FPA NCA Newsletter Volume 21 #2 - February 2020 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE PARKER TRASBORG, CFP® Hello and happy February. This will be the last monthly newsletter that you’ll be receiving from FPANCA. The board has discussed that there is a need to revamp how we have been communicating with our membership through the newsletter to make it more effective and improve readership. Right off the bat, it’s been decided that we will be moving to a quarterly publication and we will be re-designing the format and layout. If you looked at January’s newsletter, you may have noticed a design shift from what we have done in the past. It’s a step in the right direction and the changes will continue to evolve throughout 2020. We will announce once the final changes have taken place, but for now, please share any feedback or ideas with us to make the Newsletter a bigger benefit to our members. We had a sold out crowd in Tysons for our January Winter Symposium to listen to some great educational content. Thank you to everyone that attended. We hope you enjoyed your time and found the content useful. We also want to express our appreciation for your participation in the polls we scattered throughout the day, your feedback is important for us to learn from our events and continue to improve upon them going forward. For those that missed the day, we had some great thought provoking speakers, a nice lunch menu and lovely raffle prizes from a few of our sponsors. Altman and Associates gave a bottle of scotch, Catalyst Funds gave a bottle of scotch and a few Yeti tumblers, Nationwide had a “swag bag” full of gifts and Fairway Independent Mortgage raffled off a 65” TV. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone that took time to visit our sponsors. As we look to plan future symposiums, it sounded like Tysons was a preferred location but the actual venue and setup could be altered to accommodate the crowd a bit better and allow for more eyes on the presentations. Also at the symposium, we had the pleasure of awarding of four Outstanding Member Awards. Cal Brown won the Lifetime Achievement Award and gave a great speech.
