Sadhguru: The dream machine, or the dream yantra, is a tool

to hasten that part of the dream which in yoga we call thelinga sharira. Probably in the English language we can call itthe genetic body. So, as I said, this genetic body or the lingasharira has a memory of its own and this memory continuouslyplays.

The effort during Anaadhi was to compress the linga sharira toa very small size. When it is compressed, it becomes

concentrated. When it becomes concentrated, the spiritualprocess could be very overwhelming for people, because thisvast memory, which was spread out, is now concentrated. Many people may not be able to handle that kind of situation;they need to be in a very protected atmosphere. If they are notin a protected atmosphere it just cannot happen. But even in aprotected atmosphere it can be very overwhelming.

So the idea was to reduce the content of the linga sharira, to

reduce the volume of the memory, so that the shrinking did notbecome too overwhelming. We set up a dream machine or adream yantra to hasten the process of the dreaming. So theparticipants slept well in the night and still got up veryexhausted in the morning! Thats because the dreams weremoving at such a rapid pace that their rest time was the mostexhausting. People got up totally exhausted because they had

been dreaming so hard. But this was done to reduce the volumeof the linga sharira; otherwise the compression of the lingasharira would become very difficult and overwhelming.

All this was in preparation of a sadhana called lingasanchalana, that is to activate the core linga within. As abuild-up to this linga sanchalana kriya, we wanted to compressthe linga. To compress the linga we had to reduce the volume ofmemory. Thats why we set up this dream machine.

You may ask, What is the use? The use is that we are nottouching your prarabdha karma or the allotted karma for thislifetime. We are only going for the entire warehouse of karma,or the sanchita karma. So the dream yantra is only for thosepeople who have decided that they want this to be their last

time around. If you have a desire for a little more food, for a

little more pleasure, if you want to watch one more film that isproduced in 22nd century (because theyre going to do 4D, youknow?), then you should not go in for it. Because once thesanchita karma is taken off, this life will become incapable oftaking on one more body, even if it wishes to. But theprarabdha is untouched.

So you dont see any immediate transformation in the person,

because, as I have said before, changing attitudes becoming alittle gentle, a little loving, a little compassionate is not aspiritual process; it is a psychological and social process. Thespiritual process means you dismantle the physical nature. Youdismantle it in such a way that it doesnt lead you to ill-healthor death, but still it is dismantled. That is what a dreammachine is about: the substance that is necessary to form onemore body, to find one more womb, has been taken away, but

this body is perfectly fine. If you touch the prarabdha karmathen this very body will start working itself towardsdissolution. So we dont touch the prarabdha karma; we justtake away the sanchita.

That means weve destroyed your future. (Laughter) You getme? But your present is intact.

When someone leaves his body consciously, he istruly no more. That is referred to as mukti orliberation. The game is up.

Questioner: So after all this memory is shed, whathappens? What is ultimate liberation or mahasamadhi?

We have heard stories of yogis shedding their bodies inmahasamadhi. What exactly does it mean?

Sadhguru: Many yogis choose to leave their bodies. They willsay, On this day, at this time, I will leave my body. They will

sit down in front of everybody and just walk out of the body.

Without injuring this body, walking out of this body is not asimple thing.

Questioner: In other words, they will just sit thereand die?

Sadhguru: They dont die; they leave.

Questioner: But the body is left behind?

    Sadhguru: Yes.

Questioner: Have you ever seen it happen?

Sadhguru: Yes. We have seen it. We have witnessed with ourown eyes an occasion where someone announced that he willbe leaving. People have arrived hundreds of people to seethis. In front of them, the person sat and said, Okay, I am

leaving, and he just left. No poking yourself with a dagger, noeating poison, nothing. Just sitting down, perfectly fine, andleaving.

Just like you take off your clothes and throw them away, in thesame manner you shed your body and go. If you understandwhere you and your body are linked, you can break the linkwhen you wish. Right now, you are talking about stories; you

do not know how this life is linked to the body. There is awhole system of yoga as to how you come to this point, whereyou are linked to the body. If you know this, the point of thiscoupling, you can release it gently. Nobody has to forcefullyevict you. You are not waiting for eviction. You are a gracefulperson. When the time is up, you go.

    Questioner: Where do you go?

Sadhguru: When you say where, you are always talkingabout distances, destinations. Today modern science is provingto you beyond any doubt that there is no such thing as here andthere. There is no such thing as now and then. This is just aconcoction of your conscious mind. If you transcend thelimitations of your conscious mind, everything is here and now.

It is not like going from this point to that point. This point iseverything. This is not a philosophy; this is physics. Modernphysics is talking about this. Quantum physics is saying this.Today even the general theory of relativity is saying this: thateverything is just here, one inside the other. There are elevendimensions packed into the same space. So where does notmean somewhere in terms of distance. It is just that you aremoving away from gross physical reality. You disappear from

physical eyes. That does not mean you have gone anywhere. Itis about moving into a different dimension. The same lifeenergy is moving from one dimension to another, from a verygross physical level to a little subtler plane. It is right here, butit is not in its physical form because the physical form naturallywent back into the earth.

Now, when somebody dies, you say he is no more. It is not

true. He is no more only in your experience. But if you dissolvethis information that is packed into this body, if you walk outof your body, then that is the end of the game.

Why would anyone want to end the game? Because they haveseen enough. For you, your memory is blocked; for you thememory is only from birth to now. So you think, Why shouldI stop the game? But suppose you realize you have done this a

hundred times over; if you saw everything clearly, it would notmake any sense to you once again to go through the samenonsense. You would naturally want to see what is next.

When someone leaves his body consciously, he is truly no more. That is referred to as mukti or liberation. The game is up.
