The Autotronics occupation equips namibian trainees with the skills needed to take up positions as qualified artisans within the mining, engineering, building and civil industries. The Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology pro- vides a holistic method of training that integrates practi- cal hands on training with theoretical knowledge and background, shaping individuals into experienced, know- ledgeable, well qualified, capable recruits geared to enter the commercial and industrial job market. The Autotronics trade will teach the trainee to compe- tently: Remove, test, fit and service automobile batteries and mechanical electrical equipment. Build basic auto electrical circuits. Assemble, fit and repair automobile auxiliary harness- es. Select and use automobile lifting equipment. Construct simple electro-pneumatic/hydraulic cir- cuits. Diagnose, test and repair conventional automobile charging and starting systems. Service and repair conventional automobile ignition systems. Diagnose, service and maintain automobile air- conditioning systems. “Excellence is a habit not an act, it takes time and perseverance.” NIMT offers a four-year training opportunity in the Autotronics trade. Training is based on the apprenticeship modular training approach in accordance with the require- ments and recommendations of the industry. Theoretical tuition in the classrooms follows a com- bination of Level 1 (1st year) to Level 3 (3rd year) subjects. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1.1 - MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

For the Electrical Field of Study candidates must have completed the grade 12 certificate or equiv-alent qualification successfully, with at least 14 points in the 5 best subjects, of which at least 4 credits in Mathematics, Science and English (first or second language) respectively.

Preference will be given to students with higher

grades. Must be declared healthy and fit by a medical

practitioner.
