Off Campus Access to University & Library Websites The Gateway  http://gateway.lncn.eu The Gateway has links to all University websites; alternatively, you can access the websites directly (see below for individual links). In order to log onto Blackboard, Email, or documents stored your H: Drive you will be prompted to e nter your username a nd password. Your username is your  Account ID which can be fou nd on your Student ID card (numbe rs only). In order to log onto the Portal or Library resources, you may need to type network\ ’ in front of your account ID (for more details please see Portal and Library Resources sections below). *If you are logging onto the University’s computer network for the first time, your password will be set to your date of birth in the format of monthddyy e.g. september0191. You will need to cli ck on the ‘Change Password Management Utility’ on the front page of Blackboard in order to change this default password. 1. Blackboard Tips and Troubleshooting:

If your H: drive is full you will be denied access to Blackboard. Transfer 

files to alternative storage media and then try to log on again.

If the modules you are studying are not on Blackboard, you need tocheck with your tutor that the course is being delivered via Blackboard. If it is, you will need to check your registration with the Student SupportCentre.

2. Portal https://portal.lincoln.ac.uk/

The University of Lincoln Portal provides access to information on some of the

University’s departments and services.

If you are using the following browsers: Android, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, andSafari:

Username: your Account ID

Password: your  password*

If you are using Internet Explorer with Windows 7 or Windows Vista, youmay get the following log in screen:

Click on the link to ‘Use another account’, then enter your username andpassword as follows:

Username: network\your Account ID

Password: your  password*

If you are using Internet Explorer with Windows XP, you will be asked to enter a username and password:

Portal Tips and Troubleshooting:

If your computer insists on automatically trying to log on using a ‘local’user account, try deleting both cookies and saved passwords fromInternet Explorer (under Tools>Internet Options) and then try to log on to

the Portal again. Please note that this will delete all saved passwords andas a result may prevent access to other sites.

3. Library Resources

Library resources and information can be accessed from:

http://www.library.lincoln.ac.uk 

Use Find it at Lincoln to search for books, e-books, journal articles, conferencepapers etc. More electronic resources can be accessed from the Resources tabon the Library web site.

To log into Find it at Lincoln and electronic resources through the Library website you will be asked for a username and password which will vary dependingon which Internet browser and operating system you are using. Follow theadvice provided in the Portal section of this guide.

The Library Catalogue can also been used to find books and e-books and to

access your Library account. It can be accessed from:http://catalogue.library.lincoln.ac.uk

Library Catalogue Tips and Troubleshooting:

In order to access your library account, you will need to enter your  Account ID and 4 digit PIN. The PIN will be emailed to your Universityemail account (look out for the message from Safecom). This is also

your printing PIN. You will also need your PIN to request books. Please note that if you are

a campus-based student, you may only request books if all the copies arechecked out or if the book is at another campus.

Your student email account can be accessed from off-campus.

5. H: Drive ftp://ftp.lincoln.ac.uk

If you save documents to your H: drive whilst working on campus, you canaccess them from off campus.
