'1 RtSrt-:E UO.\RD OF CHILDRE'\'S HO~IE: '\\'c the trustees ?£ the Free Will Baptist chilclren's home h~Yin~ set a quota for the operatwn of the home at . 2,:JOO per month_, we fmd ll ncccssa_r~ to pa. s on a suggested < uota to our people of the \anous churches compnsmg the area of .-\labama, ~~ iso;iso;ippi , Ccorgia, Florida.

The suggested quota will be. - \\'c 1·ccommend that we adopt a suggested quora of 23c per member monthi~, a~ a minimum throughout o~1r churc~es, and that our minister~ do all that the' can lO help us promote tlus regulation in their churches.

Our board meetings for the ~ear 1960 con sited of our first meeting on J anuary 22, then . \pril 29, and jul~ ~!1 . . -\ s_rccial. meeting was called to con· sidcr the purchase of a farm near the. chddren s hc;m1c, on Sept_ember 10 . 'J he Executive committee met se' eral limes to cons1dcr several Hems that did not rc<Juirc the General Board.

Some of the things that rhc board did puss on and finish during the ) car were:

I. 1hc price set on sto re building at J asper, .\l abama, that was to be sold LO a ~lr. Ellis , was $3,:)00.00.

~. Our large building at Jasper . . \labama has been rented for S73.00 a month.

Repairs: I. The large water tank at the thildrc11's home ncedo; to be repaired.

II wiJl cost appro.\imatcly $1,000. 2. ;'\lany windows are out, screen' arc badl~ 111 need o~ repair and the

home needs to be painted bacll~, abo the :,ign on the highwa~ needs to be repainted.

3. Our propcn~ at Jasper, Alabama needs to be repaired and paint~d. 1 o do what is needed on this building we wiJJ need lumber, nails, pamt and some plumbing. This building can be rented for double what we are gcHing for it if we can do the needed work on it.

I have discussed hadng a work da), some 'aturday, to gi,·e the home a much needed repair job, as cheaply a!) we can. But we will ha\'e to plan, and get the needed materials together before we ca ll on anyone to donate their work. If )OU arc h ere and could come as a carpenter, painter, electrician, pi umber, let me know before the association is over.

~ccds: Some of oux greatest needs arc: ~l'Oll1oting the H ome. Most of our people cannot 'isualize the vastness

of llus op eration because of a lack of experience of this kind. Ilow many of you have been forced to operate your home since last

December without enough money to pay the monthl) bills? This has happened at our home.

The great need of the home is money. \\'c arc not recci' ing a sufficient amount to operate as we should at

pr~cnt.

In the ~ccond place we will need to promote the home to our rural d ist rin <;.

Out of our 23 or 30 thousand Free Will Baptist in the tate of Alabama and adjoining states that are so graciousl) helping us with our chilclren's ~10~nc, 1 believe we can find 3 thousand people that could cultiYate one <IU c 01 more for the children's home.

''"e need corn, hay, oats, wheat, grain of all kind , and colton seed, ~\'C also need potatoes, beans, and peanllts. '1 here is also a need for milk and beef caulc, pork and lard hog , and meat and egg chickens.

. Can we visualize this: Gh·e us the mone} and we will build a large ~IHc~en house that can, i f managed right, pay the home a nice little income each \Car ' .

We have thousands of jars that could be filled with fruit and Yegetables

each ~ car, and many of our p eople arc wi lling to fill them. but we need to plan our work, and work. by the plan.
