on their land” said Wendy. This is exactly how we want the tourists to feel and prepare themselves for; “THE REAL FIJI EXPERIENCE!!!

Kiwis gone ‘WILD’ !!!

T he “TREASURE ME” group from the Land of the Long White Cloud recently took the road less travelled and vis-ited Fiji’s very own Largest Cave System on the 26th of May.

The six travel agents who were in the country on a famil trip had attended Tourism Fiji’s “Marry Me Conven-tion” which was held at the Coral Coast’s Warwick Resort & Spa.

Upon entering the cave, the ladies were in awe of the different chambers within the cave and all were happy to have passed the pregnancy test at the “pregnancy gap” - low passage within the cave, legend has it that if a woman were to hide her pregnancy, she would not be able to pass through the passage way. Air New Zealand’s, Reservation Consultant, Vanu Sharma, who is originally from Punjab, India said that she felt right at home.

“Going past the villages and seeing villagers still ploughing the land using the bullocks brought back memories of home as I’ve lived in New Zealand for the past 6 years,” she said.

Tourism Fiji’s Kesa Marau accompanied the group and was also on her first trip on the road less travelled

Born and raised New Zealand photographer Chris

McLennan stops by!

A whole day was spent out in the interior of the Sigatoka Valley taking pictures of the two tours operated by Sigatoka River Safari.

Prior to this day, the office was going wild organ-ising the tours and making sure all was prepared for the busy day. “Do you know how hard is it to get our hands on Chris Mclennan?” said Jay Whyte our Managing Director.

Knowing we had the opportunity of getting Chris was awe-some news.

It is such an honour to have with us an incredible and tal-ented photographer who travels as a career from the out-skirts of Papua New Guinea to dog sled races in Alaska.

Chris McLennan has received numerous awards some of which include ‘Finalist travel category 2011, Winner Out-door Sports category 2010, Winner People’s Choice, Final Scenic category 2009’ at the National Geographic Traveller Awards. Chris lives a balanced life with his family back home in New Zealand and his busy career as a travelling photographer.

Most of the photography available on our websites, bro-chures and at the office were taken by Chris.

Chris McLennan also has available a facebook page where he uploads his work.

Best Memory at Work: Joining the Off Road Cave Safari Crew

Best Work Tip: Do things to the best of your ability and keep trying out new things!!!

T his Votualailai lad who likes to be referred to as ‘Bill’ first joined our company as a Van Driver back in 2011. “ It was an honour to take up this posi-tion as an ATV Driver as I feel that this suits my

personality and of course is a good way for me to meet lots of interesting people from different countries “ said Bill.

As part of our ATV Drivers training and certification, they firstly need to be licensed by LTA to drive on the roads of Fiji and secondly they complete an intensive driver training course, in-house under the tutelage of Tim Cruick-shank, Jay Whyte and Neil Ross.

Staff development is one of which our Managing Director “Jay Whyte” likes to emphasize. Through this our friend ‘Bill’ was recognized showing his natural flair for tourism and due to his dedication and hard work was offered the opportunity to be an ATV Driver.

“There are many opportunities available for staff members to take on new challenges but it is important to have a heart willing to do so” said Bill. Who knows what is next in line for this gentlemen.
